Abstract:Nano-ZnO was prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by the X-Ray diffraction.Cotton fabric was treated by the prapared Nano-ZnO via padding process under conditions of double-dip-double-nip with pickup of 70%～80%,dyeing at 80 ℃ for 3 min,and curing at 160 ℃ for 30 s.Results showed that,the treated fabric featured good anti-ultraviolet property with UPF above 50,excellent anti-bacterial property with bacterial inactivation rate 99.97%,and good soaping fastness,while whiteness,breaking strength and air permeability of treated fabric were not affected.

Abstract:Surface modification has been carried out to nano zinc oxide with low sodium polyacrylate and soluble coupling agent of organic titanate to obtain stable dispersed nano zinc oxide system.The prepared solution was used to treat cotton fabric via immerse,pad and bake,and processing parameter has been analysized and discussed.The results show that the treated cotton fabric has good whiteness and ultraviolet shielding effect,under the condition of the dosage of nano zinc oxide 10 g/L,liquor ratio 1∶30,immersing 15 min,baking at 150 ℃ for 90 s,while hygroscopicity and strength of the fabric are decreased,.

Abstract:The anionic surface active agent PAAS and Ti-acid-ester coupling agent were selected through comparative experiments as the combined dispersing agent which was applied to the dispersing treatment of(nano-ZnO,) rendering the dispersed (nano-ZnO) system good stability.The micro-structure of ZnO in the dispersed system was characterized by TEM.The physical properties such as whiteness and crease recovery angle of the fabric before and after treatment were tested.The results showed that the UV protection factor of the treated cotton fabric has a significant enhancement.And nano-ZnO particles will form a firm bonding with cotton and the fabric can be imparted a permanent anti-UV property when the compound crosslinking agent of chitosan and amino silicones is used in the treatment.

Abstract:Biological reductant are being explored globally to minimize the impacts of toxic chemicals used in nanoparticle synthesis. Incorporating nanoparticles (NPs) into textile fabrics offers a variety of enhanced functionalities, promising diverse applications. These innovations equip textiles with additional features, including wound healing, antimicrobial properties, UV protection, and self-cleaning abilities. The current investigation aims to fabricate, characterize, and finish the cotton fabric with zinc oxide nanoparticles and enhance its multifunctional properties. Zinc oxide nanoparticles was synthesized via a green method utilizing Tecoma stans (TS) seed extract with zinc acetate serving as the precursor. The phytochemicals, identified in the aqueous extract of Tecoma stans seed, played diverse roles as capping, reducing, or stabilizing agents during nanoparticle formation. Analysis of the UV-visible spectrum of the zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized from Tecoma stans (TS-ZnONPs) revealed a distinct peak at 345 nm, confirming their formation. Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) elucidated the presence of functional groups contributing to stabilization of TS-ZnONPs. X-ray diffractometry (XRD) revealed the crystalline nature of TS-ZnONPs. The average size and zeta potential of TS-ZnONPs were found to be 1.5 nm and − 27mV respectively. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) visually depicted irregularly shaped TS-ZnONPs, while the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrum corroborated the purity of TS-ZnONPs by showcasing the presence of desired elements. The finished cotton fabric exhibited enhanced UV protection with a UPF rating of 25. Additionally, these coated fabrics demonstrated superior self-cleaning properties compared to untreated cotton fabric. The TS-ZnONPs coated fabric showed antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The cost-effective production of ZnO nanoparticles through green synthesis methods highlights their promising potential for use in biomedical, and the ZnONPs finished fabric should be suitable for a variety of applications, including outdoor apparel, medical textiles, and household textiles, to meet the diverse needs of consumers in today's market.

