Abstract:In this paper, we give a method for calculating the elements of the inverse of a general nonsingular five-diagonal matrix. The derivation of the result is principally based on the augmented matrix of the original five-diagonal matrix. The inverse of a Toeplitz five-diagonal matrix is also considered. We discuss the operations of our algorithm. At last, numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. The method presented in this paper is an effective and stable method.
