Abstract:With the Munczek-Nemirovsky model of the effective gluon propagator in the global colour model, we study the radially excited solitons in which one quark is excited and the other two are at the ground state. The obtained masses of two radial excitations are comparable with the experimental data.

Abstract:With a sophisticated effective gluon propagator, Maris-Tandy model, we solve the Dyson-Schwinger equation to get the quark propagator and then study the soliton solution in the global color model (GCM). Along the constraints on the parameters fitted to the pion decay constant, we take several sets of parameters and find that some of the properties of soliton can be produced in the GCM soliton model with a special choice of parameters. We also discuss the influences of the parameters and the ultraviolet perturbative term on the property of the soliton. We find that the interaction among quarks is the one with self-adjusting characteristic and only the fine-tuned interaction can generate an appropriate solition, but not that much stronger attraction produces more stable soliton.

Abstract:In the previous Letter (Zheng C L and Zhang J F 2002 Chin. Phys. Lett. 19 1399), a localized excitation of the generalized Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (GAKNS) system was obtained via the standard Painleve truncated expansion and a special variable separation approach. In this work, starting from a new variable separation approach,a more general variable separation excitation of this system is derived. The abundance of the localized coherent soliton excitations like dromions, lumps, rings, peakons and oscillating soliton excitations can be constructed by introducing appropriate lower-dimensional soliton patterns. Meanwhile we discuss two kinds of interactions of solitons. One is the interaction between the travelling peakon type soliton excitations, which is not completely elastic. The other is the interaction between the travelling ring type soliton excitations, which is completely elastic.

Abstract:The ground state of QCD with two flavors at a finite baryon chemical potential under rapid rotation is a chiral soliton lattice (CSL) of the Î· meson, consisting of a stack of sine-Gordon solitons carrying a baryon number, due to the anomalous coupling of the Î· meson to the rotation. In a large parameter region, the ground state becomes a non-Abelian CSL, in which due to the neutral pion condensation each Î· soliton decays into a pair of non-Abelian sine-Gordon solitons carrying S 2 moduli originated from Nambu-Goldstone (NG) modes localized around it, corresponding to the spontaneously broken vector symmetry SU(2) V . There, the S 2 modes of neighboring solitons are anti-aligned, and these modes should propagate in the transverse direction of the lattice due to the interaction between the S 2 modes of neighboring solitons. In this paper, we calculate excitations including gapless NG modes and excited modes around non-Abelian and Abelian ( Î· ) CSLs, and find three gapless NG modes with linear dispersion relations (type-A NG modes): two isospinons ( S 2 modes) and a phonon corresponding to the spontaneously broken vector SU(2) V and translational symmetries around the non-Abelian CSL, respectively, and only a phonon for the Abelian CSL because of the recovering SU(2) V . We also find in the deconfined phase that the dispersion relation of the isospinons becomes of the Dirac type, i.e. linear even at large momentum.

Abstract:Within the framework of QCD sum rules, we use the least-squares fitting method to investigate the first radial excitations of the nucleon and light mesons such as rho, K*, pi, and phi. The extracted masses of these radial excitations are consistent with the experimental data. In particular, we find that the decay constant of pi(1300), which is the first radial excitation of pi, is tiny and is strongly suppressed as a consequence of chiral symmetry.

Abstract:We introduce a system combining the quadratic self-attractive or composite quadratic-cubic nonlinearity, acting in the combination with the fractional diffraction, which is characterized by its Lévy index $\alpha $. The model applies to a gas of quantum particles moving by Lévy flights, with the quadratic term representing the Lee-Huang-Yang correction to the mean-field interactions. A family of fundamental solitons is constructed in a numerical form, while the dependence of its norm on the chemical potential characteristic is obtained in an exact analytical form. The family of \textit{quasi-Townes solitons}, appearing in the limit case of $\alpha =1/2$, is investigated by means of a variational approximation. A nonlinear lattice, represented by spatially periodical modulation of the quadratic term, is briefly addressed too. The consideration of the interplay of competing quadratic (attractive) and cubic (repulsive) terms with a lattice potential reveals families of single-, double-, and triple-peak gap solitons (GSs) in two finite bandgaps. The competing nonlinearity gives rise to alternating regions of stability and instability of the GS, the stability intervals shrinking with the increase of the number of peaks in the GS.

