Abstract:The asymptotic stability of Rosenbrock methods with variable stepsize for the linear system of pantograph equation was discussed, and it is shown that strictly stable at infinity Rosenbrock method with variable stepsize can preserve the asymptotic stability of underlying linear system. Numerical experiment further confirms the theoretical results of numerical analysis.

Abstract:The stability of a special kind of pantograph equation was studied. A sufficient condition of the asymptotic stability for the system was proposed through transformation. Furthermore, the variable stepsize was quoted. It is proved that the L -stable Runge-Kutta methods with variable stepsize preserve the stability of the equation.

Abstract:In this paper, the asymptotical stability of the analytic solution and the numerical methods with constant stepsize for pantograph equations is investigated using the Razumikhin technique. In particular, the linear pantograph equations with constant coefficients and variable coefficients are considered. The stability conditions of the analytic solutions of those equations and the numerical solutions of the θ-methods with constant stepsize are obtained. As a result Z. Jackiewicz’s conjecture is partially proved. Finally, some experiments are given.

Abstract:In the present paper, the modified Runge-Kutta method is constructed, and it is proved that the modified Runge-Kutta method preserves the order of accuracy of the original one. The necessary and sufficient conditions under which the modified Runge-Kutta methods with the variable mesh are asymptotically stable are given. As a result, the theta-methods with 1/2 <= theta <= 1, the odd stage Gauss-Legendre methods and the even stage Lobatto IIIA and IIIB methods are asymptotically stable. Some experiments are given.

Abstract:This paper deals with the stability of Runge-Kutta methods for a class of neutral infinite delay-differential equations with different proportional delays. Under suitable conditions, the asymptotic stability of some Runge-Kutta methods with variable stepsize are considered by the stability function at infinity. It is proved that the even-stage Gauss-Legendre methods are not asymptotically stable, but the Radau IA methods, Radau IIA methods and Lobatto IIIC methods are all asymptotically stable. Abstract:This paper considers the asymptotic stability analysis of both exact and numerical solutions of the following neutral delay differential equation with pantograph delay.{x'(t) + Bx(t) + Cx'(qt) + Dx(qt) = 0, t > 0, x(0) = x(0),where B, C, D is an element of C-dxd, q is an element of (0, 1), and B is regular. After transforming the above equation to non-automatic neutral equation with constant delay, we determine sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the zero solution. Furthermore, we focus on the asymptotic stability behavior of Runge-Kutta method with variable stepsize. It is proved that a L-stable Runge-Kutta method can preserve the above-mentioned stability properties.

Abstract:The paper deals with the asymptotical mean-square stability of the linear θ-methods under variable stepsize and transformation approach for stochastic pantograph diﬀerential equations. A limiting equation for the analysis of numerical stability is introduced by Kronecker products. Under the condition which guarantee the stability of exact solutions, the optimal stability region of the linear θ-methods under variable stepsize is given by using the limiting equation, i.e., θ ∈ (1/ 2,1], which is the same to the deterministic problems. Moreover the linear θ-methods under the transformation approach are also considered and the result of the stability is improved for θ = 1 /2. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the asymptotical meansquare stability under variable stepsize and transformation approach.

Abstract:This paper deals with the asymptotic stability analysis of Radau IIA methods for the pantograph delay equation. In recent years stability properties of numerical methods for this kind of equation have been studied by numerous authors who have considered meshes with fixed mesh. In general the developed techniques give rise to a non-ordinary recurrence relation. In this paper we study constrained variable stepsize schemes, suggested by theoretical and computational reasons, which lead to a non- stationary difference equation. We prove that Radau IIA methods are H-stable.

Abstract:The paper deals with the numerical asymptotical mean-square stability of split-step ? methods for stochastic pantograph differential equations, which is the generalization of deterministic pantograph equations. Instead of the quasi-geometric mesh, a fully-geometric mesh, widely used for deterministic problems, is employed. A useful technique, the limiting equation, for deterministic problems is also extended to stochastic problems based on Kronecker product. Under the exact stability condition, the stability region of the split-step ? methods is discussed, which is an improvement of some existing results. Moreover, such technique is also available to stochastic pantograph differential equations with Poisson jumps. Meanwhile, compared with the destabilization of Wiener process, the stabilization of Poisson jumps is replicated by numerical processes. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate that our numerical stability condition is nearly necessary for stochastic problems.
