Abstract:Three important nonlinear evolution equations are solved with the aid of the symbolic manipulation system, Maple, using the direct algebraic method proposed recently. We explicitly obtain several new solutions of physical interest in addition to rederiving all the known solutions.

Abstract:Based on computerized symbolic computation and a new, general ansatze, a generalized tanh-function method for constructing multiple travelling wave solutions of nonlinear evolution. equations (NEEs) is presented and implemented in a computer algebraic system. Applying the generalized method, with the aid of Maple, we consider some NEEs with physics interests. As a result, we can successfully recover the previously known solitary wave solutions that had been found by-the extended tanh-function method and other more sophisticated methods. More importantly, for some equations, we also obtain other new and more general solutions at same time. The results include kink-profile solitary-wave-solutions, bell-profile solitary-wave solutions, periodic wave solutions, rational solutions, singular solutions and new formal solutions. The properties of the new soliton solutions for WBK equations are shown by some figures. (C) 2003 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Based on three types of Riccati equations, an algebraic and straightforward method for finding exact travelling wave solutions to nonlinear evolution equations is proposed, and a Maple package REAM which can entirely automatically output the exact solitary wave solutions as well as periodic wave solutions is presented. Using REAM the solutions for more than one hundred nonlinear evolution equations have been obtained. Not only are previously known solutions recovered but, in some cases, new solutions or more general form of solutions are obtained.

Abstract:By using the general solutions of a coupled Riccati equations and the relations between them a direct algebra method is described to construct several kinds of closed-form travelling wave solutions for some nonlinear differential equations. By this method three important nonlinear partial differential equations are studied and, in addition to rederiving all known solutions, several new solutions are explicitly obtained with the aid of symbolic computation. Abstract:A general semi-analytic method is suggested to obtain the solitary wave solutions for some kinds of nonlinear equations, by the combination of the function-series method and the simulated annealing technique. The validity and reliability of the method are tested by applying it to the study of a generalized φ4 equation. With the proper boundary and initial conditions, pulse-, kink- and breather-like solitons and their combinations are obtained.

Abstract:Making use of a new generalized ansatze and a proper transformation, we generalized the extended tanh-function method. Applying the generalized method with the aid of Maple, we consider some nonlinear evolution equations. As a result, we can successfully recover the previously known solitary wave solutions that had been found by the extended tanh-function method and other more sophisticated methods. More importantly, for some equations, we also obtain other new and more general solutions at the same time. Abstract:A unified approach is presented for finding the travelling wave solutions to a large class of nonlinear evolution equations defined by the concept of "rank". The key idea of this method is to make use of the arbitrariness of the Painleve analysis manifold. We selected a new expansion variable, thus obtaining a rich variety of exact travelling wave solutions to a nonlinear evolution equation, including solitary wave solutions, triangular periodic solutions and Jacobi periodic wave solutions, as well as rational solutions and so on. This method is completely algorithmic, hence the Maple implementation is also used. Several examples illustrate the capabilities of the package; new solutions and more general types of solutions are obtained for some nonlinear evolution equations.

Abstract:In this paper, an effective discrimination algorithm is presented to deal with equations arising from physical problems. The aim of the algorithm is to discriminate and derive the single traveling wave solutions of a large class of nonlinear evolution equations. Many examples are given to illustrate the algorithm. At the same time, some factorization technique are presented to construct the traveling wave solutions of nonlinear evolution equations, such as Camassa–Holm equation, Kolmogorov–Petrovskii–Piskunov equation, and so on. Then a direct constructive method called multi-auxiliary equations expansion method is described to derive the multi-solitary wave solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. Finally, a class of novel multi-solitary wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional asymmetric version of the Nizhnik–Novikov–Veselov equation are given by three direct methods. The algorithm proposed in this paper can be steadily applied to some other nonlinear problems.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a new class of nonlinear partial differential equations with nonlinear term of any order, utt+a1uxx+a2u+a3up+a4u2p−1=0, which contains some particular important equations. We give a new kind of transformation and a new generalized ansätze to treat this class of equations. As a result, many explicit exact solutions, which contain new kink-profile solitary-wave solutions, bell-profile solitary-wave solutions, periodic wave solutions and combined formal solitary-wave solutions, are obtained by the extended method. In addition, we also can derive rational solutions for this class of equations.

