Abstract:Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) is one of the important elements of Probability Risk Analysis (PRA) in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). HRA methods which are by far the most widely used include the Technique for Human Error Rate Prediction (THERP) and Human Cognitive Reliability (HCR). In these methods, the concept of Performance Shaping Factor (PSF) is used to describe the aspects of the human's individual characteristics, environment, organization, or task that specifically decrements or improves human performance, thus respectively increasing or decreasing the likelihood of human error. Generally these PSFs are focused on the assessment of individual performance. However, most people work in teams or groups in large complex systems such as NPPs, which result in the limitations of current HRA methods with respect to the actual human performance situation in the control room of NPPs. In this paper, some team-related factors which can affect the team performance will be identified and classified. Based on these team factors, a new PSF named Team Performance Shaping Factor (TPSF) will be defined. The proposed framework to evaluate the attributes and coefficients of TPSF is more or less drawn the inspiration from the method Cognitive Reliability & Error Analysis (CREAM). And in this study, we attempt to integrate the TPSF into THERP method and HCR model respectively in accordance with the existing architectures. For example, TPSF will be going to mostly cooperate with the dependency models of THERP. While a K TPSF will be proposed to modify the nominal value of T 1/2 in the similar way as the original three factors in HCR model. ©2010 Taylor & Francis Group.
