Abstract:An alternative concept of the basic invariants is introduced. The Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant theory is extended to obtain a generalized invariant formulation. The formulation is then used to establish four facts: (i) Any invariant for a quantum system can be constructed in terms of the basic invariants. (ii) It is possible to introduce a solution-generating technique by making use of the basic invariants. (iii) The path integral in the generalized invariant formulation reduces to an ordinary integral. (iv) The study of noncyclic evolution of a quantum system reduces explicitly to the study of the cyclic evolution. Finally, phase factors and general solution for the driven generalized time-dependent harmonic oscillator are studied as an illustrative example.

Abstract:In this paper the solution of the Fokker Planck (FPK) equation in terms of (complex) fractional moments is presented. It is shown that by using concepts coming from fractional calculus, complex Mellin transform and related ones, the solution of the FPK equation in terms of a finite number of complex moments may be easily found. It is shown that the probability density function (PDF) solution of the FPK equation is restored in the whole domain, including the trend at infinity with the exception of the value of the PDF in zero.

Abstract:A new way of constructing the steady state solutions of the Fokker-Planck Equations(FPE's) is described in which the concept of a vortex field plays an important role. The steady state solutions can be classified according to the type of . In particular, one easily obtains almost all the exact global solutions known so far for the stationary FPE's, as well as the exact local solutions near the fixed points of the corresponding deterministic equations. In this way some new properties of FPE are explored.

Abstract:We carry out the extended symmetry analysis of an ultraparabolic Fokker-Planck equation with three independent variables, which is also called the Kolmogorov equation and is singled out within the class of such Fokker-Planck equations by its remarkable symmetry properties. In particular, its essential Lie invariance algebra is eight-dimensional, which is the maximum dimension within the above class. We compute the complete point symmetry pseudogroup of the Fokker-Planck equation using the direct method, analyze its structure and single out its essential subgroup. After listing inequivalent one- and two-dimensional subalgebras of the essential and maximal Lie invariance algebras of this equation, we exhaustively classify its Lie reductions, carry out its peculiar generalized reductions and relate the latter reductions to generating solutions with iterative action of Lie-symmetry operators. As a result, we construct wide families of exact solutions of the Fokker-Planck equation, in particular, those parameterized by an arbitrary finite number of arbitrary solutions of the (1+1)-dimensional linear heat equation. We also establish the point similarity of the Fokker-Planck equation to the (1+2)-dimensional Kramers equations whose essential Lie invariance algebras are eight-dimensional, which allows us to find wide families of exact solutions of these Kramers equations in an easy way.

Abstract:Using an original method, we find the algebra of generalized symmetries of a remarkable (1+2)-dimensional ultraparabolic Fokker-Planck equation, which is also called the Kolmogorov equation and is singled out within the entire class of ultraparabolic linear second-order partial differential equations with three independent variables by its wonderful symmetry properties. It turns out that the essential part of this algebra is generated by the recursion operators associated with the nilradical of the essential Lie invariance algebra of the Kolmogorov equation, and the Casimir operator of the Levi factor of the latter algebra unexpectedly arises in the consideration.

Abstract:In this work we introduce two different generalizations of the Fokker-Planck equation in (1+1) dimensions by replacing the spatial derivatives in terms of generalized Dunkl-type derivatives involving reflection operators. As applications of these results, we solve exactly the generalized Fokker-Planck equations for the harmonic oscillator and the centrifugal-type potentials.

Weak and Perron's Solutions to Linear Kinetic Fokker-Planck Equations of Divergence Form in Bounded Domains

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate weak solutions and Perron-Wiener-Brelot solutions to the linear kinetic Fokker-Planck equation in bounded domains. We establish the existence of weak solutions by applying the Lions-Lax-Milgram theorem and the vanishing viscosity method in product domains. Additionally, we demonstrate the regularity of weak solutions and establish a strong maximum principle. Furthermore, we construct a Perron solution and provide examples of barriers in arbitrary bounded domains. Our findings are based on recent advancements in the theory of kinetic Fokker-Planck equations with rough coefficients, particularly focusing on the characterization of a weaker notion of trace and the convolution-translation.

Generalization of nonlocally related partial differential equation systems: unknown symmetric properties and analytical solutions

Abstract:Symmetry, which describes invariance, is an eternal concern in mathematics and physics, especially in the investigation of solutions to the partial differential equation (PDE). A PDE's nonlocally related PDE systems provide excellent approaches to search for various symmetries that expand the range of its known solutions. They composed of potential systems based on conservation laws and inverse potential systems (IPS) based on differential invariants. Our study is devoted to generalizing their construction and application in three-dimensional circumstances. Concretely, the potential of the algebraic gauge-constrained potential system is simplified without weakening its solution space. The potential system is extended via nonlocal conservation laws and double reductions. Afterwards, nonlocal symmetries are identified in the IPS.\@ The IPS is extended by the solvable Lie algebra and type \Rmnum{2} hidden symmetries. Besides, systems among equations can be connected via Cole-Hopf transformation.\@ Ultimately, established and extended systems embody rich symmetric properties and unprecedented analytical solutions, and may even further facilitate general coordinate-independent analysis in qualitative, numerical, perturbation, etc., this can be illustrated by several Burgers-type equations.

