Abstract:We have extended Balasubramaniam's formula [ Phys. Rev. C 70 017301 (2004) ] by considering the effect of isospin and reduced mass on the cluster radioactivity for calculating the cluster decay half-lives corresponding to nearly symmetric, asymmetric, very asymmetric, and super asymmetric fission of heavy and superheavy elements. The original formula is proposed to study the cluster radioactivity of heavy elements and cannot be applied in superheavy regions without modification. The new parameters are extracted by fitting the calculated values against the experimental values in heavy regions. In the superheavy region, the parameters are extracted by fitting against the predictions of Santhosh et al. based on the Coulomb and Proximity Potential Model (CPPM) [ Int. J. Mod. Phys. E 23 10 1,450,059 (2014), Phys. Rev. C 97 064616 (2018) ], Generalized Liquid Drop Model (GLDM) [ Phys. Rev. C 99 064604 (2019) ], and the Modified Generalized Liquid Drop Model (MGLDM) [ Phys. Rev. C, 103(6), 064612 (2021) ]. The proposed modified Geiger-Nuttall law is capable of reproducing the predictions of other theoretical models with great accuracy for different types of fission processes of superheavy elements. The decay half-lives calculated using the modified formula are compared with the predictions of the Universal Decay Law (UDL) [ Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 072501 (2009) ], the most successful empirical formula.
