Abstract:Thirty fluid inclusion samples from Tarim Central Uplift were collected and analyzed for MCI(Molecular Compositions of Inclusion) and compound specific isotopic composition. The distinction and the correlation between the reservoir free oil and included oil were identified and discussed.Only 6 out of 30 inclusion samples displayed apparent biomarker features of the Cambrian derived oil, characterized by relatively high abundance of C28-steranes and low isomerization degree of steranes with low ratios of C21-22-/C27-29-steranes as well as tricyclic terpanes/pentacyclic terpanes. This indicated that Cambrian source rocks could have contribution to the formation of hydrocarbon in the Tazhong Central Uplife. The other included oils showed biomarker features of the Ordovician derived oils with isotopic levels of n-alkanes fell between the two end member oils(∈-O1 and O2+3),whereas one included oil was observed to have similar biomarker distribution and isotope level to those of the O2+3 derived oils, suggesting that the middle and upper Ordovician was one of the primary sources for the oils in the Tazhong Central Uplift. This paper proposed that there were multi-periods of oil charging in the area studied according to the significant differences among the included oils themselves and between the reservoir free and included oils.We thought that MCI analysis is particularly useful in the identification of the end member oils and the mixed oils, and in the reconstruction of the initial features of biodegradation oils and gas invasion oils in the Tarim Central Uplift. In summary,we believed that MCI has significance in the studies of the origin and accumulation procedures of oils in a complex basin.
