Abstract:Achondroplasia (ACH) is the most common form ofskeletal dysplasia characterized by disproportionatelyshort stature, lumbar lordosis, relative macrocephaly andother skeletal anomalies resulting from a defect in thematuration of the chondrocytes in the growth plate of thecartilage. The combined frequency of the disease hasbeen estimated to be 1 in 15 000 live births.