Abstract:It is shown in this paper that the vacuum configuration of the bilocal field in the global color symmetry model (GCM) can be calculated in the instanton dilute liquid approximation. As only the excitation of Goldstone bosons is taken into account, the relative motion against the vacuum is equivalent to the dynamical mass of a quark. The bilocal field generating the mesons a and a in the GCM is then determined. With the determined bilocal field and the effective action, the masses and the decay constants of the mesons a and a, and the decay width of sigma --> pi pi are calculated in the GCM. The calculated results agree with experimental data quite well.

Abstract:We derive an effective colour chiral action with a background gauge field. The action describes configurations of soliton-skyrmion type. Kinetic term constant f02, analogue of fπ2, is a phenomenological dimensional parameter of the model; d=4 terms are unique up to the choice of background gauge field. The case of SU(2) colour group is discussed in detail. We study an isolated configuration, i.e., a configuration in a background field which is the vacuum field forming the gluon condensate. Thereby we introduce the condensate energy as a second parameter and scale. Compared with the case of flavor skyrmion configuration, the colour chiral action contains a piece with slowly decreasing terms coming from the background vacuum field. Asymptotic behaviour at large distances shows exponential decrease for the case of chromomagnetic condensates and periodic otherwise. This defines a stability region for a colour soliton. The mass is given by the positive definite integrand for a soliton of purely bosonization origin. Contribution from the Yang–Mills action of the background colour field has the sign opposite to bosonization part. The baryon number current is not influenced by the background field and leads to the standard baryon number B=NF/NC. For B=1/3 we evaluated the estimate from above M≈460 MeV.

Abstract:We calculate the property of the global color symmetry soliton with the pion field being included explicitly. The calculated results indicate that the pion field provides a strong attraction so that the eigenenergy of a quark and the mass of a soliton reduce drastically, in contrast to those with only the sigma field.

Abstract:Based on the quark propagator in the instanton dilute liquid approximation, we calculate analytically the quark condensate $<\bar{q}q>$, the mixed quark gluon condensate $g_{s}<\bar{q}G_{\mu\nu}\sigma^{\mu\nu}q>$ and the four quark condensate $<\bar{q} \Gamma q\bar{q} \Gamma q>$ at the mean field level in the framework of global color symmetry model. The numerical calculation shows that the values of these condensates are compatible with the ranges determined by other nonperturbative approaches. Moreover, we find that for nonlocal four quark condensate the previous vacuum saturation assumption is not a good approximation even at the mean field level.

Abstract:The relation between the axial vector current of current quark and that of constituent quark has been studied within the framework of the global color symmetry model. Gluon dressing of the axial vector vertex and the quark self-energy function are described by the inhomogeneous Bethe-Salpeter equation in the ladder approximation and the Schwinger-Dyson equation in the rainbow approximation, respectively.
The collective excitation of nuclear matter in a bosonized Landau Fermi liquid model

Abstract:The collective excitation of nuclear matter is analyzed in a bosonized Landau Fermi liquid model. When the nonlinear self-interacting terms of scalar mesons are included in Walecka model, the collective excitation energy of nuclear matter can be obtained self-consistently, and the calculation results are consistent with the corresponding experimental data of the nucleus ${}^{208}Pb$ when the quantum number of the orientation of the total spin $m$ is zero. The cases with the nonzero $m$ values are also studied, and it is found that the collective excitation energy of nuclear matter decreases with the absolute value of $m$ increasing when the total spin is conserved. Moreover, four kinds of collective excitation modes of nuclear matter are discussed when the isospin and spin of nucleons are taken into account. The direct interaction between two nucleons near Fermi surface only changes the effective nucleon mass and Fermi velocity, while the exchange interaction plays an critical role in the collective excitation of nuclear matter.

Abstract:Based on the quark propagator in the instanton dilute liquid approximation, we have determined the quark condensate , the mixed quark gluon condensate and the four-quark condensate at the mean-field level in the framework of global color symmetry model. The numerical calculation shows that our result is compatible with the range obtained within other nonperturbative approaches. In particular, we have found that even at the mean-field level the naive vacuum saturation approximation is not a good approximation when we consider nonlocal four-quark condensate.

