Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the relative version of Tamano Theorem and give some characterizations of relative paracompactness in terms of relative normality of products of paracompact spaces and compact spaces, which gives an answer to a problem posed by Arhangel'skii in 2002.

Abstract:A product of compact normal spaces is normal; the product of a countably infinite collection of non-trivial spaces is normal if and only if it is countably paracompact and each of its finite sub-products is normal; if all powers of a space X are normal then X is compact: provided in each case that the spaces involved are T1. Here I examine the situation for infinite products not required to be T1 (or regular), extending or generalizing each of these facts. In addition, I prove some related results, give a number of examples, explore some alternative proofs, and close with some speculation regarding potential applications of these findings to category theory and lattice theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce some versions of relative connectedness of subspaces of a topological space and we give some facts and relations among them. We prove that these relative versions satisfy some of the classical properties of connectedness. Additionally, we apply our results to the theory of hyperspaces, aiming to address a general problem posed by Arhangel'skii (Comment Math Univ Carolin 36:305–325, 1995, Problem 3).

Abstract:Let (X,d,μ) be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss. In this article, the author develops a partial theory of paraproducts {Πj}j=13 defined via approximations of the identity with exponential decay (and integration 1), which are extensions of paraproducts defined via regular wavelets. Precisely, the author first obtains the boundedness of Π3 on Hardy spaces and then, via the methods of interpolation and the well-known T(1) theorem, establishes the endpoint estimates for {Πj}j=13. The main novelty of this paper is the application of the Abel summation formula to the establishment of some relations among the boundedness of {Πj}j=13, which has independent interests. It is also remarked that, throughout this article, μ is not assumed to satisfy the reverse doubling condition.

Abstract:For any generalized ordered space X with the underlying linearly ordered topological space X(u), let X* be the minimal closed linearly ordered extension of X and X be the minimal dense linearly ordered extension of X. The following results are obtained.(1) The projection mapping pi : X* -> X, pi(< x, i >) = x, is closed.(2) The projection mapping phi : (X) over tilde -> X(u), phi(< x, i >) = x, is closed.(3) X* is a monotone D-space if and only if X is a monotone D-space.(4) (X) over tilde is a monotone D-space if and only if X(u) is a monotone D-space.(5) For the Michael line M, (M) over tilde is a paracompact p-space, but not continuously Urysohn.

Abstract:The bounded linear regularity property plays a key role in the study of the strong convergence and/or convergence rate of the CQ algorithm for solving split feasibility problems. To establish some sufficient conditions ensuring the bounded linear regularity property for split feasibility problems in normed linear spaces, we introduce the notion of a relative regularity condition and its associated relative regularity constant in spirit of the regularity condition used in Burke and Ferris (1995) [12]. Based on convex analysis techniques, we explore equivalent characterizations of the relative regularity condition, which in particular extend the classical results in Burke and Ferris (1995) [12] from the Euclidean space to general normed linear spaces, and then establish some important and useful properties in terms of the related relative regularity constant. Consequently, we develop a new technique to establish some sufficient conditions ensuring the bounded linear regularity property for split feasibility problems in normed linear spaces. The sufficient conditions presented in this paper are in terms of the relative regularity constant, which seem completely new. Applied to the case of Hilbert spaces, our results extend and improve the corresponding ones in Wang et al. (2017) [35] by relaxing the relevant assumptions.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:For a Hausdorff space $Y$, a topological space $X$ and a map $g:X\to Y$, we present a connection between the relative sectional number of the first coordinate projection $\pi_{2,1}^Y:F(Y,2)\to Y$ with respect to $g$, and the coincidence property (CP) for $(X,Y;g)$, where $(X,Y;g)$ has the coincidence property (CP) if, for every map $f:X\to Y$, there is a point $x$ of $X$ such that $f(x)=g(x)$. Explicitly, we demonstrate that $(X,Y;g)$ has the CP if and only if 2 is the minimal cardinality of open covers $\{U_i\}$ of $X$ such that each $U_i$ admits a local lifting for $g$ with respect to $\pi_{2,1}^Y$. This characterisation connects a standard problem in coincidence theory to current research trends in sectional category and topological robotics. Motivated by this connection, we introduce the notion of relative topological complexity of a map.

Vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.
On middle box products and paracompact cardinals

Abstract:The paper gives several sufficient conditions on the paracompactness of box products with an arbitrary number of many factors and boxes of arbitrary size. The former include results on generalised metrisability and Sikorski spaces. Of particular interest are products of the type ${}^{<\kappa}\square 2^\lambda$, where we prove that for a regular uncountable cardinal $\kappa$, if ${}^{<\kappa}\square 2^\lambda$ is paracompact for every $\lambda\ge\kappa$, then $\kappa$ is at least inaccessible. The case of the products of the type ${}^{<\kappa}\square X^\lambda$ for $\kappa$ singular has not been studied much in the literature and we offer various results. The question if ${}^{<\kappa}\square 2^\lambda$ can be paracompact for all $\lambda$ when $\kappa$ is singular has been partially answered but remains open in general.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the compactifications of some topological spaces such that their remainders have countable tightness. We also study addition theorems for compacta. The main results are: (1) If bX is a compactification of a first-countable space X with a Gδ-diagonal (or a space X with a point-countable base) and bX∖X has countable tightness, then both bX and bX∖X have countable fan-tightness; (2) If a non-locally compact paratopological group G has a compactification bG such that the remainder bG∖G is the union of a finite family of metrizable subspaces, then G is locally separable and locally metrizable; (3) If a compact Hausdorff space Z=X∪Y, where X is a non-locally compact topological group which is a σ-space and dense in Z, and Y is a semitopological group, then Z is separable and metrizable; (4) If a compact Hausdorff space Z=X∪Y, where X is a non-locally compact paratopological group that has a countable network and is dense in Z, and Y is a semitopological group, then Z is separable and metrizable. Among them (2) and (3) improve the corresponding results given by A.V. Arhangel'skii in [7].

Abstract:Let $P$ be a directed set and $X$ a space. A collection $\mathcal{C}$ of subsets of $X$ is \emph{$P$-locally finite} if $\mathcal{C}=\bigcup \{ \mathcal{C}_p : p \in P\}$ where (i) if $p \le p'$ then $\mathcal{C}_p \subseteq \mathcal{C}_{p'}$ and (ii) each $\mathcal{C}_p$ is locally finite. Then $X$ is \emph{$P$-paracompact} if every open cover has a $P$-locally finite open refinement. Further, $X$ is \emph{$P$-metrizable} if it has a $(P \times \mathbb{N})$-locally finite base. This work provides the first detailed study of $P$-paracompact and $P$-metrizable spaces, particularly in the case when $P$ is a $\mathcal{K}(M)$, the set of all compact subsets of a separable metrizable space $M$ ordered by set inclusion.

Abstract:We show that the existing generalized separation statements including the conventional extremal principle and its extensions differ {in the ways norms on product spaces are defined}. We prove a general separation statement with arbitrary product norms covering the existing results of this kind. The proof is divided into a series of claims and exposes the key steps and arguments used when proving generalized separation statements. As an application, we prove dual necessary (sufficient) conditions for an abstract product norm extension of the approximate stationarity (transversality) property.

Abstract:We consider two families of subgroups of a group. Each subgroup which belongs to one family is contained in some subgroup which belongs to the other family. We then discuss relations of relative hyperbolicity for the group with respect to the two families, respectively. If the group is supposed to be hyperbolic relative to the two families, respectively, then we consider relations of relative quasiconvexity for a subgroup of the group with respect to the two families, respectively.

Abstract:If we consider a sequence of warped product length spaces, what conditions on the sequence of warping functions implies compactness of the sequence of distance functions? In particular, we want to know when a subsequence converges to a well defined metric space on the same manifold with the same topology. What conditions on the sequence of warping functions implies Lipschitz bounds for the sequence of distance functions and/or the limiting distance function? In this paper we give answers to both of these questions as well as many examples which elucidate the theorems and show that our hypotheses are necessary.

