Abstract:A modified Chua's circuit is implemented meminductor and the improved memristive diode bridge emulator in this paper. The state equations of the modified Chua's circuit are described. The dynamical behaviors such as equilibrium set, Lyapunov exponents and diagram are revealed by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. Furthermore, the circuit exhibits rich dynamical behaviors including chaos, hyperchaos, periodic windows, period states, crisis scenarios and coexisting attractors. It is noted that coexisting attractors depend on the initial values and parameters of system. Furthermore, the simulation results demonstrate that some strange chaotic attractors such as double-scroll type and like butterfly attractor are displayed when parameter and initial value are changing.

Abstract:In this paper, we studies the problem of controlling chaos in a memristor-based Chua's circuit, which can be represented as a linear switched system based a common Lyapunov function. A linear piecewise switched controller is obtained by solving a set of LMIs. Finally, a numerical simulation is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the chaotic dynamical characteristics of Chua's oscillator. In the oscillator, a memristor and a negative conductance are substituted for the Chua's diode. The memristor is a magnetron which having smooth curve. Then the chaotic dynamics equations of the oscillator are obtained which derived from the Chua's oscillator circuit, and the dynamic characteristics are analyzed: phase diagrams, Poincare maps, Lyapunov exponent and spectrum. In addition, based on passive control theory, the passive controller is projected to fulfilled the control of Chua's oscillator circuit for achieving asymptotic stability to it's stable state. Finally, simulation figures verified the designed controller is effective.

Abstract:This paper proposes an innovative chaotic circuit based on Chua's oscillator. It combines traditional realization of a non-linear resistor in Chua's chaotic oscillator with a promising memristive circuitry. This mixed implementation connects old research works that were focused on diodes with relatively new research papers that are, now, concentrated on memristors. As a result, more reliable chaotic circuit with an HP memristor is obtained that could be used as a source of randomness. Dynamic behavior of the circuit is studied by obtaining fft analysis, different chaotic attractors and Lyapunov exponent spectrum. The results show that the addition of a memristor enhances chaotic behavior of the circuit while maintaining the same power dissipation.

Abstract:A memristor with coexisting pinched hysteresis loops and twin local activity domains is presented and analyzed, with an emulator being designed and applied to the classic Chua’s circuit to replace the diode. The memristive system is modeled with four coupled first-order autonomous differential equations, which has three equilibria determined by three static equilibria of the memristor but not controlled by the system parameters. The complex dynamics of the system are analyzed by using compound coexisting bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra and phase portraits, including point attractors, limit cycles, symmetrical chaotic attractors and their blasting, extreme multistability, state-switching without parameter, and transient chaos. Of particular surprise is that the extreme multistability of the system is hidden and symmetrically distributed. It is found that the existence of transient chaos in the specified parameter domain is determined by using bifurcation diagrams within different time durations and Lyapunov exponents with chaotic sequences. Finally, the symmetrical chaotic attractor and the system blasting are verified by digital signal processing experiments, which are consistent with the numerical analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, a modified hyperchaotic memristor-based Chua's circuit and its generalized discrete model are reported. First, the dynamics of the continuous system are investigated using different tools, including stability theory, phase portraits, Lyapunov exponents, and bifurcation diagrams, showing that the proposed circuit model possesses a line of equilibrium and exhibits rich dynamics, including the coexistence of regular and chaotic attractors, and mixed-mode oscillations. Lastly, a generalized discrete version of the proposed system is formulated and its dynamics are explored. Using the Jury criterion, we constructed a useful stability test to localize some stable regions in three parameter planes. The presence of an exact periodic solution is numerically highlighted, and the occurrence of chaotic behavior is confirmed using the largest Lyapunov exponent and the 0−1 test.

Abstract:Asymmetric property of the pinched hysteresis loop usually appears in a real memristor. To imitate this property, an asymmetric memristor emulator is constructed by an analog circuit consisting of a non-balance diode-bridge and a resistor-capacitor (RC) filter. By coupling this emulator to the classical Chua's circuit in parallel in both forward and reverse ways, two asymmetric memristive Chua's circuits are proposed and their mathematical models are established. Because of the symmetry between the forward and reverse circuits, the forward memristive Chua's (FAMC) circuit is focused on modelling the normalised system and investigating the equilibrium stability. With the FAMC system, several numerical plots are employed to discuss the parameter-dependent complex dynamics and initial-dependent coexisting behaviours. The numerical results manifest that there are three equilibrium points in the FAMC system, among which two non-zero equilibrium points are asymmetric, resulting in the emergence of asymmetric attractors. With the change of system parameters, the stability of one non-zero equilibrium point converts from unstable saddle-focus into stable node-focus, leading to the coexistence of multiple attractors. In addition, hardware experiments on a breadboard level are executed and the captured results well verify the numerical plots.

