Abstract:The state evolution of quantum teleportation for different types of continuous variables is mathematically analyzed based on the measurement theory of quantum mechanics.The fidelities in different systems are deduced.Our results show that for different input state the expressions of fidelity and the nonclassical boundary are different.Comparing with the coherent state,when the input state is a nonclassical state higher quantum entanglement is required for obtaining the same fidelity.

Abstract:We consider the transmission of classical information over a quantum channelby two senders. The channel capacity region is shown to be a convex hull boundby the Von Neumann entropy and the conditional Von Neumann entropy. We discusssome possible applications of our result. Abstract:Quantum information processing exploits the quantum nature of information. It offers fundamentally new solutions in the field of computer science and extends the possibilities to a level that cannot be imagined in classical communication systems. For quantum communication channels, many new capacity definitions were developed in comparison to classical counterparts. A quantum channel can be used to realize classical information transmission or to deliver quantum information, such as quantum entanglement. Here we review the properties of the quantum communication channel, the various capacity measures and the fundamental differences between the classical and quantum channels.

Abstract:When given an unknown quantum state which may be either a pure or a mixed state in the coherent state representation, we show that explicit expressions for the teleported state and its fidelity in the teleportation process (S. Abstract:When sending a quantum state which originally has nonclassical properties such as various kinds of squeezing and photon antibunching effects according to the protocol for teleportation of continuous variables [S. L. Braunstein and H. J. Kimble, Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 869 (1998)], we investigate to what extent those nonclassical properties can be preserved in the teleported field. Explicit conditions of the squeezing parameter for the second- and fourth-order quadrature-phase squeezings, the squared amplitude squeezing, and the photon antibunching effect to survive in the teleported field are obtained.

Abstract:We consider quantum channels with two senders and one receiver. For an arbitrary such channel, we give multi-letter characterizations of two different two-dimensional capacity regions. The first region is comprised of the rates at which it is possible for one sender to send classical information, while the other sends quantum information. The second region consists of the rates at which each sender can send quantum information. For each region, we give an example of a channel for which the corresponding region has a single-letter description. One of our examples relies on a new result proved here, perhaps of independent interest, stating that the coherent information over any degradable channel is concave in the input density operator. We conclude with connections to other work and a discussion on generalizations where each user simultaneously sends classical and quantum information.

Abstract:The efficiency of continuous-variable quantum teleportation is typically quantified by fidelity especially in experiment. From the original definition of fidelity in two pure states, we give an expansion of fidelity which is related to the variances of output and input states. With a coherent or a squeezed input state, it is convenient to quantify the quantum teleportation experiment, since the variances of quadrature components of the input and output states are measurable. Furthermore, the fidelity was discussed when the quantum channel lies in the phase-and amplitude-noisy environment, which is unavoidable in experiment, and this showed that the effect of phase noise on teleportation is more sensitive than that of the amplitude-noisy environment. The classical fidelity limit of squeezed state quantum teleportation is also obtained when the entanglement resources do not exist.

Abstract:Port-based teleportation is generalization of the standard teleportation protocol which does not require unitary operations by the receiver. This comes at the price of requiring $N>1$ entangled pairs, while $N=1$ for the standard teleportation protocol. The lack of correction unitaries allows port-based teleportation to be used as a fundamental theoretical tool to simulate arbitrary channels with a general resource, with applications to study fundamental limits of quantum communication, cryptography and sensing, and to define general programmable quantum computers. Here we introduce a general formulation of port-based teleportation in continuous variable systems and study in detail the $N=2$ case. In particular, we interpret the resulting channel as an energy truncation and analyse the kinds of channels that can be naturally simulated after this restriction.

Abstract:We investigate the continuous variable quantum teleportation in atmosphere channels. The beam-wandering model is employed to analyze the teleportation of the unknown single-mode coherent state. Two methods, one is deterministic by increasing the aperture size of the detecting device and one is probabilistic by entanglement distillation, are proposed to improve the teleportation fidelity in the presence of atmosphere noises.

Abstract:We consider a quantum bosonic channel that couples the input mode via a beam splitter or two-mode squeezer to an environmental mode that is prepared in an arbitrary state. We investigate the classical capacity of this channel, which we call a non-Gaussian attenuator or amplifier channel. If the environment state is thermal, we of course recover a Gaussian phase-covariant channel whose classical capacity is well known. Otherwise, we derive both a lower and an upper bound to the classical capacity of the channel, drawing inspiration from the classical treatment of the capacity of non-Gaussian additive-noise channels. We show that the lower bound to the capacity is always achievable and give examples where the non-Gaussianity of the channel can be exploited so that the communication rate beats the capacity of the Gaussian-equivalent channel (i.e., the channel where the environment state is replaced by a Gaussian state with the same covariance matrix). Finally, our upper bound leads us to formulate and investigate conjectures on the input state that minimizes the output entropy of non-Gaussian attenuator or amplifier channels. Solving these conjectures would be a main step towards accessing the capacity of a large class of non-Gaussian bosonic channels.