Abstract:A novel ZnO nanoparticles aqueous solution was prepared through a one-step reaction between a modified hyperbranched polymer-PNP and zinc nitrate. During the reaction process, PNP not only acted as the reagent to produce ZnO nanoparticles, but also controlled the size of the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles and stabilize them after reaction. The size of ZnO nanoparticles were about 6 nm with narrow size distribution. Then the ZnO nanoparticles were utilized for the functional finishing of cotton fabrics by in situ generation and deposition method. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffiaction (XRD) measurements confirmed the ZnO nanoparticles coated on the cotton fibers. The treated cotton fabrics exhibited excellent UV protective properties and antibacterial activities. When the ZnO content in cotton fabric was 2.23 %, the UPF value of treated cotton fabric reached 114.4 and the bacterial reduction rates against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) both exceeded 98 %.

Abstract:Development and research on antibacterial textile already have been a hotspot home and abroad. The inorganic nano-ZnO has attracted much attention for its novel antimicrobial application on the textile. In this paper, nano-ZnO dispersion solution was prepared using sodium polycrylate (PAAS) and sodium silicate as dispersants, OP-10 as emulsifier and KH-570 as united agent. In the dispersed system, average granule diameter of the nano-ZnO was up to 53.16 nm. The silk fabrics treated with nano-ZnO had antibacterial performances, and their antibacterial rates reached 94.1% and 90.9% to E.coli and S.aureus, respectively.

Abstract:Due to the advantage of hyperbranched polymers on controlling synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs), this paper presents a method to fabricate ZnO NPs coated cotton fabrics via in situ generation and deposition in one-step reaction with amino-terminated hyperbranched polymer (HBP-NH2) to explore its application in textile finishing. Firstly, the mechanism of this reaction was proposed in detail. The treated cotton fabrics were then characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD), and the ultraviolet (UV) protective properties and antibacterial activities of the fabrics were measured. The results indicated that ZnO NPs with a diameter around 80nm dispersed on the surface of the cotton fabric well, the ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) value of the treated cotton fabric was 136 and the bacterial reduction rates against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli both exceeded 99%, when the concentration of HBP-NH2 and zinc nitrate were 16g/L and 96mM respectively.

Abstract:Nano-ZnO was successfully synthesized by a sol-gel method with an average size of 26.1 nm. The nano-ZnO was applied to coat the knitted poly(lactic acid) (PLA) fabric with or without further coating using a polyacrylate binder, and the UV protection ability and antibacterial activity of the coated fabric were determined. The results showed that coating with nano-ZnO alone was not able to impart good UV protection ability and antibacterial activity to the fabric, indicating the poor affinity of nano-ZnO to PLA fiber. The nano-ZnO sol coating followed by binder coating was able to give very high UV protection factor (38.3) and antibacterial activity (98.5%). The adhesive force of the binder contributed to the increased fixation of nano-ZnO on the fabric. In addition, the initial dosage of the binder had no significant impact on the UV protection ability of the fabric.

Abstract:Silk fabrics have poor resistance to ultraviolet (UV) light and to wrinkles. To improve these properties, we propose a finishing method of coating the silk fabric surface with nano-silica (nano-SiO2). The results show that the UV protective factor (UPF) value could reach a maximum of 84.52 after finishing in 10 g/L nano-SiO2 and 20 g/L silane coupling agent (KH570) solution at 80celcius. Moreover, the treated silk fabrics showed improved wrinkle resistance and hydrophobicity. The surface morphology and crosslink action of the treated silk fabrics were characterized by scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrometer and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, which proved that nano-SiO2 particles were grafted on to the silk fabric. There was no apparent difference in color between untreated and treated silk fabrics. Thermal stability and cytotoxicity tests showed that the treated silk fabrics had good thermostability and cytocompatibility. The UPF value could be maintained at 77.31 after washing 20 times, which demonstrated that the treated silk fabrics had laundry resistance. Multifunctional silk fabrics with good hydrophobic properties and excellent UV and wrinkle resistance were developed, showing good prospects for their application in self-cleaning, protective and non-ironing clothes.