Observation of chaotic beats in a driven memristive Chua's circuit

Abstract:In this paper, a time varying resistive circuit realising the action of an active three segment piecewise linear flux controlled memristor is proposed. Using this as the nonlinearity, a driven Chua's circuit is implemented. The phenomenon of chaotic beats in this circuit is observed for a suitable choice of parameters. The memristor acts as a chaotically time varying resistor (CTVR), switching between a less conductive OFF state and a more conductive ON state. This chaotic switching is governed by the dynamics of the driven Chua's circuit of which the memristor is an integral part. The occurrence of beats is essentially due to the interaction of the memristor aided self oscillations of the circuit and the external driving sinusoidal forcing. Upon slight tuning/detuning of the frequencies of the memristor switching and that of the external force, constructive and destructive interferences occur leading to revivals and collapses in amplitudes of the circuit variables, which we refer as chaotic beats. Numerical simulations and Multisim modelling as well as statistical analyses have been carried out to observe as well as to understand and verify the mechanism leading to chaotic beats.

Abstract:In this Letter, a memristor-based Chuaʼs system is presented, and the chaotic behavior of this system is demonstrated by phase portraits. This Letter also deals with the problem of adaptive synchronization control of this chaotic system using the drive–response concept, and presents an adaptive control scheme for the synchronization of memristor-based Chuaʼs circuit, when the parameters of the drive system are fully unknown and different with those of the response system. The sufficient condition for the adaptive synchronization has been analyzed. Moreover, the controller design method is further extended to more general cases, where the physical plant contains parameter uncertainties, represented in either polytopic or structured frameworks. Numerical simulations are used to demonstrate these results.

Abstract:In 1976, Leon Chua showed that a thermistor can be modeled as a memristive device. Starting from this statement we designed a circuit that has four circuit elements: a linear passive inductor, a linear passive capacitor, a nonlinear resistor and a thermistor, that is, a nonlinear "locally active" memristor. Thus, the purpose of this work was to use a physical memristor, the thermistor, in a Muthuswamy-Chua chaotic system (circuit) instead of memristor emulators. Such circuit has been modeled by a new three-dimensional autonomous dynamical system exhibiting very particular properties such as the transition from torus breakdown to chaos. Then, mathematical analysis and detailed numerical investigations have enabled to establish that such a transition corresponds to the so-called route to Shilnikov spiral chaos but gives rise to a "double spiral attractor".

Abstract:A new method of memristor circuit implement was presented. This way is based on the definition of flux-control memristor, firstly, the flux was constructed, and then using the flux to control the memductance which was embodied by the photocell of the light dependent resistor （LDR）. Finally, an analog model of memristor which can be used as a two terminal element in both simulations and experiments for future research on memristor applications was implemented. The experimental results are shown, and the mathematical model of the LDR memristor was used to instead of the nonlinear diode in Chua＇s circuit, in order to study the chaotic characteristic of such a LDR memristor based Chua＇s circuit, which will show the feasibility for using a HP memristor to get a chaotic circuit.

Abstract:A physical Sr0.95Ba0.05TiO3 memristor-based modified Chua's circuit is proposed, which is studied in this paper by means of both theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. The stability of this memristor-based modified Chua's circuit is analyzed. A systematic investigation of the dynamic behaviors and their dependence on the initial states and circuit parameters is performed, presenting the Lyapunov exponents spectra, bifurcation diagrams, phase diagrams, and Poincare maps. The circuit emerges multiple dynamic behaviors, including stable points, periodic cycles, chaos, and some transient chaos. Specifically, the system hasmultistability, i.e., coexisting periods and coexisting chaotic attractors with the change of initial states and circuit parameters. This study is conducive to the subsequent design and analysis of memristor-based circuits for potential practical applications. Published under license by AIP Publishing.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a memristor model and a meminductor model and design the corresponding emulator circuits for imitating their characteristics. By employing the two models, we propose a very simple chaotic circuit that contains only three elements in parallel: a memristor, a meminductor and a linear passive capacitor. The circuit is very simple, but has very abundant dynamical behaviors, including line equilibrium set, bursting, coexisting attractors, transient chaos, transient period and intermittency. Furthermore, we replace the memristor and meminductor with their corresponding emulators in the proposed circuit to make a hardware experiment, which illustrates the validity of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:Discretization schemes such as Euler method and Runge–Kutta techniques are extensively used to find approximate solutions of Continuous-Time (CT) dynamical system. While the approximation is good for small discretization step sizes, as pointed out by Lorenz, when the step size increases, computational chaos and computational instability are frequently observed, the former phenomenon being a precursor to the latter. By computational instability, it is meant that there is a blow up of trajectories for the Discrete-Time (DT) system. Computational chaos instead means that for certain step sizes, the DT system displays chaos while the CT counterpart is not chaotic. This paper studies the dynamics of a class of second-order maps obtained via the discretization of a Memristor Murali–Lakshmanan–Chua Circuit (MMLCC). The discretization, which is based on the DT Flux–Charge Analysis Method (FCAM), guarantees that the first integrals of a CT-MMLCC are preserved exactly for the DT system. Hence the dynamics of DT-MMLCC evolves on invariant manifolds and it is characterized by the coexistence of infinitely many different attractors (extreme multistability). The paper uses analytic techniques introduced by Marotto, based on the concept of snapback repellers and transverse homoclinic orbits, to study the chaotic behaviors of the maps. Regions of the parameter space are singled out where there exist snapback repellers for DT-MMLCC, thus implying that the maps display chaos in the Marotto and in the Li–Yorke sense. Since the corresponding CT-MMLCC does not display chaos, the observed chaos of DT-MMLCC is genuinely a consequence of the discretization scheme used in the paper, i.e. it can be actually considered as computational chaos. It is also verified that computational chaos is a precursor to computational instability of the DT-MMLCC maps. Finally, the paper analyzes the effect on chaos obtained by changing the invariant manifold where the dynamics evolves.

