Abstract:In this paper N-acetylated chitosan films were prepared by the reaction of chitosan and acetic anhydride in the medium CH 3OH and acetic acid. The hydrophlicity, hygroscopicity, crystallinity, transparency, permeability of the films were measured respectively, and the adsorption of serum proteins and the biocompatibility between the films and the rabbit corneal epithelial cell were studied. The results showed that the N-acetylated chitosan films had hydrophlicity to some extent, hygroscopicity and crystallinity to some extent, and had good transparency and premeability, as well as the ability to absorb the serum proteins. The results of culturing rabbit corneal epithelial cell on the films indicated that the films were well compatible with rabbit corneal epithelial cell.
