Abstract:Internet traffic analysis, models simulation and prediction play a very important part in the network management and design. This paper shows the new thought in network traffic modelling and prediction, and proposes a new algorithm to modify the model coefficient continuously. By far, most of models have not been considered to possess the adaptive ability. Our goal is to improve the model adaptive ability and make the model parameters update dynamically. We present the modified LSL algorithm, which can modify the parameters with each new input data update and has the property of fast convergence and high accuracy.

Abstract:Due to the complicated and ever-changing characteristics of Internet, network traffic prediction is a very complex and difficult issue in the network management and design. This paper shows a model with a new algorithm (MLSL), which updates the model parameters and improves the adaptive ability of the model. Generating self-similar series to simulate the network traffic and do some test, the experimental results of simulating and actual network traffic data have proved that this algorithm has the advantage of high accuracy and fast convergence.

Abstract:In this paper, traffic prediction models based on chaos theory are studied and compared with FARIMA (Fractional Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) predictors by means of the adopted measurements of predictability. The traffic prediction results are applied in the bandwidth allocation of a mesh network, and the OPNET simulation platform is developed in order to compare their effects. The adopted predictability measurements are inadequate because although the chaotic predictor based on the Lyapunov exponent with worse values of the measurements can timely predict the burstiness of self-similar traffic, the FARIMA predictor forecasts the burstiness with a time-delay. The DAMA (dynamic assignment multi-access) bandwidth allocation strategy combined with the chaotic predictor can provide better QoS performance.

Abstract:Network traffic prediction is a very complex and difficult issue in the network management and design. This paper shows a model with a new algorithm (MLSL), and the model parameters can be modified by the new algorithm, which improves the adaptive ability of the model and makes the model adaptive function. Simulation and actual network traffic data experiment has proved that this algorithm has the advantage of high prediction accuracy and fast convergence, and its computing complexity is lower than other related algorithms.

Abstract:By going deep into analyzing FHWA highway traffic noise prediction model and introducing the concepts of equivalent traffic flow and equivalent traffic speed to deal with mixed vehicles flow, a calculating model for freely spreading highway traffic noise is developed with the means of regression analysis,which deduces a model for highway traffic noise prediction.The model for highway traffic noise prediction is supported by data of on-the-spot survey and has proved available and more convenient. Results Predicted by the model are quite suitable for present highway traffic situation in china.

Abstract:Network traffic prediction is very important in network protocol designing,network management and high performance routers designing etc.Currently,ARMA and FARIMA time series are the main models used to fit and predict the network traffic.But the relation between time scale and time series models hasn't been studied.The network traffic was modeled according to different time scales using the traffic trace data taken from the Internet traffic archive,and the prediction performance of those models was compared.The results show that time series models perform better under the large scale(minute)than under small time scales(millisecond and second),and the performance of self similarity model FARIMA shows no advantage over other models.

Abstract:Fast and accurate methods for predicting traffic properties and trend are essential for dynamic network resource management and congestion control. With the aim of performing online and feasible prediction of network traffic, this paper proposes a novel time series model, named adaptive autoregressive (AAR). This model is built upon an adaptive memory-shortening technique and an adaptive-order selection method originally developed by this study. Compared to the conventional one-step ahead prediction using traditional Box-Jenkins time series models (e.g. AR, MA, ARMA, ARIMA and ARFIMA), performance results obtained from actual Internet traffic traces have demonstrated that the proposed AAR model is able to support online prediction of dynamic network traffic with reasonable accuracy and relatively low computation complexity. Abstract:With the rapid development of network communication technology, the continuous deepening of Internet application and the increasing enrichment of information, the Internet has become an important infrastructure of human society. With the development of network technology and the increasing complexity of network topology, the supervision of network is facing great challenges. Among them, network traffic anomaly detection is one of the important tasks in network supervision. It is an indispensable technical means in network intrusion detection, security monitoring, operation and maintenance. Network security has become a problem faced by people. Anomaly detection is valued by people in academia and industry because it can detect unknown attacks. Researchers have proposed a large number of anomaly detection methods and systems. However, with the continuous growth of network bandwidth and the continuous progress of network attack and defense game, the network itself is in the process of dynamic evolution, and the means and methods of network attack are also evolving, resulting in the improvement of detection accuracy and accuracy of anomaly detection system Operational efficiency, security and ease of use are facing severe challenges. It is of great significance to propose anomaly detection methods with high detection accuracy and high operation efficiency and optimize existing detection algorithms. It is also a cutting-edge scientific problem of common concern in the field of global network security in academia and industry. Based on the prediction model and classifier, this paper proposes a real-time online anomaly detection method for network traffic, and systematically implements this method.

