Abstract:This paper studies the problem of global exponential stabilization and synchronization for impulsive Hopfield-type neural networks with impulse time window. By using the stability theory of impulsive dynamical systems, some sufficient conditions guaranteeing the global exponential stabilization and synchronization of Hopfield-type NNs are derived. The main innovation embodies that the impulsive instants are no longer limited at fixed instants, but suggested to be at some certain time intervals, named by impulse time windows. We shall show that impulses occurring randomly in impulse time windows can still stabilize and/or synchronize the considered neural networks under certain suitable assumptions. Two numerical examples are also given to illustrate the effectiveness of theoretical results.

Abstract:Many dynamic systems in physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and information science have impulsive dynamical behaviours due to abrupt jumps at certain instants during the dynamical process, and these complex dynamic behaviours can be modelled by impulsive differential systems. This paper formulates and studies the impulsive stabilization of the Hopfield‐type delayed neural networks with and without uncertainty. Several criteria guaranteeing stabilization of such systems are established by employing Lyapunov‐like stability theorem, linear matrix inequality approach, and other inequality techniques. A simple approach to the design of an impulsive controller is then presented. Two numerical examples are given for illustration of the theoretical results. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:This paper aims at the stability problem of state-dependent impulsive Hopfield neural networks. Under well-selected conditions, we transform the considered neural networks into the analog with fixed-time impulses, namely, fixed-time impulsive comparison systems. By means of the stability theory of fixed-time impulsive systems, we establish several sufficient conditions for the exponential stability of state-dependent impulsive Hopfield neural networks. The present results show that state-dependent impulsive Hopfield neural networks can remain stability property of continuous subsystem even if the impulses are of somewhat destabilizing, and that stabilizing impulses can stabilize the unstable continuous subsystem. We illustrate the validity of the theoretical results by three numerical examples.

Abstract:Since Hopfield neural networks have a wide application in our life, it is important to study it. In this Letter, we consider the stability of the equilibrium point of the impulsive Hopfield-type neural networks systems with time delays. By using Lyapunov functions and analysis technique, we get a result for the uniform stability of the equilibrium point of the impulsive Hopfield-type neural networks systems with time delays. We can see that impulses do contribute to system's stability behavior.

Abstract:This paper formulates and studies a model of hybrid impulsive and switching Hopfield neural networks (NNs). Using switching Lyapunov functions and a generalized Halanay inequality, some general criteria, which characterize the impulse and switching effects in aggregated form, for asymptotic and exponential stability of such NNs with arbitrary and conditioned impulsive switching are established. Several numerical examples are given for illustration and interpretation of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the uniform asymptotic stability, global asymptotic stability and global exponential stability of the equilibrium point of Hopfield neural networks with delays and impulsive perturbation. Some new stability criteria for such system are derived by using the Lyapunov functional method and the linear matrix inequality approach. The results are related to the size of delays and impulses. Our results are less restrictive and conservative than that given in some earlier references. Finally, two numerical examples showing the effectiveness of the present criteria are given.

Abstract:The impulsive stabilization problem of neural networks with discrete time-varying delays and unbounded continuously distributed delays is considered. By using impulse-time-dependent Lyapunov function-based techniques to capture the hybrid structure characteristics of the considered impulsive neural networks, two novel global exponential stability criteria are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which are capable of dealing with the case where both the continuous and discrete dynamics are unstable. When the original continuous-time delayed neural networks are not stable, sufficient conditions are developed for the design of exponentially stable linear impulsive state feedback controllers. Four numerical examples are given to illustrate the less conservatism and effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:This paper considers the impulsive control of unstable neural networks with unbounded time-varying delays, where the time delays to be addressed include the unbounded discrete time-varying delay and unbounded distributed time-varying delay. By employing impulsive control theory and some analysis techniques, several sufficient conditions ensuring μ-stability, including uniform stability, (global) asymptotical stability, and (global) exponential stability, are derived. It is shown that an unstable delay neural network, especially for the case of unbounded time-varying delays, can be stabilized and has μ-stability via proper impulsive control strategies. Three numerical examples and their simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control strategy.

Abstract:This paper studies the global exponential stability of the delayed Hopfield neural networks with both stochastic perturbations and impulse effects. By means of the Ito formula, Lyapunov-Razumikhin theorems and certain inequality techniques, some sufficient criteria are obtained which guarantee the global exponential stability of the delayed Hopfield neural networks with stochastic perturbations and impulse effects. The results characterize the intricate effects of the impulses and then can be used to estimate the feasible upper bounds of impulses. Furthermore, a numerical simulation is given to illustrate the validity of our results.
