Abstract:Aim:To study the protective effects of collagen polypeptide from Apostichopus japonicus (AJCP) on the skin of photoaging-model mice induced by ultraviolet irradiation. Methods: The model mice were orally administered AJCP, then the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidease (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydroxyproline (Hyp) were examined by assay kit, and the histology of skin tissue was observed by HE and Van Gieson staining method. Results: AJCP could enhance the activities of SOD, GSH-Px and CAT, decrease the contents of MDA in both serum and skin significantly, as well as the content of Hyp in skin significantly (P0.05, P0.01). Histological observation showed that AJCP could improve the damage degree of collagen fiber induced by ultraviolet irradiation. Conclusion: AJCP has the protective effect on the skin of photoaging-model mice via increasing the capacity of anti-oxidation.
