Abstract:In this paper, we consider the stability of impulsive neutral systems. By using Lyapunov function and analysis inequality analysis technique, we obtain a result for the stability of impulsive neutral systems. An example is also discussed to illustrate the efficiency of the result.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of absolute stability and robust stability of a class of neutral systems with sector-bounded nonlinearity and mixed time-varying delays. Some new delay-dependent stability criteria are presented based on Lyapunov stability theory and formulated in terms of strict linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Neither model transformation nor bounding technique for cross terms is required in obtaining the stability conditions. Since both the neutral- and discrete-delays are taken into account, the obtained criterion is less conservative than the previous ones, which is illustrated by numerical examples.

Abstract:In this paper, the finite-time stability and instability are studied for nonlinear impulsive systems. There are mainly four concerns. 1) For the system with stabilizing impulses, a Lyapunov theorem on global finite-time stability is presented. 2) When the system without impulsive effects is globally finite-time stable (GFTS) and the settling time is continuous at the origin, it is proved that it is still GFTS over any class of impulse sequences, if the mixed impulsive jumps satisfy some mild conditions. 3) For systems with destabilizing impulses, it is shown that to be finite-time stable, the destabilizing impulses should not occur too frequently, otherwise, the origin of the impulsive system is finite-time instable, which are formulated by average dwell time (ADT) conditions respectively. 4) A theorem on finite-time instability is provided for system with stabilizing impulses. For each GFTS theorem of impulsive systems considered in this paper, the upper boundedness of settling time is given, which depends on the initial value and impulsive effects. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of stability analysis of linear neutral time delay systems. First, a new simple Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional is constructed based on delay partitioning approach, then, a novel improved delay‐dependent stability criterion is established to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the neutral system. The obtained stability criterion is expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which can be verified easily by means of standard software. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and the advantage over some existing results.

Abstract:This paper studies stochastic input-to-state stability and stochastic global stability for impulsive stochastic nonlinear systems. Using fixed dwell-time condition and Lyapunov-based approach, sufficient conditions are established for the stability properties. Two cases are studied: 1) the case that the continuous dynamics is stable and 2) the case that the impulsive effects are stable. Furthermore, the relations among different dwell-time conditions are studied. Finally, two examples are used to illustrate the developed theory.

Abstract:This paper investigates the global asymptotic stability of linear time-varying impulsive positive systems (IPSs). Several novel stability criteria of linear time-varying IPSs with different types of impulsive effects are proposed by constructing an indefinite time-varying copositive Lyapunov function. In particular, by using the maximum and average dwell time methods, we discuss the stability of the addressed system with destabilizing impulses and stabilizing impulses, respectively. Moreover, we consider a special case in which the continuous dynamic of the system is not asymptotically stable and the system may contain some destabilizing impulses, and give a slightly stricter stability criterion. Finally, two examples are given to validate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

The main result of this paper is that oscillation and stability of nonlinear impulsive neutral delay differential equation are equivalent to oscillation and stability of corresponding nonimpulsive neutral delay differential equations. At last, two examples are given to illustrate the importance of this study.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of the delay-dependent robust stability of neutral systems with mixed delays and time-varying structured uncertainties. By considering the cross-terms with additional design parameters, a complete form of Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is constructed. Then some free weighting matrices are introduced, and a sufficient stability condition is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The obtained criterion is dependent on the sizes of neutral delay and discrete delay and are less conservative than those produced by previous approaches. Numerical examples are given to illustrate both the improvement the proposed method provides over some existing ones and the relationship between the neutral- and discrete-delay.

Abstract:This paper presents criteria on robust stability of a class of neutral functional systems with uncertainties. Upper bounds of uncertain parameters, which guarantee the stability of the uncertain system, have been estimated using matrix norm or spectral radius. These criteria generalize some existing results on the stability analysis of neutral delay-differential systems. Numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.

