Abstract:We establish the path integral formalism for nondegenerate parametric amplifiers in the entangled state representations. Its advantage in obtaining the energy level gap of this system is analyzed.

Abstract:As a non-adiabatic generalisation of a recent work of Gerry, the manifestation of the Aharonov-Anandan phase in the degenerate parametric-amplifier of quantum optics is discussed by making use of the Lewis-Riesenfeld quantum theory. We find the Lewis invariant for the system and study its evolution. The Aharonov-Anandan phase is then calculated and the connection between the Aharonov-Anandan phase difference and the average photon-number of the output field is obtained. Finally, the observable effect of the phase difference is investigated.

Abstract:We present a new approach for studying theoretical model of a parametric amplifier. We show that time-evolution of parametric amplifier can be treated as formalism of angular momentum system by using the newly found bosonic operator realization of three generators ( J + , J − , J z ). The entangled state representation is essential in this approach. The transition probability from vacuum state to two-mode squeezed state in a parametric amplifier can be directly evaluated.

Abstract:Parametric amplifiers are an integral part of measurements involving the conversion of propagating quantum information to mechanical motion. General time-dependent PT-symmetric parametric oscillators for unbroken parity and time reversal (PT) symmetry regimes are studied theoretically. By constructing an explicit metric operator, we have transformed the non-Hermitian PT-symmetric system to an equivalent Hermitian Hamiltonian, which enables us to utilize the available mechanism of $\mathbb{L}^2$ space. The time-dependent (TD) Schrödinger equation for the system is solved with the Lewis-Riesenfeld (LR) phase space method. The eigenstates of the LR-invariant operator ($\hat{\mathcal{I}}$) is obtained after transforming $\hat{\mathcal{I}}$ to its diagonal symplectic equivalent form (group $Sp(2, \mathbb{R})$). Both the dynamical and geometrical phase factors associated with the eigenstates of $\hat{\mathcal{I}}$ are explicitly written. The experimental pheasibility of our result is outlined through the construction of Wigner quasiprobability distribution. Moreover, we have demostrated the time variation of the Wigner distribution for the system consisting of two spatially separated prepared ground state of the TD-parametric amplifier. With graphical illustration of time variation of Wigner distributions, we show that the phase-space entanglement remains intact even for time-dependent situation, no matter how far the particles goes, at least for the cat-state under consideration. The exact expressions for the physically relevant qualities are obtained and illustrated for a toy model.

Using the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators, we prove that they span the complete space. Abstract:We derive analytic solutions for Heisenberg evolution under the trilinear parametric Hamiltonian which are correct to second order in the interaction strength but are valid for all pump amplitudes. The solutions allow pump depletion effects to be incorporated in the description of parametric amplification in experimentally relevant scenarios and the resulting new phenomena to be rigorously described.

Abstract:We study the operational regime of a noiseless linear amplifier based on quantum scissors that can nondeterministically amplify the one photon component of a quantum state with weak excitation. It has been shown that an arbitrarily large quantum state can be amplified by first splitting it into weak excitation states using a network of beamsplitters. The output states of the network can then be coherently recombined. In this paper, we analyse the performance of such a device for distilling entanglement after transmission through a lossy quantum channel, and look at two measures to determine the efficacy of the noiseless linear amplifier. The measures used are the amount of entanglement achievable and the final purity of the output amplified entangled state. We study the performances of both a single and a two-element noiseless linear amplifier for amplifying weakly excited states. Practically, we show that it may be advantageous to work with a limited number of stages.

Abstract:A scheme to realize the accelerated and robust generation of W state in a cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system by combining parametric amplification (PA) with inverse Hamiltonian engineering (IHE) is proposed. The atom-cavity coupling strength can be exponentially enhanced via parametrically squeezing the cavity mode, which facilitates the generation of W state. Moreover, the evolution of the system can be optimized with suppressing the populations of the intermediate states. Numerical simulations show that the scheme is fast and high-fidelity, immune to systematic parameter deviations, robust against spontaneous emission of atoms, and decay of cavities. Therefore, this scheme may provide some useful applications in entanglement generation.

Abstract:The time-dependent, linearly driven Fokker-Planck equation for the degenerate parametric amplifier is derived when the pump depletion is present both above and below threshold. A model that the driving force epsilon alpha(1) is a product of the classical quantity epsilon and quantum operator a, is proposed. It is found that below or near threshold, our results conform to the linear theory or perturbation series expansion, and above threshold, the short-time behavior of our solution is close to the linearization approximation; with the increase of interaction time tau, the long-time behavior of our solution shows that the squeezing is always quite different from the linear theory. It is shown that the maximal squeezing can be obtained at large pump parameter mu=epsilon/k and interaction time Delta tau. (c) 2006 Optical Society of America.