Abstract:In this paper, we, respectively, introduce memristor, meminductor, and memcapacitor models. By employing these models, a simple chaotic circuit is designed, which only contains three memory devices in parallel: a memristor, a memcapacitor, and a meminductor. Complex dynamic behaviors are observed and investigated, including variable-boostable feature, chaos bursting phenomenon, phase diagram offsets, coexisting attractors, and transient and local sustained chaotic states. Furthermore, the presented chaotic system is realized by an experimental circuit, and abundant dynamic characteristics are confirmed by hardware experiments, which can be applied in engineering fields. Abstract:A novel hyperchaotic circuit is proposed by introducing a memristor feedback in a simple Lorenz-like chaotic system. Dynamic analysis shows that it has infinite equilibrium points and multistability. Additionally, the symmetrical coexistent attractors are investigated. Further, the hyperchaotic system is implemented by analogue circuits. Corresponding experimental results are completely consistent with the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:In this work, we propose a novel memristor chaotic circuit, which combines current feedback op amp with four basic electronic components, such as capacitance, inductance, resistance and memristor. The dynamic properties of the new circuit are demonstrated, such as system dissipation, equilibrium stability, phase portrait, Lyapunov exponent spectrum, and parameter influence. Numerical simulation results show that the circuit produces a kind of special chaotic attractor and exhibits complicated chaotic behaviour with the evolution of the system parameters. In order to confirm the correctness of the system, a realizing circuit is designed, Pspice simulation results verify the correctness of theoretical analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, a nonlinear chaotic system is presented, which is derived from the chua's circuit with a memristor. This is a four-dimensional autonomous circuit which exhibits chaotic behavior. The chaotic system is demonstrated by Lyapunov exponent, and phase portraits. Furthermore, this system can be stabilized by a switched feedback controller which can be obtained by solving a set of LMIs. And the results will be demonstrated by the numerical simulation.

Abstract:In this study, a new current-controlled memristor is proposed and its characteristics are analyzed. Based on this new memristor, a new four-dimensional chaotic circuit is proposed. The complex dynamics of the proposed chaotic circuit are investigated. From the results of the theoretical analysis and the numerical simulations, it is found that the memristor-based chaotic circuit can generate different types of attractors including single-scroll, double-scroll, and periodic attractors for varying circuit parameters. By taking symmetrical initial conditions, symmetric steady coexisting attractors are obtained under the same set of circuit parameters. For certain initial conditions, striking transient coexisting attractors with different timescales can be obtained. In particular, there are two transient changes occurring successively at different time scales respect to the same initial conditions for the proposed chaotic circuit, which is a novel dynamic property. Finally, a practical circuit platform that describes the proposed chaotic circuit on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) is designed, and some experimental results are presented for confirmation.

Abstract:In this paper, a single-T chaotic circuit with physical memristor is designed. The dynamic properties of this system are analyzed through phase diagram, Lyapunov exponent spectrum, bifurcation diagram, and Poincaré map. The system produces rich dynamic behaviors such as stable points, limit cycles, chaos under different initial values and circuit parameters. In addition, some strange phenomena such as coexisting attractors, state transition, transient chaos, and steady-state chaos accompanied by burst period phenomena are also studied in this system. All the results will provide some guidelines for physical implementation based on memristor.
