Abstract:Aim: To evaluate the chemical constituents in Gentiana waltonii Burkill. Methods: Isolation and purification of the compounds were carried out by column chromatography with macroporous resin, silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, Rp-18 silica gel and preparative HPLC. Structural identification of compounds was based on spectral data analysis. Results: Ten compounds were obtained from Getaiana waltonii and identified as gentiolactone (1), 2-methoxyanofinic acid (2), 4, 6-dihydroxy-2-methoxyacetophenone (3), scopoletin(4), 6′-(2, 3-dihydroxybenzoyl) sweroside (5), 3′-acetylsweroside (6), 4-O-glycosyloxy-2-hydroxy-6-methoxyacetophenone (7), swertiamarin (8), sweroside (9) and gentiopicroside (10). Conclusion: Compounds 3, 4, and 7 were isolated from the genus Gentiana for the first time. Compounds 1 10 were isolated from this plant for the first time.