Abstract:This paper focuses on investigating generalized relative interior notions for sets in locally convex topological vector spaces with particular attentions to graphs of set-valued mappings and epigraphs of extended-real-valued functions. We introduce, study, and utilize a novel notion of quasi-near convexity of sets that is an infinite-dimensional extension of the widely acknowledged notion of near convexity. Quasi-near convexity is associated with the quasi-relative interior of sets, which is investigated in the paper together with other generalized relative interior notions for sets, not necessarily convex. In this way, we obtain new results on generalized relative interiors for graphs of set-valued mappings in convexity and generalized convexity settings.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a dichotomy theorem for remainders in compactifications of paratopological groups: every remainder of a paratopological group $G$ is either Lindelöf and meager or Baire. Moreover, we give a negative answer for a question posed by D. Basile and A. Bella in \cite{B1}, and some questions about remainders of paratopological groups are posed in the paper.

Abstract:We consider the relationship between normality and semi-proximality. We give a consistent example of a first countable locally compact Dowker space that is not semi-proximal, and two ZFC examples of semi-proximal non-normal spaces. This answers a question of Nyikos. One of the examples is a subspace of $(\omega+1) \times \omega_1$. In contrast, we show that every normal subspace of a finite power of $\omega_1$ is semi-proximal.

Abstract:Gromov and Sormani conjectured that a sequence of three dimensional Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature and some additional uniform geometric bounds should have a subsequence which converges in some sense to a limit space with generalized notion of nonnegative scalar curvature. In this paper, we study the pre-compactness of a sequence of three dimensional warped product manifolds with warped circles over standard $\mathbb{S}^2$ that have nonnegative scalar curvature, a uniform upper bound on the volume, and a positive uniform lower bound on the MinA, which is the minimum area of closed minimal surfaces in the manifold. We prove that such a sequence has a subsequence converging to a $W^{1, p}$ Riemannian metric for all $p<2$, and that the limit metric has nonnegative scalar curvature in the distributional sense as defined by Lee-LeFloch.

Compactness of any Countable Product of Compact Metric Spaces in Product Topology without Using Tychonoff's Theorem

Abstract:For infinite products of compact spaces, Tychonoff's theorem asserts that their product is compact, in the product topology. Tychonoff's theorem is shown to be equivalent to the axiom of choice. In this paper, we show that any countable product of compact metric spaces is compact, without using Tychonoff's theorem. The proof needs only basic and standard facts of compact metric spaces and the Bolzano-Weierstrass property. Moreover, the component spaces need not be assumed to be copies of the same compact metric space, and each component space can be an arbitrary nonempty compact metric space independently. Total boundedness together with completeness of a metric space implies its compactness. Completeness of a product of complete spaces is easily inferred from the completeness of each component. Total boundedness therefore suffices to prove the compactness of a product space consisting of countably (infinitely) many nonempty compact component spaces. The countable infiniteness is needed in the proof to exhibit a standard metric that gives rise to the product topology. Any such metric topology for the product arises as exhibited, and they are all equivalent to the product topology. The requirement of summability of the sequences restricts the scope of the result to countably infinite products. In summary, the product space obtained by taking the product of any sequence of nonempty compact metric spaces in the product topology is shown to be compact, using only the basic and standard facts of compact metric spaces. In conclusion, compactness of the product of a countably infinitely many nonempty compact metric spaces can be proved within Cantor's set theory, without using the axiom of choice and Tychonoff's theorem.

Abstract:If ( S , J ) is a zero-dimensional local ring, K=S/J its residue class field and D an integral domain with quotient field K , we show that twin notions of relative perinormality (N. Epstein, J. Shapiro, Perinormality in pullbacks Journal of Commutative Algebra 11 (3):341–362, 2019) and relative global perinormality (H. Klawa, Globally perinormal domains and graded perinormality, Doctoral Dissertation , George Mason University, 2023) are preserved by a pullback construction R=D×KS. As a byproduct, we recover the preservation of these notions in a new pullback construction of Chang et al. and idealization.