Abstract:A simple impregnation method was employed to obtain functional cotton fabric based on a zinc oxide (ZnO) and cellulose nanocomposite. The cellulose nanofibril suspension was utilized to reduce the agglomeration of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and bind them to the surface of the fiber. Scanning electron microscopy and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry were used to confirm the presence of ZnO NPs on the surface of the fiber. The treated cotton fabrics exhibited high ultraviolet protection factor values, which were still higher than 50 even after 30 standard washing cycles. Furthermore, the treated samples showed a modest antibacterial effect due to the presence of ZnO NPs. Meanwhile, the treated cotton fabrics showed a decrease (less than 30%) in air permeability.

Abstract:This paper presents a facile and novel approach for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles in aqueous solution based on a one-step reaction between a modified hyperbranched polymer (PNP) and zinc nitrate. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles polymeric hybrid was characterized and its antibacterial activity was investigated. The results indicated that the ZnO nanoparticles have an average size about 6 nm and well dispersed in aqueous medium. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of them was 20 ppm and 60 ppm against S. aureus and E. coli , respectively. For the functional finishing of cotton fabrics by these ZnO nanoparticles, a microwave assisted in situ fabrication method was employed. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements confirmed that the ZnO nanoparticles in situ generated in cotton fabrics successfully. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic investigation demonstrated that the ZnO nanoparticles were fixed on the cotton fibers by PNP. The treated cotton fabrics exhibited excellent UV protective properties and antibacterial activities. When ZnO content of cotton fabric was 1.49 %, the UPF value of treated cotton fabric exceeded 125 and the bacterial reduction rate against S. aureus and E. coli reached 99.97 % and 98.40 %, respectively.

Abstract:In this study, superhydrophobic and UV-blocking silk fabrics are fabricated via one-step in-situ synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods on silk fabrics and further n-octadecanethiol (ODT) modification process. The surface composition, morphology, and wettability of modified silk fabrics are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and water contact angle (WCA). The as-prepared silk fabric exhibits superhydrophobic performance (WCA >150 degrees) and excellent anti-UV ability (UPF over 50). The obtained superhydrophobic surface shows excellent mechanical and chemical stability. The as-prepared multifunctional silk fabrics will be used in advanced protective textiles and self-cleaning fields. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Study of In Situ Generation and Deposition of ZnO Nanoparticles on Cotton Fabric by HBP-NH_2

Abstract:For the functional finishing of cotton fabrics, this paper presents a method of fabricating ZnO nanoparticles and depositing them on cotton fabric based on the interaction between HBP-NH2 and Zn(NO3)2 in aqueous solution. The mechanism was discussed in detail. The antibacterial activity and UV protective property of treated cotton fabrics were measured. The treated cotton fabrics were characterized. The results indicated that HBP-NH2 contributed to the preparation and performance improvement of ZnO. The treated cotton fabric showed excellent UV protective properties and a certain antibacterial activity. The UPF values and bacterial reduction rates enhanced with the increasing of ZnO content in cotton fabrics.

Abstract:A liquid precipitation method was used to prepare zinc oxide nanoparticles in three diverse media: water, methanol, and ethylene glycol. The studied materials were examined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns showed a hexagonal Wurtzite structure of zinc oxide with a nanocrystalline size. Acquired powders showed different morphologies (rod, star, and spherical structures), which were affected by the nature of the solvent in the reaction. The different zinc oxide powders have varied optical band gaps. Scanning electron microscopy examinations confirmed the arrangement of nano-zinc oxide on the surfaces of the materials. The zinc oxide-covering procedure was carried out on cotton, polyester, and 50/50 wt% polyester/cotton blended fabrics using a simple dip and curing system. The cotton fabric treated with nanorod zinc oxide exhibited the highest ultraviolet protection factor with a value of 247.2. The antimicrobial properties of untreated and treated fabrics with nano-zinc oxide were measured against Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli), Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), and diploid fungus (Candida albicans). The results showed the antimicrobial action relies on the morphological structure and the particle size of zinc oxide and that it increases with a reduced particle size. The cotton fabric treated with 26 nm nonspherical zinc oxide particles showed the highest antimicrobial efficiency with values of 91.4%, 86.8%, and 84.7% for Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans, respectively. The mechanical properties of treated fabrics were studied. The results confirm that nano-zinc oxide is highly useful for improving the performance of defense textile products because of its biocompatibility, environmental friendliness, and nontoxicity.

