Abstract:A few of qualities of beer bottles must be checked before they are bottled. A empty bottle image inspection system based on DSP is designed, which is a distributed multichannel simulating system with high speed and high precision, equipped with realtime collection and disposing method for video signals. Therefore, it could complete the task of empty bottle inspection. As the result of plenty of tests, the checking precision could reach 98% when the stuffs or cracks scale of bottle base is less than 3.5 mm2.

ASLiquid: Non-Intrusive Liquid Counterfeit Identification with Your Earphones

Abstract:As society progresses, liquid identification plays an increasingly important role in human life. But for now, minority of existing liquid identification solutions on the market can meet daily requirements of being ubiquitous, cost-effective and non-intrusive enough. In this work, we propose ASLiquid, the first liquid counterfeit identification system with commercial off-the-shelf earphones. Our core insight is that earphones can effectively induce acoustic resonance in container, and this phenomenon is observed highly associated with the changes in liquid density and solute compositions. Deploying ASLiquid introduces three main challenges: hardware heterogeneity among different earphones, diversity of user operations, and data complexity due to variations in liquid volume and device placement. To address these issues, we first propose to eliminate the existence of hardware noise and frequency response diversity for an earphone-irrelevant solution. Afterwards, we design a user operation adaptation algorithm to extract valuable feature data during each measurement period. To alleviate problems in data complexity, we propose a spectrum projection algorithm that can effectively generate CFR data of unknown liquid volumes and a VAE based anomaly detection model for counterfeit identification. We evaluate our system with six different earphones and under various conditions. Experimental results reveal that ASLiquid can achieve F1 scores of 95%-99.25% for seven frequently occurring liquid counterfeit tasks, even in specialized attacks on liquids with 1% difference in mass fraction and different types of solutions but with the same density.

Abstract:In order to detect the impurities in bottle, a real-time visual inspection system was designed. A mathematical model for double-CCD (charge coupled device) stereoscopic system was set up according to geometrical imaging principle and the equation applied to get the position of impurity from two images was deduced. Morphological wavelet was used to simplify the image. Both adaptive thresholding and edge detector were applied to separate impurities from the image, and then feature vectors were used for feature-match between two images. When image resolution is near 4 pixel/mm, the identification accuracy is about 98% and the time of detecting a bottle is less than 200 ms.

Abstract:An object detection for vision-aided inventory counting is developed. The propose approach is simple to use and reduce the workload remarkably. Meanwhile, the approach count the items of interest almost in real time with an acceptable precision, which is desirable in inventory counting. The experiment results show that the proposed approach is efficient to fulfill the counting task.

Abstract:Currently, in the beverage filling production line, the corresponding detection device is usually installed after each production process to detect whether the beverage is defective. This method of installing testing devices in different working positions can classify and eliminate defects of defective products, but it needs to manufacture multiple sets of different types of defective testing machines, which has problems such as high resource consumption and waste of installation space. In order to solve these problems, an expandable multi-functional integrated inspection system has been designed in this paper, which can synchronize defects detection in different processes. The system includes a multitasking detection network based on multi-class decoders. By jointly training the detection network with the collected data set, the results of beverage bottle label segmentation, region of interest (ROI) detection, and code recognition can be obtained simultaneously, thus the system can effectively realize the synchronous detection of different defects such as label and spray code missing, inversion and so on. The system also provides an expandable multitasking interface, which can be extended according to the other actual requirements of the production line. Experimental results show that the system achieves 96% detection accuracy, 18000 bottles/h detection speed and good robustness.

Abstract:The vision system of apple harvesting robot was researched and designed to make it possible for realizing automatic harvesting of apple. The vision system model is studied. The vision system of apple harvesting robot was designed by two aspects, including hardware composition and soft architecture. The VFW method was employed to realize the real-time image acquisition. The recognition of vision system is developed using the combination method of regional growth algorithm and color characteristics. The preliminary orientation of apple target was calculated by finding its centroid. At last, the performance of this version system was evaluated. The results showed that the developed vision system of apple harvesting robot successfully achieved the recognition and orientation of apple target. It was conclude that this version system was effective for realizing the automatic harvesting of apple.

Abstract:Different methods of automatic detecting are challenging problems in many fields Most of them are simply based on detection Of image or sound, and have some limitations caused by the camera's field of view or the frequency of the sound. Our system is based on sound detection and image analysis of object's motion. Sound detection adopts an algorithm of hyperbolic locating according to signal's time difference which is sensed by a comparator from two microphones. Image analysis integrates two methods into the system which are based on motion and complexion matching The proposed system utilizes both sound and image for signal processing, so it can work without serious deterioration performance in case of low resolution. Experiments on sound detection and image analysis are presented and the results are discussed. The design of the system will be applied well in intelligence Systems.

