Abstract:Energy security is one of the most important challenges to energy strategy and policy. It is argued that nations can alleviate the pressure for available petroleum supply by increasing the supply of alternative fuels. But undoubtedly, as the cost of alternative fuels was rather higher than that of conventional fuels, alternative fuels always lacked attractions to the fuel distribution buyers. In this paper, we explore the internal and external cost-benefit analysis of the supply chain members of conventional and alternative fuel supply chain, analyze the disruption risks of these two kinds of supply chains, and develop a dynamic framework to model the competition between them. It is supposed that the members of two kinds of supply chains are various decision makers with multiobjectives (e.g. maximizing profit, minimizing risk, and so on).
