Predefined-time position tracking optimization control with prescribed performance of the induction motor based on observers

Abstract:Highlights Considering that induction motors have the characteristics of multivariable, nonlinear, strong coupling, and they are susceptible to being impacted by external interferences in industrial production. Moreover, the rotor flux linkage of induction motors cannot be directly measured in practice. All of these bring some challenges to the analysis and high-performance tracking control of induction motors. This paper proposes a predefined-time prescribed performance control method based on observers, which realizes accurate tracking controls for the given values of the induction motor within a predefined-time, and takes into account the transient and steady-state performances of the system. Furthermore, this paper combines the adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) and the improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) together, and then uses the AGA_IPSO hybrid intelligent algorithm to optimize the controller parameters, which is helpful to improve the convergence speed and steady-state accuracy of the system. The comparative analyses of simulations and dSPACE simulated experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method in this research, as well as the feasibility of its application in practical motor systems. Therefore, this paper is relevant to the journal (ISA Transactions) as described in the aims, and it belongs to the "Automation" scope. The main theoretical contributions of this paper are summarized as follows: The predefined-time sliding mode observer (PTSMO) is crafted to observe the rotor flux linkage of the induction motor, while predefined-time disturbance observers (PTDOs) are designed to estimate the system's uncertainties. This not only addresses the challenge of unmeasurable rotor flux linkage in practice, but also enhances the system's control accuracy, with observation errors converging within a predefined time. Most current controller design methods, such as the ones presented in references [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] , predominantly concentrate on the steady-state performance of the system without fully considering the transient performance. This paper combines the predefined-time control and the prescribed performance method, ensuring both the transient and steady-state performances of the system, while also ensuring the motor states converge within a predefined time. Most current controller design methods, such as the ones proposed in references [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] , [9] , [10] , [11] , [12] , [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] , [17] , [18] , employed the trial-and-error method to tune controller parameters, which is highly dependent on the designers' subjective experience and time-consuming. In this paper, we combine the AGA and the IPSO to generate the AGA_IPSO hybrid algorithm to optimize the primary controller parameters, which not only simplifies the tuning process of system parameters, but also enhances the system's convergence speed and steady-state accuracy. To solve the position control problem of the induction motor with parameter perturbations, load disturbances, and modeling errors, a predefined-time position tracking optimization control method with prescribed performance is proposed. In practice, the rotor flux linkage of the induction motor can't be measured, and a predefined-time sliding mode observer (PTSMO) is applied to accurately estimate it. Additionally, predefined-time disturbance observers (PTDOs) are employed to identify the uncertainties in the motor system. The position and flux linkage controllers are then designed by integrating the predefined-time control approach with the prescribed performance function method, realizing accurate tracking control of the induction motor within a predefined time.
