Abstract:The Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is discussed in this paper, and an improved optimal wavelet threshold algorithm is presented based on AFSA in signal denoising processing. Simulations show that our method has better performance than the conventional wavelet-based denoising threshold method.

Abstract:A model of ultrasonic flaw echo detection was built to depress the high scattering microstructure noise in the ultrasonic signal from aluminum alloy forge.A new wavelet thresholding function based Stein unbiased risk estimation method was set up to perform the adaptive denoising procedure.The discrete wavelet coefficients of different scale were calculated by using the new thresholding function,then a thresholds iterative process based on the minimum mean square error was implemented.The new estimated signal was rebuilt though wavelet inverse transform by using the calculated wavelet coefficients.The iterative process would be continued until the terminated condition was accessed.The processing results of the ultrasonic signals with flaw from aluminum alloy forge indicates that compared to the other denoising methods based on the standard hard thresholding and soft thresholding functions,the adaptive denoising method has better denoising performance on the microstructure noise and can enhance the flaw echo signal.

Abstract:Genetic algorithm (GA) based on wavelet transform threshold shrinkage (WTS) and translation-invariant threshold shrinkage (TIS) is introduced into the method of noise reduction, where parameters used in WTS and TIS, such as wavelet function, decomposition levels, hard or soft threshold and threshold can be selected automatically. This paper ends by comparing two noise reduction methods on the basis of their denoising performances, computation time, etc. The effectiveness of these methods introduced in this paper is validated by the results of analysis of the simulated and real signals.

Abstract:Based on traditional artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA), an improved artificial fish swarm algorithm (IAFSA) is proposed and used to solve the problem of optimal operation of cascade reservoirs. To improve the ability of searching the global and the local extremum, the vision and the step of artificial fish are adjusted dynamicly in IAFSA. Moreover, to increase the convergence speed, the threshold selection strategy is employed to decrease the individual large space gap between before and after update operation in the local update operation. The validity of IAFSA is proved by case study and the threshold parameters of IAFSA are rated.

Abstract:Image pattern recognition is an important area in digital image processing. An efficient pattern recognition algorithm should be able to provide correct recognition at a reduced computational time. Off late amongst the machine learning pattern recognition algorithms, Artificial fish swarm algorithm is one of the swarm intelligence optimization algorithms that works based on population and stochastic search. In order to achieve acceptable result, there are many parameters needs to be adjusted in AFSA. Among these parameters, visual and step are very significant in view of the fact that artificial fish basically move based on these parameters. In standard AFSA, these two parameters remain constant until the algorithm termination. Large values of these parameters increase the capability of algorithm in global search, while small values improve the local search ability of the algorithm. In this paper, we empirically study the performance of the AFSA and different approaches to balance between local and global exploration have been tested based on the adaptive modification of visual and step during algorithm execution. The proposed approaches have been evaluated based on the four well-known benchmark functions. Experimental results show considerable positive impact on the performance of AFSA. A Convex optimization has been integrated into the proposed work to have an ideal segmentation of the input image which is a MR brain image.

Abstract:The optimal multiuser detection for communication systems can be characterized as an NP-hard optimization problem. In this paper, as a new heuristic intelligent optimization algorithm, Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is employed for the detection problem, the results show that it has better performances such as good global convergence, strong robustness, insensitive to initial values, simplicity of implementation and faster convergent speed with random initial values compared with genetic algorithm (GA). With the increase of fish or iteration number, the AFSA has only the linear increment of complexity and maintain a superior performance; its improved methods are also proposed and analysed in the end.

Abstract:Gaussian/non-Gaussian impulsive noises in underwater acoustic (UWA) channel seriously impact the quality of underwater acoustic communication. The common denoising algorithms are based on Gaussian noise model and are difficult to apply to the coexistence of Gaussian/non-Gaussian impulsive noises. Therefore, a new UWA noise model is described in this paper by combining the symmetric $alpha$-stable (S$alpha$S) distribution and normal distribution. Furthermore, a novel underwater acoustic signal denoising algorithm called AWMF+GDES is proposed. First, the non-Gaussian impulsive noise is adaptively suppressed by the adaptive window median filter (AWMF). Second, an enhanced wavelet threshold optimization algorithm with a new threshold function is proposed to suppress the Gaussian noise. The optimal threshold parameters are obtained based on good point set and dynamic elite group guidance combined simulated annealing selection artificial bee colony (GDES-ABC) algorithm. The numerical simulations demonstrate that the convergence speed and the convergence precision of the proposed GDES-ABC algorithm can be increased by 25%$sim$66% and 21%$sim$73%, respectively, compared with the existing algorithms. Finally, the experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed underwater acoustic signal denoising algorithm and demonstrate that both the proposed wavelet threshold optimization method based on GDES-ABC and the AWMF+GDES algorithm can obtain higher output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), noise suppression ratio (NSR), and smaller root mean square error (RMSE) compared with the other algorithms.

