Abstract:A graph G is 3-domination-critical (3-critical, for short), if its domination number gamma is 3 and the addition of any edge decreases gamma by 1. Abstract:Let $\gamma_t(G)$ be the total domination number of graph $G$, a graph $G$ is $k$-total domination vertex critical (or\ just\ $k$-$\gamma_t$-critical) if $\gamma_t(G)=k$, and for any vertex $v$ of $G$ that is not adjacent to a vertex of degree one, $\gamma_t(G-v)=k-1$. Mojdeh and Rad \cite{MR06} proposed an open problem: Does there exist a 3-$\gamma_t$-critical graph $G$ of order $\Delta(G)+3$ with $\Delta(G)$ odd? In this paper, we prove that there exists a 3-$\gamma_t$-critical graph $G$ of order $\Delta(G)+3$ with odd $\Delta(G)\geq 9$.

Abstract:A graph G is 3-domination-critical if its domination number γ is 3 and the addition of any edge decreases γ by 1. Wojcicka conjectured that every 3-domination-critical graph with δ⩾2 has a hamiltonian cycle (J. Graph Theory 14 (1990) 205–215). The conjecture had been proved and its proof consists of two parts: the case α⩽δ+1 (J. Graph Theory 25 (1997) 173–184) and the case α=δ+2 (Discrete Appl. Math. 92 (1999) 57–70). In this paper, we give a new and simple proof of the conjecture by using Hanson's (J. Combin. Math. Combin. Comput. 13 (1993) 121–128) and Bondy-Chvátal's (Discrete Math. 15(1976) 111–135) closure operations.

Abstract:Nine variations of the concept of domination in a simple graph are identified as fundamental domination concepts, and a unified approach is introduced for studying them. For each variation, the minimum cardinality of a subset of dominating elements is the corresponding fundamental domination number. It is observed that, for each nontrivial connected graph, at most five of these nine numbers can be different, and inequalities between these five numbers are given. Finally, these fundamental dominations are interpreted in terms of the total graph of the given graph, a concept introduced by the second author in 1965. It is argued that the very first domination concept, defined by O. Ore in 1962 and under a different name by C. Berge in 1958, deserves to be called the most fundamental of graph dominations.

Abstract:Let G = (V, E) be a graph. A subset S of V is called a dominating set if each vertex of V - S has at least one neighbor in S. The domination number gamma (G) equals the minimum cardinality of a dominating set in G. A minus dominating function on G is a function f : V -> {-1, 0, 1} such that f(N[v]) = Sigma(u is an element of N[v]) f(u) >= 1 for each v is an element of V, where N[v] is the closed neighborhood of v. The minus domination number of G is gamma(-)(G) = min{Sigma(v is an element of V) f(v) vertical bar f is a minus dominating function on G). It was incorrectly shown in [X. Yang, Q. Hou, X. Huang, H. Xuan, The difference between the domination number and minus domination number of a cubic graph, Applied Mathematics Letters 16 (2003) 1089-1093] that there is an infinite family of cubic graphs in which the difference gamma - gamma(-) can be made arbitrary large. In this paper, computer-aided approaches for obtaining bounds for domination number on torus graphs are here considered, and many new exact values and bounds are obtained.

Abstract:A graph G is called a (P->= n, k)-factor-critical covered graph if for any Q subset of V(G) with vertical bar Q vertical bar = k and any e is an element of E(G - Q), G - Q has a P-<= n-factor covering e. We demonstrate that (i) a (k + 1)-connected graph G with at least k + 3 vertices is a (P->= 3, k)-factor-critical covered graph if its toughness t(G) > (2 + k)/3; (ii) a (k + 2)-connected graph G is a (P->= 3, k)-factor-critical covered graph if its isolated toughness I(G) > (5 + k)/3. Abstract:An arc of a graph is an oriented edge and a 3-arc is a 4-tuple $(v,u,x,y)$ of vertices such that both $(v,u,x)$ and $(u,x,y)$ are paths of length two. The 3-arc graph of a graph $G$ is defined to have vertices the arcs of $G$ such that two arcs $uv, xy$ are adjacent if and only if $(v,u,x,y)$ is a 3-arc of $G$. In this paper we give a characterization of 3-arc graphs and obtain sharp upper bounds on the domination number of the 3-arc graph of a graph $G$ in terms that of $G$.

