Abstract:Sulfurized polyacenic semiconductor (SPAS) material was prepared by heat treatment of sulfurized phenol formaldehyde (SPF) resin doped with different ratios of sulfur at nitrogen atmosphere. The structure of SPAS material was characterized by means of FTIR, XRD, TG, SEM and BET analysis methods. The conductivity of SPAS material was measured by standard four-point method. The effects of different contents of sulfur on the first charge and discharge capacities of SPAS were studied too. The experimental results show that the structures of SPAS materials are different from those of pure polyacenic semiconductor materials (PAS). The structure of sulfurized material presents amorphous state, and the interlayer distance as well as surface area increase. When the content of sulfur in SPF resin is 10%, the surface area gets to 140 m2/g, and the conductivity of SPAS materials get to 2-4 S/cm. The electrochemical experiments showed that when SPAS was used as electrode material for lithium cells, the first discharge capacity and charge-discharging efficiency were both increased largely. When the content of sulfur dopant got to 10%, the first discharge capacity of SPAS could get to 1410 mAh/g, and the charge-discharging efficiency get to 85.5%. This was 10 per cent larger in charge-discharging efficiency than that of pristine PAS material.