Abstract:With continuous scale-up of the network and increase of the kinds of the services on the network, more and more people pay attention to the modeling and prediction for network traffic. Recently, SVM (Support Vector Machine), a new machine learning method, is comprehensively used to solve the problem of non-liner classification and regression. A network traffic predictive method presented in this paper is based on the LS-SVM (Least Squares SVM). Using NS2 simulator, we simulate the process of the network running with Drop-tail and RED controller respectively, then collect the being predicted traffic data which is on the bottleneck router. The results on the precision of prediction is good and feasible.

Abstract:Network Traffic prediction plays an important part in network measurement.By measuring and predicting,traffic within and between networks and its tendency can be grasped.Thus,the network and its balanced load can be better reconstructed.Based on the multi-time scale and the nonlinear character of the real-timely traffic time series,the grey markov model combining grey system theory and Markov chain is put forward.This method synthesizes the advantages of GM forecasting method,which is simple and needs less original data,and of Markov method which possesses the characteristics of nonlinear fitting.The method is used to build model of real network traffic,and the results are much better,and the practical application results show the proposed approach is feasible and effective.

Abstract:In order to change the passive monitoring mode of the current road network operation, a portable and reusable traffic congestion and traffic accident risk pre-prediction and active early warning model was studied. After comprehensive research and study of domestic and international traffic operation state early warning algorithms, a dynamic Bayesian network was selected to build the early warning model. Firstly, nearly 4 million traffic control station and vehicle detector detection data from May to December 2019 were integrated, and data integrity test and multi-source data association were carried out to mine the risk characteristics of traffic congestion and traffic accidents on the highway network, which were used as sample data to train the dynamic Bayesian network. Through testing and analysis, the model can realize short-term traffic congestion and traffic accident risk early warning, and the early warning accuracy rate exceeds 85%. The developed model shares the early warning results with the existing business system in real time through the data interface to improve the scope of application of the model.

Abstract:With the increasingly higher demand on radio access networks, problems such as serious energy consumption and network load imbalance have aroused, catching more attention from the network operators. To solve these problems, load prediction has been considered as one possible solution. This paper investigates two load prediction models to predict the traffic load in cells, in order to improve the energy saving strategies. One of the proposed algorithm is a linear ensemble model which is composed of three sub-models, to predict the traffic load in terms of time, space and historical pattern respectively. This model is named as the ensemble model. Different methods such as time series analysis, linear regression and regression tree are applied to the sub-models, after which adjusted weights are calculated and allocated to each of the three sub-models to create the ensemble model. The second model investigated in this paper is convolutional neural network (CNN) based, which utilizes the residual learning network (ResNet) structure to train the collected data and at the same time improves the calculation efficiency. This model is thus referred as ResNet model in this paper. The collected data of traffic load in Milan area is put into training and verification by the proposed models. The performance of proposed methods is evaluated. The result shows that ensemble model provides a higher prediction accuracy than the other base line models and the ResNet model improves the efficiency of calculation.

Abstract:We present a novel model called A2R--"Adaptive-AR"--based on a well-known continuum-based model called AR Aw and Rascle (2000) for the simulation of vehicle traffic flows. However, in the standard continuum-based model, vehicles usually follow the flows passively, without taking into account drivers' behavior and effectiveness. In order to simulate real-life traffic flows, we extend the model with a few factors, which include the effectiveness of drivers' prediction, drivers' reaction time, and drivers' types. We demonstrate that our A2R model is effective and the results of the experiments agree well with experience in real world. It has been shown that such a model makes vehicle flows perform more realistically and is closer to the real-life traffic than AR (short for Aw and Rascle and introduced in Aw and Rascle (2000)) model while having a similar performance.

Abstract:Network traffic has time-varying and nonlinear characteristics, leading to relatively low accuracy of single linear and nonlinear prediction models. Therefore, a combination model prediction method of autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) bi-directional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) is proposed. First, the ARIMA model is used for nonsmooth modeling to obtain linear variation characteristics. Then the ARIMA prediction values are subtracted from the actual data to obtain the residual series. The optimal parameters of the BiLSTM are also optimized by IPSO. Then the optimized BiLSTM is modeled on the residual series to obtain the residual variation characteristics. Finally, the ARIMA linear predictions and the IPSO optimized BiLSTM residual predictions are summed to obtain the final prediction results. The proposed combination model outperforms the comparison model, has smaller prediction errors, and can better characterize the complex features of network traffic.

Abstract:With the rapid development of information technology, multiple time series forecasting, which is typical of traffic flow forecasting, has become increasingly important in big data analysis. As the cornerstone of intelligent transportation system, traffic flow forecasting has important scientific research value and practical application value for urban traffic operation scheduling, quality and efficiency improvement of logistics transportation industry and public travel planning. Traffic flow prediction is always an important task of intelligent transportation system. Due to the complex temporal and spatial dependence of traffic flow sequence, it is very challenging to construct accurate traffic flow prediction in its ring neural network, graph network and Transformer model. Much of the existing work is based on very good models. Considering the advantages of convolutional networks, such as high computational efficiency and strong feature extraction ability, a traffic flow prediction model based on multi-view spatiotemporal convolution is proposed.
