Abstract:The adakitic rocks recently revealed in Heishishan Region, Gansu Province, intruding into the volcanic rocks of Baiyin continental island are, eastern section of northern Qilian orogenic belt, consist mainly of trondjemite, granodiorite and granite-porphyry, with high contents of Sr and low contents of Y, Sr/Y > 40; enrichment in LREE, Na (Na2, O/K2, O > 2) and SiO2, but depletion in HREE, La/Yb > 20, and no negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 1.0 - 1.19). Compared with the typical subducted slabmelting generated adakites, the adakitic rocks in Heishishan have higher SiO2 and lower MgO, Mg#(∼46), Cr ( ∼11. 6μg/g) and Ni (∼6. 2μg/g), indicating no obvious interaction of the primary adakitic melt with mantle peridotite, so they can not directly origin from the subducted slab-melting; compared with the high-K calc-alkaline adakitic rocks of Yanshanian period in eastern China, they have higher Na, O (Na2 O > 4.0%), similar to Cordilera Blanca granitoid (non-slab-melting generated adakites), may origin from the partial melting of the thickened lower crust of intermediate-basic rocks. Existence of the adakitic rocks in Heishishan Region shows that the eastern section of north Qilian may predominately experience the tectonic evolution of close of north Qilian ocean to collision of the plates, and then thickness of the continental marginal crust, underplating of basaltic magma, and to the reworking of the lower crust during late early-paleozoic. Meanwhile, it should be pointed out that porphyry copper and gold deposits related to the adakitic rocks in the region can be new ore-prospecting strategy.