Abstract:Many practical systems in physics, biology, engineering, and information science exhibit impulsive dynamical behaviors due to abrupt changes at certain instants during the dynamical processes. In this paper, stability analysis and stabilization synthesis problems are investigated for switched impulsive systems which consisting of a family of linear constant subsystems and a rule that orchestrates the switching between them. Furthermore, there exist impulses at the switching instants. A switched quadratic Lyapunov function is introduced to check asymptotic stability of such systems. Two equivalent necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such a Lyapunov function are established, respectively. The conditions are in linear matrix inequality form and can be used to solve stabilization synthesis problem. The results are extended to the uncertain systems case as well.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the impulsive effects on the stability of the zero solution of the linear neutral differential equations with variable delays. By transforming the equations into ones without impulses and using fixed point theory, some sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability and exponential stability of the zero solution are obtained. The paper extends and improves results on sufficient conditions obtained by Jin and Luo (2008) [17], and Ardjouni and Djoudi (2011) [18], which is shown clearly in Example 1. This paper also shows that the impulse intensity and the impulse time both influence the decay rate of the convergence to zero of the solutions. Finally, two examples are given to show applications of some results obtained.

Abstract:The issue of a novel finite-time stability and stabilization design for a class of nonlinear impulsive systems is discussed in this paper. In previous finite-time control designs for impulsive systems, the convergence rate of these control strategies is even less rapid than the exponential convergence rate when the initial state is distant from the origin. To overcome this problem, two sufficient conditions for the novel finite-time stability of impulsive systems are presented, in which the stabilizing impulses and the destabilizing impulses are considered, respectively. Meanwhile, the upper bound of the settling-time is evaluated. In addition, combining Lyapunov functions theory with impulsive control, we design a controller for impulsive dynamical systems to satisfy the novel finite-time stability. Finally, two simulation examples are given, in which the first example demonstrates the superiority of the proposed finite-time stability criterion for nonlinear impulsive systems by comparing it with traditional finite-time stability, and the second example verifies the effectiveness of the presented controller.

Abstract:SummaryThis paper presents a general framework for analyzing stability of linear impulsive stochastic systems (LISSs). Some simple mean square stability criteria for the three types of LISSs are firstly derived by analyzing an equivalent system. By exploring the hybrid characteristics of impulsive systems, the novel quasi‐periodic composite polynomial Lyapunov function and the time‐varying discretized Lyapunov function are developed, which leads to unified dwell‐time–based criteria for mean square stability and almost sure stability of LISSs without imposing the stability condition on continuous‐ and discrete‐time dynamics. Next, based on the established stability criteria, the synthesis problem of state‐feedback controller is solved. The computational complexity and the comparison with existing results on the deterministic systems are discussed. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed results.

Abstract:This paper studies the finite-time stability problem for a class of singular neutral systems by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach and regular neutral system theory. The considered systems involve not only the delayed version of the state, but also the delayed version of the derivative of the state. Some sufficient conditions are presented to ensure that the considered systems are regular, impulse-free, and finite-time stable. Three numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Dear Editor, This letter considers the finite-time stability (FTS) problem of generalized impulsive stochastic nonlinear systems (ISNS). By employing the stochastic Lyapunov and impulsive control approach, some novel criteria on FTS are presented, where both situations of stabilizing and destabilizing impulses are considered. Furthermore, new impulse-dependent estimation strategies of stochastic settling time (SST) are proposed. These estimation strategies establish quantitative relationships between the impulsive effects and the mathematical expectation of SST, which can directly assess the influence of impulses on the system performance. Finally, an example is given to validate the effectiveness of the presented results.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the stability for a class of switched uncertain neutral systems. The uncertainty is assumed to be of structured linear fractional from which includes the norm bounded uncertainty as a special case. Based on the property of completeness of systems, by using an improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a switching rule for the asymptotical stability of this systems is designed from the solution of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). A numerical example is given to illustrate effectiveness of the result.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 1783-1808, June 2024. This paper proposes criteria for establishing the asymptotic moment stability of semi-Markovian impulsive switched systems. Under some mild assumptions, we formulate an auxiliary linear time-delayed system based on the Lyapunov characterizations of the subsystems and impulses, as well as the properties of the underlying semi-Markovian impulsive switching signal. Our main result provides an upper bound on the moment, which is directly related to a solution of the aforementioned linear time-delayed system. Specifically, the semi-Markovian impulsive switched system is asymptotically moment stable if the auxiliary linear time-delayed system is asymptotically stable. In situations where the mode-dependent sojourn time distributions of the underlying impulsive switching signals are all exponential, uniform, or trigonometric, we deduce explicit formulae for the auxiliary linear time-delayed systems. To prove the main result, we compute the expected gain function, which requires formulating a generalized renewal equation. Finally, we test our stability criteria on a numerical example in different scenarios and show that our stability results are nonconservative compared to the statistically obtained average of state-norms and state-norm-squares.
