Design of a Semantics-based Specialized Biological Search Engine

Abstract:The character of biological data, the search requirement of biologists and the limitations of general search engines are analyzed. Based on the analyses, the concept of a semantics tree is introduced, and a design scheme of the semantics-based specialized biological search engine with XML as the data interface is presented. A specialized and individual indexing tool for large-scale information is proposed to the researchers in the field of biology.
