Abstract:A kind of symmetries, i.e. a weakly Noether symmetry for a Lagrange system is presented. The criterion of the weakly Noether symmetry of the system is given and a Noether conserved quantity can be deduced using the symmetry. The weakly Noether symmetry finds more applications than the Noether symmetry.

Abstract:The study of multi-time-delay dynamical systems has highlighted many challenges, especially regarding the solution and analysis of multi-time-delay equations. The symmetry and conserved quantity are two important and effective essential properties for understanding complex dynamical behavior. In this study, a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system is investigated. Firstly, the multi-time-delay Hamilton principle is proposed. Then, multi-time-delay non-conservative dynamical equations are deduced. Secondly, depending on the infinitesimal group transformations, the invariance of the multi-time-delay Hamilton action is studied, and Noether symmetry, Noether quasi-symmetry, and generalized Noether quasi-symmetry are discussed. Finally, Noether-type conserved quantities for a multi-time-delay Lagrangian system and a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system are obtained. Two examples in terms of a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system and a multi-time-delay Lagrangian system are given.

Abstract:In this paper, the unified symmetry of non-holonomic singular systems is studied. The differential equations of motion of the systems are given. The definition and the criterion of the unified symmetry for the systems are presented. The Noether conserved quantity the Hojman conserved quantity and the Mei conserved quantity are obtained. An example is given to illustrate the application of the results.

Abstract:The symmetries and perturbations of a singular nonconservative Lagrangian system on time scales are studied. The differential equations of motion are given. The definitions and criteria of the Noether, Lie, and Mei symmetries of the system are presented, and the corresponding conserved quantities deduced from these symmetries are obtained. In addition, the perturbations to each symmetry and the corresponding adiabatic invariants were studied. In the end, three examples are used to illustrate the applications of the results.

Abstract:In this paper, the driven generalized time-dependent harmonic oscillator (DGTHO) is studied by making use of the new concept of quantum basic invariants. The connection between the quantum basic invariants and classical Noether's theorem is discussed. The classical basic invariants as well as the general form of classical invariants for the system are found. From these, we get the five Noether invariants and the set of corresponding infinitesimal generators {G(k)}, hence, generalizing the work of G. Profilo and G. Soliani. Also, for the system, we calculate the current algebra which, as the central extension of the {G(k)} algebra, should be regarded as the dynamical symmetry algebra for the system and is therefore more important than the {G(k)} algebra. Finally, we demonstrate the existence of a kind of converse of Noether's theorem.

Abstract:This research aims to investigate the Noether symmetry and conserved quantity for the fractional Lagrange system with nonholonomic constraints, which are based on the Herglotz principle. Firstly, the fractional-order Herglotz principle is given, and the Herglotz-type fractional-order differential equations of motion for the fractional Lagrange system with nonholonomic constraints are derived. Secondly, by introducing infinitesimal generating functions of space and time, the Noether symmetry of the Herglotz type is defined, along with its criteria, and the conserved quantity of the Herglotz type is given. Finally, to demonstrate how to use this method, two examples are provided.

Abstract:Noether and Lie symmetry analyses based on point transformations that depend on time and spatial coordinates will be reviewed for a general class of time-dependent Hamiltonian systems. The resulting symmetries are expressed in the form of generators whose time-dependent coefficients follow as solutions of sets of ordinary differential (``auxiliary'') equations. The interrelation between the Noether and Lie sets of auxiliary equations will be elucidated. The auxiliary equations of the Noether approach will be shown to admit invariants for a much broader class of potentials, compared to earlier studies. As an example, we work out the Noether and Lie symmetries for the time-dependent Kepler system. The Runge-Lenz vector of the time-independent Kepler system will be shown to emerge as a Noether invariant if we adequately interpret the pertaining auxiliary equation. Furthermore, additional nonlocal invariants and symmetries of the Kepler system will be isolated by identifying further solutions of the auxiliary equations that depend on the explicitly known solution path of the equations of motion. Showing that the invariants remain unchanged under the action of different symmetry operators, we demonstrate that a unique correlation between a symmetry transformation and an invariant does not exist.

Abstract:Based on Kirchhoff's analogue, generalized Hamilton canonical equations for the dynamics of super-thin elastic rod are analyzed. The Mei symmetry transformations and the theorem are introduced. And the condition and theorem of Noether conserved quantity are deduced directly by Mei symmetry for the super-thin elastic rod system. An example is given to illustrate the application of the result.

Abstract:A certain non-Noetherian connection between symmetry and integrability properties of nonlinear field equations in conservation-law form is studied. It is shown that the symmetry condition alone may lead, in a rather straightforward way, to the construction of a Lax pair, a doubly infinite set of (generally nonlocal) conservation laws, and a recursion operator for symmetries. Applications include the chiral field equation and the self-dual Yang-Mills equation.

Abstract:Conservation laws are formulated for systems of differential equations by using symmetries and adjoint symmetries, and an application to systems of evolution equations is made, together with illustrative examples. The formulation does not require the existence of a Lagrangian for a given system, and the presented examples include computations of conserved densities for the heat equation, Burgers' equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation.

