Abstract:Microtendipes globosus sp. nov. (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Xishan Island, China is described and illustrated from a male imago. The new species is characterized by a spherical median volsella with 9-10 long setae, the basal lobe of the superior volsella with 10-12 setae, tergite IX without median seta, and the absence of pigment marks on the wings. An identification key to the males belonging to the genus Microtendipes in China is provided.

Abstract:Synchroa medogensis, a new species of Synchroidae Lacordaire, 1859, is described and illustrated, based on a single male collected from Mêdog, Xizang, China. This new species is close to S. elongatula Nikitsky, 1999 and S. melanotoides Lewis, 1895, but could be distinguished by the elongated antennae and elytra, the apically narrowed prosternal process and the stout parameres.The new information of this new species provided in this paper include: description, type information, distribution and comparison amongst S. medogensis sp. nov., S. elongatula and S. melanotoides.

Abstract:Twenty-one (six known and 15 new) species of the genus Leucophenga from the Oriental region are described or redescribed: L. jacobsoni Duda, 1926; L. kurahashii Okada, 1987; L. setipalpis Duda, 1923; L. sorii Kang, Lee Bhang, 1965; L. spinifera Okada, 1987; L. varinervis Duda, 1923; L. acantha Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. alafumosa Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. brevipenis Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. brevitabulata Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. delta Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. forcipula Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. fuscipalpula Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. glabtabulata Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. helvipecta Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. hyaloptera Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. oxyptera Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. platypyga Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. serrateiceps Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. valvata Huang Chen, sp. nov.; L. zebrina Huang Chen, sp. nov. A key and a morphological summary table to all these Leucophenga species are provided. Phylogenetic relationships among these 21 Leucophenga species, another 14 congeneric, known species from seven groups, and two representative outgroup taxa are reconstructed using 169 DNA sequences of the partial mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (mtCOI) gene. In sum, 13 of the 21 Leucophenga species, which possess the only diagnostic character of the proxima species group (abdominal third tergite shortened, anteriorly discolored in males), are not monophyletic. Therefore, all the Leucophenga species described or redescribed in this study are temporarily classified as unplaced species (except for L. sorii, which has been assigned to the sorii species group) to avoid further confusion.

Abstract:Thirteen Chinese species of Doryctes Haliday, 1836 are recognized. Four new species, D. flavistigma sp. nov., D. hain-anensis sp. nov., D. mayunae sp. nov., and D. yunnanicus sp. nov., are described and illustrated. Abstract:Eighty-eight species of Senometopia Macquart, 1834 (Diptera, Tachinidae) from the eastern Palaearctic and Oriental regions are revised. Argyrothelaira Townsend, 1916 and Catacarcelia Townsend, 1927 are newly synonymized with Senometopia. Forty-two new species are described. The following 11 new combinations are proposed: S. aurata (Townsend, 1927) comb. nov., S. bakeri (Townsend, 1928) comb. nov., S. ceylanica (Townsend, 1919) comb. nov., S. cinerea (Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1891) comb. nov., S. dammermani (Baranov, 1934) comb. nov., S. froggattii (Townsend, 1916) comb. nov., S. indica (Baranov, 1934) comb. nov., S. muscoides (Walker, 1856) comb. nov., S. rufiventris (Malloch, 1935) comb. nov., S. singgalangia (Townsend, 1927) comb. nov., and S. sumatrana (Townsend, 1927) comb. nov. Abstract:The genus Morimospasma Ganglbauer, 1890 is reviewed. Two new species, M. jiangi sp. nov. and M. dalaolingensis sp. nov., are described and illustrated. M. paradoxum Ganglbauer is newly recorded from Anhui, China. Taxonomic status of M. nitidituberculatus Hua is discussed. The Chinese names of M. jiangi sp. nov. and M. dalaolingensis sp.nov. are designated, respectively, as Jiǎngshì Jùliútiānniú and Dàlǎolǐng Jùliútiānniú in Chinese phonetic alphabet. A key to all six species of Morimospasma is provided.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Mongolotettix Rehn, 1928 from China, i.e. Mongolotettix wulingyuanensis sp. nov. and Mongolotettix. shaanxiensis sp. nov. are described herein. M. wulingyuanensis sp. nov. is similar to M. angustiseptus Wan, Ren & Zhang, 1998, but differs from the latter by body larger, length of body ♂ 25.6 mm, ♀ 39.1mm; tegmina of male without a white stripe on the fore margin at base; subgenital plate of male conical, sides concave, apex acute; both outer sides of epiphallus without acute projection in the middle. M. shaanxiensis sp. nov. is similar to M. anomopterus (Caudell, 1921), but differs from the latter by tegmina of male longer, reaching the end of epiproct, without a white stripe on the fore margin at base, tegmina of female longer, reaching the middle of 2nd abdominal tergum, width of epiphallus larger than height, upper ovipositor valve slender, length 3.8 times its maximum width. A key to all nine known species of the genus from China is given. Type specimens are deposited in the Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining, 810001, China.

Abstract:The Syneches signatus species-group (Diptera: Empidoidea: Hybotidae) characterized with the flattened abdomen and modified hind leg is a small and unique group in Syneches. Here we report that this species group is newly found in Tibet with 2 species, Syneches bigoti Bezzi and S. nigrescens sp. nov. Syneches bigoti Bezzi is reported from the Chinese mainland for the first time. A key to the known species of this group from Asia is presented.

Abstract:This paper describes a new species Parasinophasma ledongense sp. nov. of the genus Parasinophasma Chen & He, 2006. The diagnostic characters of the new species are illustrated, and an identification key is provided for males and females of the genus. In addition, we show that Sipyloidea wuzhishanensis (Chen & He, 2002) is a junior synonym of Huananphasma amicum (Bey-Bienko, 1959).

Abstract:The species of Mesitiinae (Bethylidae) from China are revised and 20 species belonging to five genera are recognized. The following eleven new species are described: Heterocoelia curtisulcus sp. nov., H. unicolor sp. nov., H. varicolor sp. nov., H. remota sp. nov., Incertosulcus afoveatus sp. nov., I. exilisulcus sp. nov., Sulcomesitius angustifrons sp. nov., S. latibilobatus sp. nov., S. sparsulus sp. nov., Zimankos acutulus sp. nov. and Z. hamulosus sp. nov. Two new synonymies are proposed: Heterocoelia sinensis Xu & He, 2006 is synonymized with H. zhaoi Xu & He, 2006, and Sulcomesitius rectus Xu, He & Terayama, 2003 with Zimankos cambodianus (Móczár, 1976). Two species are transferred from Sulcomesitius to Heterocoelia, resulting in H. punctulata (Xu, He & Terayama, 2003) comb. nov. and H. neomoczari (Barbosa & Azevedo, 2018) comb. nov. Two species are transferred from Heterocoelia to Sulcomesitius, resulting in S. zhaoi (Xu & He, 2006) comb. nov. and S. breviculus (Xu & He, 2003) comb. nov.
