Abstract:Aim: To study the effects of psychotropic drug therapy on exploratory eye tracking movement before and after schizophrenia. Methods: A total of 10 patients with affective disorders among 38 inpatients with schizophrenia received examinations of exploratory eye tracking movement before and (30.19 ± 8.21) days after antipsychotic treatment. Positive and Negative Symptom Score (PANSS) was used to assess the psychiatric symptom. Results: PANSS had significant differences before and after treatment (t = 13.10, P < 0.01). However, there were no significant differences in discriminant analysis, number of eye fixation, responsive search score, cognitive search score, total eye scanning and mean eye scanning before and after treatment (t = 0.36, 0.56, 0.47, 0.77, 0.06, P > 0.05). Self-concordance of discriminant analysis of patients with schizophrenia was 84.2% and 81.6% respectively before and after treatment, and there was no significant difference (t = 0.36, P > 0.05). Conclusion: Typical and atypical antipsychotics and emotional correction drug have no influence on the various indexes of eye tracking movement, and the comparison between them has no significant difference. The index of eye tracking movement is basically not affected by antipsychotics. Discriminat analysis is stable before and after drug treatment, suggesting that exploratory eye tracking movement is a biological marker of schizophrenia to a great extent.
