Abstract:The title compound, [Ag-4(C8H4O4)(2){H2N(CH2)(6)}(3)].2H(2)O, is an Ag-I tetranuclear complex. Four Agt atoms, three hexamethylenediamine molecules, and two terephthalate dianions constitute a chain-like tetranuclear silver(I) complex. The complex lies on a center of symmetry, located at the mid-point of the central C-C bond. The two different kinds of Ag-I atoms are both in a linear environment. One kind of Ag atom is coordinated by two N atoms from different amine ligands, and the other is coordinated by an O atom from a carboxylate group and by a N atom from an amine ligand. Adjacent complexes are joined together by weak Ag...Ag interactions to form ladder-like ribbons, which are further linked by hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional structure.