Abstract:The intelligence and automation of image processing and analysis has been one focus of image processing,also a key issue which need to be solved.As the usual intelligent optimization algorithm is relatively unitary and non-perfect effect,so the local search is imprecise and early to convergence.Consider a mix of artificial fish-swarm and particle swarm optimization to find the enhancement parameters that can avoid above defects.The experiments show that the algorithm has a higher self-adaptive,that is to avoid getting into local minimum,the convergence is speed up,and enhance the quality assessment is improved significantly.

Abstract:In order to decrease negative effects brought by the particularity and complexity of imaging environment, and satisfy the real-time need of the underwater task, combined invariant moments are extracted as recognition features. Furthermore, an underwater target recognition system based on neural network which improved by Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is proposed. AFSA is of capable of attaining global optimum which can speed up converging velocity of pure BP neural network, and avoid tending to get into its local optimum. In our experiments, different kinds of targets images are used to test in the proposed recognition system, so as to some other optimized algorithm trained recognition system. Experimental results show that the proposed system is of well clustering and high classified accuracy.

Abstract:The artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA) is a heuristic global optimization technique based on population which is easy to understand, good robustness, and not insensitive to initial values. The behavior of fishes has a great impact on the performance of the algorithm, such as global search and convergence speed. At present, there has no general research theory to select behaviors of fishes. In order to deal with this problem, we proposed an improved artificial fish swarm algorithm based on hybrid behavior selection. There are two mainly works in this paper. Firstly, we propose an improved algorithm based on swallowed behavior, which can greatly speed up the convergence. Secondly, in order to deal with the problems of easy to fall into local optimum value, we added breeding behavior to improve global optimization capability. The experiments on high dimensional function optimization showed that the improved algorithm has more powerful global exploration ability and faster convergence speed.

Abstract:The Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is inspired by the ecological behaviors of fish schooling in nature, viz., the preying, swarming and following behaviors. Owing to a number of salient properties, which include flexibility, fast convergence, and insensitivity to the initial parameter settings, the family of AFSA has emerged as an effective Swarm Intelligence (SI) methodology that has been widely applied to solve real-world optimization problems. Since its introduction in 2002, many improved and hybrid AFSA models have been developed to tackle continuous, binary, and combinatorial optimization problems. This paper aims to present a concise review of the continuous AFSA, encompassing the original ASFA, its improvements and hybrid models, as well as their associated applications. We focus on articles published in high-quality journals since 2013. Our review provides insights into AFSA parameters modifications, procedures and sub-functions. The main reasons for these enhancements and the comparison results with other hybrid methods are discussed. In addition, hybrid, multi-objective and dynamic AFSA models that have been proposed to solve continuous optimization problems are elucidated. We also analyse possible AFSA enhancements and highlight future research directions for advancing AFSA-based models.

Abstract:A new de-noising algorithm combining improved thresholding and patternsearch (PS) algorithm was put forward. The improved thresholding method based on Donoho's method. The traditional wavelet thresholding method includes two kinds: hard-thresholding and soft-thresholding. The hard-thresholding methods may lead to oscillation of the reconstructed signal, and the soft-thresholding methods may cause constant deviations between the estimated wavelet and original wavelet coefficients. The improved threshhoding method can overcome these defects, which was better in keeping trade-off between smoothness and remaining edge of the original signal. A coefficient beta, which is flexible was set up in the improved thresholding method, how to Find the appropriate beta is important for the improved thresholding de-noising furthermore, the improved thresholding methods were combined with sonic parameters such as wavelet function, decomposition scales etc., the effectiveness of signal de-noising is quite different. Now, most of researchers are usually selected semi-empirically or empirically these parameters, which cannot ensure that the de-noising performance is optimal in sonic sense. In order to solve these problems, the patternsearch function of Matlab can be adopted to guide the selection of these parameters. The effectiveness of the new method is validated by the results of the simulated experiment.
Adaptive Wavelet De-Noising Based on Fdr Step-Up-Down Procedure

Abstract:The threshold de-noising method based on the wavelet transform is an effective approach to reduce the white noise of the digit signal. Considering the different characters of signal and white noise in the wavelet domain, a novel algorithm to determine the adaptive wavelet threshold is proposed with the use of False Discovery Rate (FDR) step-up-down procedure. Since the wavelet de-noising transform process can be regarded as a multiple hypothesis process and both the step-up and step-down procedures can control the FDR independently, the new method FDR step-up-down procedure combining the above-mentioned procedures determines the wavelet threshold. An attractive advantage of this method is it can obtain the desired result by adjusting the FDR level flexibly. Numerical results show that this procedure works as effective as Hearsure procedure and gives better Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) gains and Mean Square Error (MSE) performance than both the traditional BH FDR and Sqtwolog procedure. In addition, this proposed algorithm has a substantially better power and higher resolution speed.