Abstract:Based on the total time derivative along the trajectory of the time, we study the unified symmetry of Vacco dynamical systems. The definition and the criterion of the unified symmetry are given. Three kinds of conserved quatities, i.e. the Noether conserved quantity, the generalized Hojman conserved quantity and the Mei conserved quantity, are deduced from the unified symmetry. An example is presented to illustrate the results.

Abstract:We explore the realization of BRST symmetry in the non-Lorentzian Yang-Mills Lagrangian within the context of Galilean and Carrollian Yang-Mills theory. Firstly we demonstrate the nilpotent property of classical BRST transformations and construct corresponding conserve charges for both cases. Then we analyze the algebra of these charges and observe the nilpotent properties at the algebraic level. The findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of BRST symmetry in non-Lorentzian Yang-Mills Lagrangians and provide insights into the algebraic properties of related conserve charges.

Symmetries in the Hamiltonian formulation of string theory

Abstract:In the context of the Hamiltonian formulation of string theory, a widely acknowledged issue is the inability of the first-class constraints to accurately reproduce the Lagrangian symmetry transformations. We take a critical look at the Hamiltonian formulation of the Polyakov string and demonstrate, using Castellani's procedure, that diffeomorphism and Weyl symmetries naturally emerge without using any field-dependent reparametrization, thus preserving the theoretical consistency between Hamiltonian and Lagrangian descriptions. Additionally, we will review the standard Hamiltonian analysis of the symmetries in terms of lapse and shift functions and show that the reason behind this failure is not due to the non-canonicity of the variables but rather because this parametrization fails to preserve general covariance.

Abstract:For an autonomous system the symmetries of the Lagrangian are embedded in the symmetries of the differential equation. Recently, it has been found that the modified Emden-type equations follow from non-standard Lagrangian functions which involve neither the kinetic energy term nor the potential function. By working with one such Lagrangian we have calculated the Lagrangian symmetries and explicitly demonstrated that, as in the case of standard Lagrangian functions, the variational symmetries of the non-standard Lagrangian are also included in the Lie symmetries of the differential equation.

Abstract:Conservation laws for systems of exponential, power-law and logarithmic non-standard Birkhoffian with fractional derivatives are investigated respectively, and their relationships with Noether symmetries are revealed. Corresponding to the three forms of non-standard Birkhoffians, the Pfaff–Birkhoff principles are proposed and non-standard Birkhoff's equations with fractional derivatives are derived. The variation of Pfaff action is investigated in depth, and the formulas of total variation are deduced, and on this basis the criterion equations of Noether symmetry are set up. Then, Noether's theorems for systems of non-standard Birkhoffian with fractional derivatives are proved, which reveals the relationship between symmetry and conserved quantity. Finally, three examples are given to illustrate how to calculate the symmetry and find out the conserved quantity, and the correctness of the obtained conserved quantities is shown by numerical calculation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Noether type symmetry theorem to fractional Birkhoffian systems with Riemann–Liouville derivatives. This theorem provides an explicit algorithmic way to compute a constant for any Birkhoffian systems admitting a symmetry. Abstract:We sketch the main features of the Noether Symmetry Approach, a method to reduce and solve dynamics of physical systems by selecting Noether symmetries, which correspond to conserved quantities. Specifically, we take into account the vanishing Lie derivative condition for general canonical Lagrangians to select symmetries. Furthermore, we extend the prescription to the first prolongation of the Noether vector. It is possible to show that the latter application provides a general constraint on the infinitesimal generator $\xi$, related to the spacetime translations. This approach can be used for several applications. In the second part of the work, we consider a gravity theory including the coupling between a scalar field $\phi$ and the Gauss-Bonnet topological term $\mathcal{G}$. In particular, we study a gravitational action containing the function $F(\mathcal{G}, \phi)$ and select viable models by the existence of symmetries. Finally, we evaluate the selected models in a spatially-flat cosmological background and use symmetries to find exact solutions.

Generalization of nonlocally related partial differential equation systems: unknown symmetric properties and analytical solutions

Abstract:Symmetry, which describes invariance, is an eternal concern in mathematics and physics, especially in the investigation of solutions to the partial differential equation (PDE). A PDE's nonlocally related PDE systems provide excellent approaches to search for various symmetries that expand the range of its known solutions. They composed of potential systems based on conservation laws and inverse potential systems (IPS) based on differential invariants. Our study is devoted to generalizing their construction and application in three-dimensional circumstances. Concretely, the potential of the algebraic gauge-constrained potential system is simplified without weakening its solution space. The potential system is extended via nonlocal conservation laws and double reductions. Afterwards, nonlocal symmetries are identified in the IPS.\@ The IPS is extended by the solvable Lie algebra and type \Rmnum{2} hidden symmetries. Besides, systems among equations can be connected via Cole-Hopf transformation.\@ Ultimately, established and extended systems embody rich symmetric properties and unprecedented analytical solutions, and may even further facilitate general coordinate-independent analysis in qualitative, numerical, perturbation, etc., this can be illustrated by several Burgers-type equations.