Abstract:Under investigation is an integrable generalization of the Fokas–Lenells equation, which can be derived from the negative power flow of a 2 × 2 matrix spectral problem with three potentials. Based on the gauge transformation of the matrix spectral problem, one kind of Darboux transformation with multi-parameters for the three-component coupled Fokas–Lenells system is constructed. As a reduction, the N-fold Darboux transformation for the generalized Fokas–Lenells equation is obtained, from which the N-soliton solution in a compact Vandermonde-like determinant form are given. Particularly, the explicit one- and two-soliton solutions are presented and their dynamical behaviors are shown graphically.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the nonlinear Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation with fixed collision frequency. We establish the global-in-time existence of weak solutions to the equation with large initial data. Moreover, we show that our solution satisfies the conservation laws of mass, momentum, and energy, and Boltzmann's $H$-theorem.

Abstract:We analyse a generalised Fokker-Planck equation by making essential use of its linearisability through a Cole-Hopf transformation. We determine solutions of travelling wave and multi-kink type by resorting to a geometric construction in the regime of small viscosity. The resulting asymptotic solutions are time-dependent Heaviside step functions representing classical (viscous) shock waves. As a result, line segments in the space of independent variables arise as resonance conditions of exponentials and represent shock trajectories. We then discuss fusion and fission dynamics exhibited by the multi-kinks by drawing parallels in terms of shock collisions and scattering processes between particles, which preserve total mass and momentum. Finally, we propose Bäcklund transformations and examine their action on the solutions to the equation under study.

Abstract:We study the Schrödinger–Poisson–Slater equation where , , and is the Newtonian potential. We prove the nonexistence of nontrivial solutions, existence of positive nonradial (and radial) ground-state solutions, and mountain-pass-type solutions to (SPS), depending on the values of parameters p and . To our knowledge, this is the first study of the existence of ground-state solutions at positive energy levels when . Furthermore, we show that a symmetry breaking occurs for the ground-state solutions, which is a purely nonlocal phenomenon that cannot be observed in the local prototype case.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a (2+1)-dimensional generalized Bogoyavlensky–Konopelchenko equation in fluid mechanics and plasma physics. We obtain the Lie point symmetry generators, Lie symmetry group and symmetry reductions via the Lie group method. Abstract:The Onsager's reciprocal relation plays a fundamental role in the nonequilibrium thermodynamics. However, unfortunately, its classical version is valid only within a narrow region near equilibrium due to the linear regression hypothesis, which largely restricts its usage. In this paper, based on the conservation-dissipation formalism, a generalized version of Onsager's relations for the master equations and Fokker-Planck equations was derived. Nonlinear constitutive relations with nonsymmetric and positively stable operators, which become symmetric under the detailed balance condition, constitute key features of this new generalization. Similar conclusions also hold for many other classical models in physics and chemistry, which in turn make the current study as a benchmark for the application of generalized Onsager's relations in nonequilibrium thermodynamics.

Abstract:We consider the initial value problem associated to the Poisson–Nernst–Planck–Navier–Stokes system which is first derived by Wang et al. (J Differ Equ 262:68–115, 2017) through an Energetic Variational Approach (EVA). Exploiting harmonic analysis tools (especially Littlewood–Paley theory), we first study the local and global well-posedness of the system in critical Besov spaces. Then, under a suitable condition involving only low-frequency of initial data, we use the Lyapunov-type inequality of the energy functionals to establish optimal time decay rates for the constructed global solutions. The proof crucially depends on a careful analysis for treating the extra effect of the distribution for the negative (positive) charge and non-standard product estimates, interpolation inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of a class of nonlinear Fokker-Planck type equations in a bounded domain with periodic boundary conditions. The system is motivated by our study of grain boundary dynamics, especially under the non-isothermal environments. To obtain the long time behavior of the solutions, in particular, the exponential decay, the kinematic structures of the systems are investigated using novel reinterpretation of the classical entropy method.

Abstract:We study the well-posedness, steady states and long time behavior of solutions to Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation with external confinement potential and nonlinear self-consistent interactions. Our analysis introduces newly characterized conditions on the interaction kernel that ensure the local asymptotic stability of the unique steady state. Compared to previous works on this topic, our results allow for large, singular and non-symmetric interactions. As a corollary of our main results, we show exponential decay of solutions to the Vlasov-Poisson-Fokker-Planck equation in dimension $3$, for low regularity initial data. In the repulsive case, the result holds in strongly nonlinear regimes (\emph{i.e.} for arbitrarily small Debye length). Our techniques rely on the design of new Lyapunov functionals based on hypocoercivity and hypoellipticity theories. We use norms which include part of the interaction kernel, and carefully mix ``macroscopic quantities based''--hypocoercivity with ``commutators based''--hypocoercivity.