Abstract:In order to denoise while preserve image details better leading to a satisfactory result, so that it can be analyzed and applied subsequently, in view of advantages of well time-frequency characteristic, multi-resolution and decorrelation of stationary wavelet transform, this paper proposed a new algorithm of image denoising based on multi-scale and adaptive thresholding. In this algorithm: Firstly, use stationary wavelet to transform image. Then determine adaptive threshold of every decomposition progression according to the ratio of noise variance and wavelet coefficient variance. Secondly, process the wavelet coefficient matrice with threshold neighborhood sliding window and adaptively optimization wavelet coefficient processing window. Lastly, obtain resumed image through inverse transform. The experimental results show that, the algorithm can not only obtain clearer image edges but also denoise effectively compared to existing methods.

Abstract:Wavelet thresholding Denoising is one of main methods to eliminate noises. Via selecting proper threshold value and utilizing nonlinear methods with threshold functions to process wavelet coefficients, the optimum de-noising effect could be obtained in the sense of mean square deviation. Exponential-threshold function is widely used in wavelet thersholding denosing. However, how to select exponents is still an open problem. In this paper, the PSO technique is introduced to select the exponents of the prevalent exponential-threshold function with SNR as index function. Simulation results indicate that adopting the exponential-threshold function which is processed by optimization algorithms, better filtering effect could be acquired than the classical soft-, hard- and threshold methods.

Abstract:Wavelet denoising based on energy threshold function was investigated to provide an effective solution for the underwater acoustic multi-path signals.Denoising was first applied to preprocess the received signals.On the base of wavelet's ability to distinguish between signal mutation and noise,this paper gave wavelet thresholding and reconstructing technique and the performance of this method was analyzed rigorously.Combined with MATLAB simulation and reservoir acoustic transmit parameters,it was proved that the method can effectively restore wavelet coefficients,reduce the losses of useful information and increase SNR value,which demonstrated validity as well as advantage in underwater acoustic communication.

Abstract:Underwater acoustic signal (UAS) denoising is base and prerequisite for UAS detection, recognition and classification. In order to perform UAS denoising effectively, a new UAS denoising method based on modified uniform phase empirical mode decomposition (MUPEMD), hierarchical amplitude-aware permutation entropy (HAAPE), and improved wavelet threshold denoising (IWTD) method optimized by sand cat swarm optimization (SCSO) (SIWTD), named MUPEMD-HAAPE-SIWTD, is proposed. Firstly, decompose original signal into a battery of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) by MUPEMD. Secondly, determine the double threshold by HAAPE to classify signal into pure signal, mixed signal and noisy signal . Then, optimize IWTD by SCSO, so that it can adaptively select the optimal wavelet basis function to achieve the denoising of mixed signal. Finally, the denoised mixed signal is reconstructed with pure signal to obtain ultima denoised signal. The denoising experiments on Lorenz signal and Duffing signal demonstrate that signal-to-noise ratio can be improved by 9 dB–13 dB by the proposed method. The denoising experiments on simulating ship radiated noise signals and four kinds of actual ship radiated noise signals ( https://www.aigei.com/ , accessed on June 1, 2023) demonstrate that the proposed method makes phase diagram smoother and clearer, and makes the ability of suppressing noise higher.

Abstract:Based on wavelet threshold de-noising method which put forward by Donoho, we analyze and compare the advantages and disadvantages of hard threshold, soft threshold and some improved threshold methods. Based on polynomial interpolation method, a new threshold function is proposed, which is continuous in the whole threshold area, with little constant deviation between the estimated wavelet coefficients and original signal wavelet coefficient, and high-order derivative and easy processing. The simulation results show that this method can give better optical effect, SNR gains and MSE performance.

Abstract:This paper presents image de-noising in wavelet domain utilizing optimization algorithm combined with thresholding function. In this study, we utilized the nature inspired metaheuristic optimizer in order to obtain the optimal solutions for the parameters of thresholding function. Despite the TNN based noise reduction, while applying optimization algorithm there is no need to use LMS learning algorithm to find the optimal threshold value. Applying Harris Hawk Optimization (HHO) algorithm which includes threshold function leads to find the optimized thresholded wavelet coefficients. In this research, smooth sigmoid based shrinkage (SSBS) has been utilized to be combined with the HHO algorithm as the proposed method. Then, applying inverse discrete wavelet transform on the optimized wavelet coefficients provides us with the output de-noised image. The results have shown the efficiency of the proposed technique over other alternative methods in the literature.