On the Teleportation of Discrete Variable Qubits Via Continuous Variable Lossy Channels

Abstract:The Continuous-Variable (CV) quantum state of light allows for the teleportation of a Discrete-Variable (DV) photonic qubit. Such an operation is useful in the realm of hybrid quantum networks. However, it is known that the teleportation of a DV qubit via a Gaussian CV resource channel is severely limited under channel loss, with a teleportation fidelity beyond the classical limit unattainable for losses exceeding a small threshold of 0.5 dB. In this work, we present a new non-deterministic teleportation protocol that combines a Gaussian CV resource channel with a modified form of the Bell State Measurement that accommodates a DV-qubit fidelity beyond the classical limit for channel losses up to 20~dB. Beyond this orders of magnitude improvement, we also show how the use of non-Gaussian operations on the CV resource channel can lead to a DV-qubit fidelity approaching unity for any channel loss.

Abstract:Very recently we have witnessed a new development of quantum information, the so-called continuous variable (CV) quantum information theory. Such a further development has been mainly due to the experimental and theoretical advantages offered by CV systems, i.e., quantum systems described by a set of observables, like position and momentum, which have a continuous spectrum of eigenvalues. According to this novel trend, quantum information protocols like quantum teleportation have been suitably extended to the CV framework. Here, we briefly review some mathematical tools relative to CV systems and we consequently develop the concepts of quantum entanglement and teleportation in the CV framework, by analogy with the qubit-based approach. Some connections between teleportation fidelity and entanglement properties of the underlying quantum channel are inspected. Next, we face the study of CV quantum teleportation networks where more users share a multipartite state and an arbitrary pair of them performs quantum teleportation. In this context, we show alternative protocols and we investigate the optimal strategy that maximizes the performance of the network.

Abstract:Teleportation is viewed as a quantum channel. We present an explicit expression for the general teleportation channel in the Kraus decomposition form. We then analyse optimal teleportation procedures for a noisy entangled resource, Bell measurement by the sender and arbitrary operations by the receiver. Our general result allows us to derive the corresponding quantum channel and fidelity, thereby enabling us to formulate the fidelity-based optimization problem and to conclude that this is a problem of semidefinite programming. We offer an alternative viewpoint on optimal teleportation, namely one can perform corrective operations at the receiver's side instead of first manipulating entanglement, and we give an optimal teleportation strategy.

Abstract:We consider the problem of transmitting classical and quantum information reliably over an entanglement-assisted quantum channel. Our main result is a capacity theorem that gives a three-dimensional achievable rate region. Points in the region are rate triples, consisting of the classical communication rate, the quantum communication rate, and the entanglement consumption rate of a particular coding scheme. The crucial protocol in achieving the boundary points of the capacity region is a protocol that we name the classically-enhanced father protocol. The classically-enhanced father protocol is more general than other protocols in the family tree of quantum Shannon theoretic protocols, in the sense that several previously known quantum protocols are now child protocols of it. The classically-enhanced father protocol also shows an improvement over a time-sharing strategy for the case of a qubit dephasing channel--this result justifies the need for simultaneous coding of classical and quantum information over an entanglement-assisted quantum channel. Our capacity theorem is of a multi-letter nature (requiring a limit over many uses of the channel), but it reduces to a single-letter characterization for at least three channels: the completely depolarizing channel, the quantum erasure channel, and the qubit dephasing channel.

This method provides the connection between the teleportation and the reversible quantum operations. Abstract:We present a communication protocol for the erasure channel assisted by backward classical communication, which achieves a significantly better rate than the best prior result. In addition, we prove an upper bound for the capacity of the channel. The upper bound is smaller than the capacity of the erasure channel when it is assisted by two-way classical communication. Thus, we prove the separation between quantum capacities assisted by backward classical communication and two-way classical communication.

Abstract:In this paper we show that the quantum channel between two inertial observers who transmit quantum information by sending realistic photonic wave packets is a well-studied channel in quantum Shannon theory -- the Pauli channel. The parameters of the Pauli channel and therefore its classical and quantum capacity depend on the magnitude of the Lorentz boost relating the two observers. The most striking consequence is that two inertial observers whose Pauli channel has initially zero quantum capacity can achieve nonzero quantum communication rates (reaching in principle its maximal value equal to one) by applying a boost in the right direction. This points to a fundamental connection between quantum channel capacities and special relativity.

Abstract:For any quantum discrete memoryless channel, we define a quantity called quantum entanglement capacity with classical feedback ($E_B$), and we show that this quantity lies between two other well-studied quantities. These two quantities - namely the quantum capacity assisted by two-way classical communication ($Q_2$) and the quantum capacity with classical feedback ($Q_B$) - are widely conjectured to be different: there exists quantum discrete memoryless channel for which $Q_2>Q_B$. We then present a general scheme to convert any quantum error-correcting codes into adaptive protocols for this newly-defined quantity of the quantum depolarizing channel, and illustrate with Cat (repetition) code and Shor code. We contrast the present notion with entanglement purification protocols by showing that whilst the Leung-Shor protocol can be applied directly, recurrence methods need to be supplemented with other techniques but at the same time offer a way to improve the aforementioned Cat code. For the quantum depolarizing channel, we prove a formula that gives lower bounds on the quantum capacity with classical feedback from any $E_B$ protocols. We then apply this formula to the $E_B$ protocols that we discuss to obtain new lower bounds on the quantum capacity with classical feedback of the quantum depolarizing channel.
