Research on Transfer Technique of Interchange Format-Based Process Model

Abstract:In order to facilitate the reuse and information sharing of process models, an XML-based interchange format of IDEF3 models (Extended IDEF3 Markup Language) was presented, with which IDEF3 models could be transferred to workflow process models. The interchange format retained the original definitions of the syntax and semantics of IDEF3 models, and expanded some model elements used to restore detailed information such as time properties, operation restrictions etc., and related information such as roles, resources, etc., so as to make it possible to build up connections among different stages of process modeling. In addition, a supporting software tool was developed to help model transfer among various process modeling methods.
