A simulation evaluation of the performance of grid information service

Abstract:Grid computing technologies made sharing and cooperating large-scale network resource possible. As an important part of grid platforms, the performance of information service had direct effect on the performance of grid platforms and the grid application. In consideration of the heterogeneity of grid platforms and its dynamic characteristic, it was difficult to evaluate the performance of information service directly. The characteristics of information service and its form were analyzed and valuation metrics, such as average response time in second, average throughput per second, CPU Load, resource usage and the number of successful request etc were presented. On the basis of the above analysis, a grid simulator-JFreeSim was designed and realized. By simulating grid environment and dynamic deployment of grid information service, the performance was evaluated.
