Study on Education and Social Demand of Simulation Science and Technology Discipline

Abstract:The argumentation of setting simulation science and technology as first level discipline was given, including its demand and possibility. Different kinds of investigations and analysises were carred out, analyzing the graduate education of 107 universities belonging to 211 engineering and 38 universities belonging to 985 program, based on the full paper databases of the doctorial thesises and outstanding masterial thesises in Chinese magazine network; investigating the teachers and graduate education for 10 years by means of the questionnaire, sampling 16 universities distributed in 8 provinces; analyzing the materials (published on network) of the major simulation laboratories of our country. The investigation results show that society and economy have strong demand for persons of simulation ability, and the major universities have sufficient professors to educate simulation graduates, and a great number of simulation graduates have been educated, which have shown the major unversities have powerful ability to educate simulation graduates. Also, the investigation and analysis were carried out in educated master graduates and doctor graduates in different disciplines of foreign unversities, based on PQDD data base; and in the ability of educating simulation graduates of typical foreign universities, colleges and institutes. The conclusion is almost same as in the China, but simulation science and technology has become related independent discipline in some unversities of developed countries.