Abstract:The chiral quark soliton model (CQSM) is one of the most successful models of baryons at quark level, which maximally incorporates the most important feature of low energy QCD, i.e. the chiral symmetry and its spontaneous breakdown. Basically, it is a relativistic mean-field theory with full account of infinitely many Dirac-sea quarks in a rotational-symmetry-breaking mean field of hedgehog shape. The numerical technique established so far enables us to make a nonperturbative evaluation of Casimir effects (i.e. effects of vacuum-polarized Dirac sea) on a variety of baryon observables. This incompatible feature of the model manifests most clearly in its predictions for parton distribution functions of the nucleon. In this talk, after briefly reviewing several basic features of the CQSM, we plan to demonstrate in various ways that this unique model of baryons provides us with an ideal tool for disentangling nonperturbative aspect of the internal partonic structure of the nucleon, especially the underlying spin structure function of the nucleon.

Abstract:We study the model of an Abelian vector field with Chern–Simons terms coupled to fermions in dimensions and quantize it canonically using the Dirac–Bergmann algorithm. An equivalent theory of constructed vortex field is established in the Hamiltonian formalism in which the long-range interaction has been removed and short-range interaction is taken up the former position. These vortex fields obey the fractional statistics in general, make the long-range effect in its structure, and satisfy a set of Bogomol'nyi-type equations. We further show the exotic statistics for these configurations and establish an angular-momentum-anomaly connection.

Abstract:By using a full many-body approach, we calculate the excitation energy, the effective mass and the density profile of soliton states in a three dimensional Bose gas of hard spheres at zero temperature. The many-body wave function used to describe the soliton contains a one-body term, derived from the solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, and a two-body Jastrow term which accounts for the repulsive correlations between atoms. We optimize the parameters in the many-body wave function via a Variational Monte Carlo procedure, calculating the grand-canonical energy and the canonical momentum of the system in a moving reference frame where the soliton is stationary. As the density of the gas is increased, significant deviations from the mean-field predictions are found for the excitation energy and the density profile of both dark and grey solitons. In particular, the soliton effective mass $m^\ast$ and the mass $m\Delta N$ of missing particles in the region of the density depression are smaller than the result from the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, their ratio being however well reproduced by this theory up to large values of the gas parameter. We also calculate the profile of the condensate density around the soliton notch finding good agreement with the prediction of the local density approximation.

Abstract:It is shown that the effective gluon propagator in the global color symmetry model can be calculated in the instanton dilute liquid approximation. The calculated effective gluon propagator is consistent with the general command on the qualitative features of the gluon propagator, i.e., (i) the gluon propagator is significantly enhanced at small space-like k(2), and (ii) for k(2) > 1.5 GeV2 the perturbative results are quantitatively reliable.
A variational study of some hadron bag models

Abstract:Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is the theory of strong interaction and accounts for the internal structure of hadrons. Physicists introduced phe- nomenological models such as the M.I.T. bag model, the bag approximation and the soliton bag model to study the hadronic properties. We prove, in this paper, the existence of excited state solutions in the symmetric case and of a ground state solution in the non-symmetric case for the soliton bag and the bag approximation models thanks to the concentration compactness method. We show that the energy functionals of the bag approximation model are Gamma -limits of sequences of soliton bag model energy functionals for the ground and excited state problems. The pre- compactness, up to translation, of the sequence of ground state solutions associated with the soliton bag energy functionals in the non-symmetric case is obtained combining the Gamma -convergence theory and the concentration-compactness method. Finally, we give a rigorous proof of the original derivation of the M.I.T. bag equations done by Chodos, Jaffe, Johnson, Thorn and Weisskopf via a limit of bag approximation ground state solutions in the spherical case. The supersymmetry property of the Dirac operator is the key point in many of our arguments.

Abstract:The approximate analytical expressions of tripole-mode and quadrupole-mode solitons in (1 + 1)-dimensional nematic liquid crystals are obtained by applying the variational approach. It is found that the soliton powers for the two types of solitons are not equal with the same parameters, which is much different from their counterparts in the Snyder-Mitchell model (an ideal and typical strongly nolocal nonlinear model). The numerical simulations show that for the strongly nonlocal case, by expanding the response function to the second order, the approximate soliton solutions are in good agreement with the numerical results. Furthermore, by expanding the respond function to the higher orders, the accuracy and the validity range of the approximate soliton solutions increase. If the response function is expanded to the tenth order, the approximate solutions are still valid for the general nonlocal case.
