Abstract:This study is to detect the near clinical and side effects of cryosurgical ablation for prostate cancer. The ENDOCARE cryosurgical system with 2mm cryo-probes was used to treat prostate cancer guided by rectal ultrasound. To observe: 1. completeness of cryoablation; 2. complications; 3. change of PSA and PSMA before and after surgery. We found that: 1. The completeness of freeze rate and non-completeness of freeze rate was 33.3% (10/30) and 66.6% (20/30) respectively from the MRI observation after 3 weeks. The biopsy results show that the tumor's positive rate in the completeness of the freeze group and the non-completeness of freeze group was 0 and 15% (3/20) after 6 months; 2. The incontinence rate was 13%, all recovered to normal in 1 month; and the erection dysfunction rate post surgery was 56.2% (9/16). 3. The level of PSA before and after cryosurgical ablation was 32.98 ± 35.50μg/L, 11.65 ± 26.51μg/L, respectively (P<0.05). PSMA increased significantly after cryoablation. In summary, the near curative effects of cryosurgical ablation, guided by rectal ultrasound for prostate cancer is satisfactory with low complication rate and minor wounds.
