Abstract:Shrimps Penaeus vannamei were separated into three groups and one was fed with the controlled diet (group A), one was fed with the diet with 0.1% peptidoglycan preparation (group B), and another was fed with the diet with 1% peptidoglycan preparation (group C). The hemolymph of shrimps of every group was sampled after 4 weeks to detect the activity of phenoloxidase (PO), acid phosphatase (ACP) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). At the meantime, 40 shrimps of every group were challenged by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), through oral route. And the hemolymph of shrimps which were survived still was sampled to detect the activity of PO, ACP and ALP, after the challenge test has finished. The activity of PO and ACP of shrimp hemolymph of group A, B and C didn't have obvious difference (p > 0.05) after 4 weeks. The activity of ALP of shrimp hemolymph of group B was higher than that of group C and group A, and that of group C was higher than group A (p < 0.05). After challenge test finished, the activity of PO, ACP and ALP of survived shrimp hemolymph of every group didn't have obvious difference (p > 0.05). After oral administration of peptidoglycan preparation, the anti-infectivity to WSSV of shrimp Penaeus vannamei was enhanced remarkably. Among them, group C was the highest one, whose mortality rate was 10%, after challenge test finished. And χ2 tests showed significant differences in mortality rate (p < 0.05) between group C and group B and A. These results indicated that administration of peptidoglycan preparation to diet can increase the viral disease resistance of shrimp Penaeus vannamei, for the novel means of preventing viral infection and disease and increasing product benefit.