Abstract:Given a graph G and an integer k≥2 , a spanning subgraph H of G is called a P≥k -factor of G if every component of H is a path with at least k vertices. A graph G is P≥k -factor avoidable if for every edge e∈E(G) , G has a P≥k -factor excluding e . A graph G is said to be (P≥k,n) -factor critical avoidable if the graph G−V′ is P≥k -factor avoidable for any V′⊆V(G) with |V′|=n . Here we study the sharp bounds of toughness and isolated toughness conditions for the existence of (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable graphs. In view of graph theory approaches, this paper mainly contributes to verify that (i) An (n+2) -connected graph is (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable if its toughness τ(G)>n+24 ; (ii) An (n+2) -connected graph is (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable if its isolated toughness I(G)>n+64 .

Abstract:A graph G without isolated vertices is total domination vertex critical, if for any vertex v of G that is not adjacent to a pendant vertex, the total domination number of G-v is less than the total domination number of G. We call these graphs γt-critical. If G is a γt-critical graph of order n, then it can be shown that n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1, where △(G) is the maximum degree of G. In this paper, we characterize the graphs in the case n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1 with γt(G) = 3.

Abstract:A subset S of the vertex set of a graph G is called acyclic if the subgraph it induces in G contains no cycles. We call S an acyclic dominating set if it is both acyclic and dominating. The minimum cardinality of an acyclic dominating set, denoted by gamma a(G), is called the acyclic domination number of G. A graph G is 2-diameter-critical if it has diameter 2 and the deletion of any edge increases its diameter. In this paper, we show that for any positive integers k and d >= 3, there is a 2-diameter-critical graph G such that delta(G) = d and gamma a(G) - gamma(G) >= k, and our result answers a question posed by Cheng et al. in negative.

Abstract:A domination coloring of a graph G is a proper vertex coloring of G, such that each vertex of G dominates at least one color class (possibly its own class), and each color class is dominated by at least one vertex. The minimum number of colors among all domination colorings is called the domination chromatic number, denoted by χdd(G). In this paper, we study the complexity of the k-domination coloring problem by proving its NP-completeness for arbitrary graphs. We give basic results and properties of χdd(G), including the bounds and characterization results, and further research χdd(G) of some special classes of graphs, such as the split graphs, the generalized Petersen graphs, corona products, and edge corona products. Several results on graphs with χdd(G)=χ(G) are presented. Moreover, an application of domination colorings in social networks is proposed.
The 1/3-conjectures for domination in cubic graphs

Abstract:A set S of vertices in a graph G is a dominating set of G if every vertex not in S is adjacent to a vertex in S . The domination number of G, denoted by $\gamma$(G), is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set in G. In a breakthrough paper in 2008, L{ö}wenstein and Rautenbach proved that if G is a cubic graph of order n and girth at least 83, then $\gamma$(G) $\le$ n/3. A natural question is if this girth condition can be lowered. The question gave birth to two 1/3-conjectures for domination in cubic graphs. The first conjecture, posed by Verstraete in 2010, states that if G is a cubic graph on n vertices with girth at least 6, then $\gamma$(G) $\le$ n/3. The second conjecture, first posed as a question by Kostochka in 2009, states that if G is a cubic, bipartite graph of order n, then $\gamma$(G) $\le$n/3. In this paper, we prove Verstraete's conjecture when there is no 7-cycle and no 8-cycle, and we prove the Kostochka's related conjecture for bipartite graphs when there is no 4-cycle and no 8-cycle.
