Effect of Hydroxyethylpuerarin on Expression of E-selectin and P-selectin in Rats with Focal Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To observe the effects of hydroxyethylpuerarin on expression of E-selectin and P-selectin in rats with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and explore its action mechanism.METHODS Rats were subjected to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO).After a 2 h ischemia and 24 h reperfusion,the protein and mRNA expression of E-selectin and P-selectin were evaluated by western blot and RT-PCR analysis.RESULTS Hydroxyethylpuerarin significantly reduced the expression of E-selectin and P-selectin in ischemic brain tissue induced by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.CONCLUSION Hydroxyethylpuerarin may attenuate brain ischemia injury by down-regulating the expression of adhesion molecules in ischemic brain tissues.
