Abstract:Objective: To study the biomechanics property and its' clinical characteristics of renal trauma. Method: A total of 326 patients with renal trauma, who had been treated from January, 2000 to January, 2006 in our hospital, and the clinical effects of the biomechanics were analyzed. Results: The renal wound grade, the rate of nephrectomy and mortality increased with the increase of the momentum. There were significant differences among them (P < 0.05). The incidence rate of the closure or associated injury in the blunt wounds was higher than that in sharp wounds. The rate of nephrectomy in the blunt wounds was also lower than that in the latter (P < 0.01). The renal wound grade was higher if the violence came from post-waist abdomen than it came from direct or lateral abdomen, and the rate of associated wound was relatively lower than the latter (P < 0.05). There was no significant correlation between the tendency of velocity change and the wound grades or the rate of nephretomy and mortality (P > 0.05). Conclusions: There was closely relationship between the biomechanics of violence and its clinical behavior.