Abstract:To satisfy the increasing demands of anti-conterfeiting for commercial products,a novel designing and generating system for complementary color stereo anti-counterfeiting labels is proposed. The image of real label is captured by a CCD and imported to the computer.The grey scales of pixels in label image are picked up and converted into binocular disparity(corresponding to depth) using Visual C++ programming.A blue-green filtered image(left image) serving as red background and a red-blue filtered image(right image) containing the label information are then generated.The two images are finally overlaid into one complementary color stereo anti-counterfeiting label,which can be observed using a pair of red-green glasses.With this method,we designed and made some typical anti-counterfeiting labels,showing satisfactory and vivid label effect The system and software provide technical foundation for practical applications.
On-line detection of foreign substances in glass bottles filled with transfusion solution through computer vision

Abstract:In this paper, a real time computer vision system was developed to detect a glass bottle filled with transfusion solution on a packing line. The theory, the mechanical structure, and the detection algorithm are described. Foreign substances mixed in transfusion solution are distinguished from bottle side wall defects by a relative movement between a resting bottle and the inside moving solution. Foreign objects moving down in the bottle are first detected with background subtracting, where a normalized cross correlation is employed to identify two frames between which no moving objects overlap and the static back-ground is obtained through an inter-frame difference. In the second stage, falling objects are recognized through an adapted mean-shift tracker, in which an adaptive searching window is used to only find falling objects. The system was tested on 250-ml transfusion bottles. The result shows that it can effectively detect the small visible foreign substances fulfilling the requirements of the application..
Vision Based Liquid Level Detection and Bubble Area Segmentation in Liquor Distillation

Abstract:In order to automatically measure the flow rate, alcohol strength and roughly determine the quality of distilled liquor, a system was developed with two transparent standard containers, two load cell sensors, and a camera. This paper presents the imaging part of the measurement system, including the optical path as well as a set of image processing methods to detect the position of the liquid level and calculate the amount of the bubbles on the top of the liquid. Four ArUco markers are used to locate the containers in the captured image and the containers are cropped out. Then the liquid level is detected and the area of bubbles are segmented using statistical information of the pixels in each container. According to the test results, the proposed methods archive accurate and real-time detection on an embedded processor and is robust to the change of the illumination, flowrate, liquid level and camera position.

Abstract:Glass bottles are widely used as containers in the food and beverage industry, especially for beer and carbonated beverages. As the key part of a glass bottle, the bottle bottom and its quality are closely related to product safety. Therefore, the bottle bottom must be inspected before the bottle is used for packaging. In this paper, an apparatus based on machine vision is designed for real-time bottle bottom inspection, and a framework for the defect detection mainly using saliency detection and template matching is presented. Following a brief description of the apparatus, our emphasis is on the image analysis. First, we locate the bottom by combining Hough circle detection with the size prior, and we divide the region of interest into three measurement regions: central panel region, annular panel region, and annular texture region. Then, a saliency detection method is proposed for finding defective areas inside the central panel region. A multiscale filtering method is adopted to search for defects in the annular panel region. For the annular texture region, we combine template matching with multiscale filtering to detect defects. Finally, the defect detection results of the three measurement regions are fused to distinguish the quality of the tested bottle bottom. The proposed defect detection framework is evaluated on bottle bottom images acquired by our designed apparatus. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed methods achieve the best performance in comparison with many conventional methods.

An Efficient and Light-weight Detector for Wine Bottle Defects*

Abstract:Detecting defects on the wine bottle surface is a challenging task due to these factors: (1) tiny defects on the surface, (2) visually similar defects with design patterns on bottles, (3) reflective (metallic) bottle surface, (4) real-time requirement. In this paper, we propose an efficient and light-weight detector for the defects. To this end, we adopt EfficientNet- B3 [1] as the backbone of the detector and YOLO [2] as the detection head. In addition, we use channel pruning approach [3] to obtain a more compact model. In the experiments, we obtain a score of 0.77 on the validation dataset, similar performance comparing to the two-stage methods[23]. The parameters of our detector are only 5. $8\mathrm{M}$, which are about one tenth of the YOLO's [2]. The proposed detector achieves a good balance between speed and accuracy.