Abstract:Continuous variable entangled radiation, known as Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) states, are spatially separated quantum states with applications ranging from quantum teleportation and communication to quantum sensing. The ability to efficiently generate and harness EPR states is vital for advancements of quantum technologies, particularly in the microwave domain. Here, we introduce a kinetic inductance quantum-limited amplifier that generates stationary path-entangled microwave radiation. Unlike traditional Josephson junction circuits, our design offers simplified fabrication and operational advantages. By generating single-mode squeezed states and distributing them to different ports of a microwave resonator, we deterministically create distributed entangled states at the output of the resonator. In addition to the experimental verification of entanglement, we present a simple theoretical model using a beam-splitter picture to describe the generation of path-entangled states in kinetic inductance superconducting circuits. This work highlights the potential of kinetic inductance parametric amplifiers, as a promising technology, for practical applications such as quantum teleportation, distributed quantum computing, and enhanced quantum sensing. Moreover, it can contribute to foundational tests of quantum mechanics and advances in next-generation quantum information technologies.

Abstract:By virtue of the entangled state representation \xi>>, we solve the dynamics of a generalized parametric amplifier whose Hamiltonian is composed of two forced quantum oscillators plus a parametric down-conversion interaction in the resonant case. The solutions and state vectors of the Schrodinger equation are derived, of which the simplest solution is a squeezed coherent state. The method of characteristics is employed.

Abstract:In this paper, we employ the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators (IWOP) to derive a generalized two-mode thermal vacuum state (GTTVS) for the Hamiltonian of a parametric amplifier. Application of GTTVS in calculating the ensemble average is discussed. The result is in agreement with that obtained by using the generalized Hellmann–Feynmann theorem.

Abstract:Parametric amplifiers have allowed breakthroughs in ultrafast, strong-field, and high-energy density laser science and are an essential tool for extending the frequency range of powerful emerging diode-pumped solid-state laser technology. However, their impact is limited by inherently low quantum efficiency due to nonuniform light extraction. Here we demonstrate a new type of parametric amplifier based on hybridized nonlinear optics. Hybridization of parametric amplification with idler second harmonic generation induces unusual evolution dynamics for a fully parametric amplifier - with saturating rather than cyclic gain - observed here for the first time. This allows highly uniform light extraction enabling unprecedented efficiency for a lossless amplifier with Gaussian-like intensity profiles - a 48-dB single-stage gain with 68% quantum efficiency and 44% pump-to-signal energy conversion - a several-fold improvement over the standard. Possessing both laser-like high quantum efficiency and the advantages of thermal-loading free parametric systems, this simple approach can be implemented widely and have significant impact by increasing several-fold the power available for science and industry.

Abstract:For the first time, we experimentally investigate the parametrically amplified nonreciprocity of the transmission of the probe field, the reflection of the suppressed four-wave mixing (FWM), the enhanced six-wave mixing (SWM) and the radiation trap nonreciprocity of the fluorescence signals in a five level atomic system. The transition from the dressed suppressed dip to the enhanced peak is due to the nonreciprocity induced by parametrical amplification which is observed in FWM (SWM) signals noticeably. The SWM signal exhibits more obvious nonreciprocity than the FWM signal because the former suffers significant dressing enhancement. Moreover, the frequency offset of the signals on the two arm ramps of one round trip results from the optical bistability (nonreciprocity) which can be controlled by the frequency detunings, powers and angles of the dressing fields. Such a scheme could have potential applications in amplification processing of transistors and quantum information processing.

Abstract:We develop Dirac's representation theory in quantum mechanics by constructing the nonlinear entangled state |η〉nl and its non-Hermite conjugate state nl《η| with continuum variable. By virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators we show that |η〉nl and nl《η| make up an orthonormal and complete representation. From |η〉nl we also deduce another kind of entangled states. Application of |η〉nl in studying two-mode squeezed state is demonstrated.

Abstract:This paper presents formulae for Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement generated from $N$ nondegenerate optical parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) interconnected in a linear coherent feedback (CFB) chain in the idealized lossless scenario and infinite bandwidth limit. The lossless scenario sets the ultimate EPR entanglement (two-mode squeezing) that can be achieved by this linear chain of NOPAs while the infinite bandwidth limit simplifies the analysis but gives an accurate approximation to the EPR entanglement at low frequencies of interest. Two adjustable phase shifts are placed at the outputs of the system to achieve the best EPR entanglement by selecting appropriate quadratures of the output fields.