Abstract:This paper discussed the water resistance of various coating agents, UV protection of conventional and nano materials, as well as the compatibility between nano UV protective agent and solvent, PU coating agent, PA coating agent, pearl powder, silver paste and so on. It is found that nano UV protective agent M features good performance. In pearl-like coating, addition of 2% nano UV protective agent M can impart the fabric UPF above 30.

Abstract:Hyperbranched polymer HSDA was synthesized from methyl acrylate, tetraethylenepentamine, and dodecanoic acid by melt polycondensation. ZnO nanoparticle colloidal solution was prepared in one step by mixing Zn(NO 3 ) 2 and HSDA aqueous solution under hydrothermal condition. The results of transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy indicated that ZnO nanoparticles were formed in colloidal solution. Bamboo pulp fabric was treated with ZnO nanoparticle colloidal solution by an impregnation method to provide the bamboo pulp fabric with antibacterial and UV protective properties. The whiteness, antibacterial activity, UV protective property, and washing durability of the ZnO nanoparticle-treated fabrics were determined. The results indicated that the bamboo pulp fabric treated with ZnO nanoparticles showed good UV protective properties and its ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) can reach 90.38. The UPF value of treated fabric drops to 70.42 after washing for 20 times, but it retains good UV protective properties. The ZnO nanoparticle-treated fabric showed 99.91 % bacterial reduction of Staphylococcus aureus and 99.97 % bacterial reduction of Escherichia coli . The fabric retained over 98.93 % reduction level even after being exposed to 20 consecutive home-laundering conditions. In addition, the results of scanning electron microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy confirmed that ZnO nanoparticles were fixed and well dispersed on bamboo pulp fabric.

Abstract:To improve the functionality of silk fabric, self-made modified zinc oxide nanoparticles was used for anti-ultraviolet finishing of silk fabric, and the anti-ultraviolet and anti-yellowing properties of the fabric before and after finishing were tested.Zinc oxide nanoparticles of uniform size distribution (with an average particle size of 68.4 nm) and good dispersing performance were prepared by decomposition of the sediment zinc hydroxide directly synthesized by zinc salt and alkali under heating and surface modification of the sediment zinc hydroxide with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB).The silk fabric was treated with dipping method to improve its UPF to 50+ and largely enhance its anti-yellowing property.Through finishing, the whiteness of the silk fabric has been improved slightly, while its lustrousness, surface smoothness and soft performance degraded slightly.

Abstract:Textile processing with low hazardous chemicals in one step through a nano-assisted technique for multi-functional purposes is an important task. Here, the toxic carrier was replaced with zinc acetate in dyeing to modify the polyester fabric through the synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs), whereas polyester after conventional dyeing was followed by other required finishing to achieve functional properties. Disperse blue 19 and zinc acetate were used on different pre-treated fabrics at 130 °C for 1 h in diverse alkaline media. The dyeing effluent showed almost no remaining dye providing a clean route for the simultaneous nano-assisted processing. This eco-friendly, time-, and energy-saving technique exhibited an even distribution of ZnO-NPs on the fabric with reasonable dye adsorption. NaOH, as an alkaline, caused the smallest ZnO-NPs with the highest evenness. However, applying air plasma as a clean activation route on the fabric alongside alkali processing produced a higher color strength with the lowest cytotoxicity. Furthermore, the mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of polyester fabrics improved as noticeable achievements. Besides, excellent color fastness against washing, rubbing, and light obtained on all dyed and ZnO-NPs synthesized samples indicated the successful attachment of dye and nanoparticles on the fabric. In addition, the efficient product showed antibacterial features against S. aureus . Lastly, better stability in alkaline media specified for the dyed fabric included synthesized ZnO-NPs which led to an industrially advanced multi-functional product.