Abstract:The quality control of liquid packaging, such as cooking oils and beverages (bottled water, soft drinks, juices, etc.), is crucial due to the inherent risk of leakage. This process involves inspecting bottles for cap and seal ring defects and addressing issues arising from the gradual degradation of filling machines, leading to variations in the surface level of liquid bottles over time. Additionally, proper label placement significantly contributes to the customer-friendliness of a product. This research aims to introduce an automated vision-based rating system designed for the online inspection of defects in liquid bottles. The system is versatile, applicable to both academic and industrial settings, and can be easily adapted for use with various types of transparent liquid bottles. The defect detection metrics include three measures of distance determination and pattern matching. The equipment used in this study includes a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) camera with a USB connection, a laptop, and a 14-speed conveyor belt, among other components. The system demonstrated an average accuracy of 95.6%, with specific accuracies for surface level, cap, and label placement at 100%, 95%, and 92%, respectively.

Abstract:Encasement counting is an important part of edible oil production line .How to use the advanced technology in the high-speed assembly line to improve the efficiency ,reduce cost,reduce the error detection rate and miss detection rate is the key .A complete set of intelligent encasement counting system based on machine vision is designed ,including the hardware parts ,such as industrial camera light source ,industrial personal computer and so on ,and the software parts ,such as mechanical control ,image processing and so on .A series of algorithms such as image preprocessing denoising ,bottle cap positioning and lifting ring positioning are proposed to deal with the quantity of oil bottles and the defects of the lifting ring .Experimental results show that the pro-posed method can effectively improve the detection rate and efficiency ,and meet the requirements of practical applications .

Abstract:To address the problem of online automatic inspection of drug liquid bottles in production line, an implantable visual inspection system is designed and the ensemble learning (EL) algorithm for detection is proposed based on multifeatures. A tunnel structure is designed for visual inspection system, which allows the bottles inspection to be automated without changing original processes and devices. A high-precision method is proposed for vision detection of drug liquid bottles. A local background difference method is utilized as a soft ON–OFF to capture the bottle image. An image gray-level equalization preprocessing technology is used to eliminate the impact from illumination. Three features are designed, which contains blocked histogram of gradient, blocked histogram of gray, and raw pixel. An EL algorithm is proposed based on independence test and multifeatures, after theoretically analyzing the precondition of precision boosting to EL. Some results of analysis and comparison prove that the proposed method is advanced compared with baseline methods. Specially, there exist remarkable advantages in our method when there are some noises in sample labels. Then, we carried on a 72-h continuous test on a practical production line, in which the error rate of inspection is less than 1‰. In terms of time and precision, it is superior to the traditional manual detection. Hence, the test results prove that the visual inspection system designed and algorithm proposed are advanced and practical.

Study Of Automatic Inspection Of Impurities In Bottled Medical Solution Based On Machine Vision

Abstract:This paper presents a method of inspection of impurities in bottled medical solution based on machine vision. Apparatus of the experiment includes a rotating table, a LED illumination, a CCD camera, and an image processor. The image-processing program is designed in Visual C++, which is on the basis of the difference of adjacent frames of images. The bottle to be detected rotates at a high speed, and the solution with impurities is moving fast with the bottle. When the rotation of the bottle stops, the CCD camera acquires five images successively, which are then sent to the image processor. After image processing and analysis, it can be told if there is any impurity detected. Statistical analyses are employed to provide an appropriate threshold and a classifier is trained to get a correct result. The method in the paper can be used in automating the inspection of bottled medical solutions. Experiments show that the impurities of a diameter larger than 0.5mm can be detected with this method.

Abstract:On a high-speed production line,tilt of bottles,burrs on the bottleneck,and residual droplets after cleaning affect accuracy of PET bottle inspection.To deal with the problem,a bottle detection algorithm based on symmetry matching is proposed.Considering symmetry of the bottle image,the bottle axis can be determined accurately by registering the images before and after horizontal flipping.Thus tilts can be compensated.Burrs and droplets are eliminated by using correlation of pixels on both sides of the axis.Consequently,the support rings can be detected and bottle caps can be classified precisely.Experimental results show high accuracy,speed and robustness of the proposed algorithm as compared with the state-of-theart techniques.For images sized 640×480,the average detection time is 27.4 ms,which meets the requirement of high-speed production lines.

Abstract:Glass chip in liquid injection must be avoided according to the medicine regulations. We develop a system that can detect glass chip automatically. The system imitates the artificial glass chip inspection method which is done by swaying and vibrating the container. An industrial camera acquires a sequence of images during the process. The image data are sent to the computer and our algorithm analyses the data. Image binarization, mathematic morphological filtering and connected area analysis are used to detect glass chip candidate areas. Then we use optical flow method to detect moving object. Finally, we analyze the results comprehensively to determine whether there is glass chip in the current sample.