Abstract:A generalized hyperbolic function expansion method is proposed to obtain exact solitary wave solutions of two nonlinear wave equations with the aid of Maple.Some of the new solutions are made up of four hyperbolic functions.The results show the method is simple and effective and can be applied to other nonlinear wave equations.

Abstract:In physical sciences, nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs) and their exact solutions are of fundamental importance. However, there is no answer yet as to whether or not one is able to go beyond travelling waves with the recently proposed tanh method. In this paper, without loss of conciseness and straightforwardness, a generalized tanh algorithm with symbolic computation is suggested for the construction of new solition-typed solutions for certain NLEEs. Illustrative examples are presented for several equations of current interest in the physical sciences, i.e., the (2+1)-dimensional breaking solition equation, the (3+1)-dimensional generalized shallow water wave equation, and the coupled set of the (2+1)-dimensional integrable dispersive long wave equations.

Abstract:We present a new method to find the exact travelling wave solutions of nonlinear evolution equations, with the aid of the symbolic computation. Based on this method, we successfully solve the modified Benjamin–Bona–Mahoney equation, and obtain some new solutions which can be expressed by trigonometric functions and hyperbolic functions. It is shown that the proposed method is direct, effective and can be used for many other nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics.

Abstract:In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the (G′/G)-expansion method by seeking more exact solutions of the SRLW equation, the (2+1) dimensional PKP equation and the (3+1) dimensional potential-YTSF equation. By the method, the two nonlinear evolution equations are separately reduced to non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODE) by using a simple transformation. As a result, the traveling wave solutions are obtained in three arbitrary functions including hyperbolic function solutions, trigonometric function solutions and rational solutions. When the parameters are taken as special values, we also obtain the soliton solutions of the fifth-order Kdv equation. The method appears to be easier and faster by means of a symbolic computation system.

Abstract:The hyperbolic function method for nonlinear wave equations is presented. In support of a computer algebra system, many exact solitary wave solutions of a class of nonlinear wave equations are obtained via the method. The method is based on the fact that the solitary wave solutions are essentially of a localized nature. Writing the solitary wave solutions of a nonlinear wave equation as the polynomials of hyperbolic functions, the nonlinear wave equation can be changed into a nonlinear system of algebraic equations. The system can be solved via Wu Elimination or Gröbner base method. The exact solitary wave solutions of the nonlinear wave equation are obtained including many new exact solitary wave solutions.

Abstract:With the aid of nonlinear transformations, and using the symbolic manipulation system, the exact solitary wave and soliton solutions to a fifth order nonlinear evolution equation with general coefficients are obtained, and the corresponding sufficient conditions that the equation admits of these type of solutions are given. From the results one can see how the apparently changes in the coefficients would effect the solutions.

Abstract:Based on symbolic computation and an ansatz, we present a constructive algorithm to seek rogue wave and lump solutions for nonlinear evolution equations. As illustrative examples, we consider the potential-YTSF equation and a variable coefficient KP equation, and obtain nonsingular rational solutions of the two equations. The solutions can be rogue wave or lump solutions under different parameter conditions. We also present graphic illustration of some special solutions which would help better understand the evolution of solution waves.

Abstract:The tanh function expansion method for finding traveling solitary wave solutions to coupled nonlinear evolution equations is described. A complete implementation RATHS written in Maple is presented, in which the operator mains can output exact solitary wave solutions entirely automatically. Furthermore, RATHS can handle any number of dependent variables ui as well as any number of independent variables xj contained in the input system. This package can also be applied to ODEs. The effectiveness of RATHS is illustrated by applying it to a variety of equations.
