Abstract:Using the previously shared Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen pairs, a proposal which can be used to distribute a quantum key and identify the user's identification simultaneously is presented. In this scheme, two local unitary operations and the Bell state measurement are used. Combined with quantum memories, a cryptographic network is proposed. One advantage is no classical communication is needed, which make the scheme more secure. The secure analysis of this scheme is shown.

Abstract:For more than a decade, it was believed that unconditionally secure quantum bit commitment (QBC) is impossible. But basing on a previously proposed quantum key distribution scheme using orthogonal states, here we build a QBC protocol in which the density matrices of the quantum states encoding the commitment do not satisfy a crucial condition on which the no-go proofs of QBC are based. Thus the no-go proofs could be evaded. Our protocol is fault-tolerant and very feasible with currently available technology. It reopens the venue for other "post-cold-war" multi-party cryptographic protocols, e.g., quantum bit string commitment and quantum strong coin tossing with an arbitrarily small bias. This result also has a strong influence on the Clifton-Bub-Halvorson theorem which suggests that quantum theory could be characterized in terms of information-theoretic constraints.

Abstract:The general conditions for the orthogonal product states of the multi-state systems to be used in quantum key distribution (QKD) are proposed, and a novel QKD scheme with orthogonal product states in the 3x3 Hilbert space is presented. We show that this protocol has many distinct features such as great capacity, high efficiency. The generalization to nxn systems is also discussed and a fancy limitation for the eavesdropper's success probability is reached.

Abstract:The authors call attention to previous work with related result, a quantum-key-distribution scheme based on partial unknown entanglement with Wigner's inequality to establish the security of the quantum channel. The sender chooses any entangled state from a certain set or its equivalent state randomly, and sends a sequence of particles out of each pair to the receiver. The two users each choose between two measurements along the fixed axes. In fact, this is a quantum cryptosystem based on mixed entanglement. The main paper was published in Phys. Rev. A 64, 032305 (2001).

Abstract:A scheme of quantum authentication is presented. Two parties share Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pairs previously as the authentication key which servers as encoder and decoder. The authentication is accomplished with local controlled-NOT operations and unitary rotations. It is shown that our scheme is secure even in the presence of an eavesdropper who has complete control over both classical and quantum channels. Another character of this protocol is that the EPR sources are reusable. The robustness of this protocol is also discussed.

Abstract:Two orthogonal-state-based protocols of quantum key agreement (QKA) are proposed. The first protocol of QKA proposed here is designed for two-party QKA, whereas the second protocol is designed for multi-party QKA. Security of these orthogonal-state-based protocols arise from monogamy of entanglement. This is in contrast to the existing protocols of QKA where security arises from the use of non-orthogonal state (non-commutativity principle). Further, it is shown that all the quantum systems that are useful for implementation of quantum dialogue and most of the protocols of secure direct quantum communication can be modified to implement protocols of QKA.

Abstract:A class of quantum protocols of bit commitment is constructed based on the nonorthogonal states coding and the correlation immunity of some Boolean functions. The binding condition of these protocols is guaranteed mainly by the law of causality and the concealing condition is guaranteed by the indistinguishability between nonorthogonal quantum states and the correlation immunity of Boolean functions. We also give out an oblivious transfer protocol based on two-nonorthogonal states coding and build a bit commitment protocol on top of it. The relationship between these protocols and the well known no-go theorem is also discussed in details.

Abstract:The initialization of a quantum system into a certain state is a crucial aspect of quantum information science. While a variety of measurement strategies have been developed to characterize how well the system is initialized, for a given one, there is in general a trade-off between its efficiency and the accessible information of the quantum state. Conventional quantum state tomography can characterize unknown states while requiring exponentially expensive time-consuming postprocessing. Alternatively, recent theoretical breakthroughs show that quantum state verification provides a technique to quantify the prepared state with significantly fewer samples, especially for multipartite entangled states. In this Letter, we modify the original proposal to be robust to practical imperfections, and experimentally implement a scalable quantum state verification on two-qubit and four-qubit entangled states with nonadaptive local measurements. For all the tested states, the estimated infidelity is inversely proportional to the number of samples, which illustrates the power to characterize a quantum state with a small number of samples. Compared to the globally optimal strategy which requires nonlocal measurements, the efficiency in our experiment is only worse by a small constant factor (<2.5). We compare the performance difference between quantum state verification and quantum state tomography in an experiment to characterize a four-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state, and the results indicate the advantage of quantum state verification in both the achieved efficiency and precision.

Abstract:With the advancement of the new generation of information technology in recent years, quantum digital signatures have been widely concerned. Among them, quantum threshold group signatures have become a hot research field due to their advantages such as low cost and strong scalability. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an identity-verifiable quantum threshold group signature scheme based on three-particle GHZ states. The characteristics of the scheme are as follows. The signers can reconstruct the key K for signature's generation and verification by using the Shamir threshold secret sharing scheme. A quantum signature is generated by performing controlled-not operations, von Neumann measurements, and quantum Fourier transform. When the signature is verified, only classical hash values need to be compared, without comparing quantum states. Identity verification is performed between participants by using hash functions. The efficiency of the scheme is improved by using super-dense coding. Security analysis shows that our scheme is unforgeable and undeniable.

Abstract:Entanglement plays an indispensable role in numerous quantum information and quantum computation tasks, underscoring the need for efficiently verifying entangled states. In recent years, quantum state verification has received increasing attention, yet the challenge of addressing noise effects in implementing this approach remains unsolved. In this work, we provide a systematic assessment of the performance of quantum state verification protocols in the presence of measurement noise. Based on the analysis, a necessary and sufficient condition is provided to uniquely identify the target state under noisy measurements. Moreover, we propose a symmetric hypothesis testing verification algorithm with noisy measurements. Subsequently, using a noisy nonadaptive verification strategy of GHZ and stabilizer states, the noise effects on the verification efficiency are illustrated. From both analytical and numerical perspectives, we demonstrate that the noisy verification protocol exhibits a negative quadratic relationship between the sample complexity and the infidelity. Our method can be easily applied to real experimental settings, thereby demonstrating its promising prospects.

Abstract:In the domain of quantum cryptography, the implementation of quantum secret sharing stands as a pivotal element. In this paper, we propose a novel verifiable quantum secret sharing protocol using the -dimensional product state and Lagrange interpolation techniques. This protocol is initiated by the dealer Alice, who initially prepares a quantum product state, selected from a predefined set of orthogonal product states within the framework. Subsequently, the participants execute unitary operations on this product state to recover the underlying secret. Furthermore, we subject the protocol to a rigorous security analysis, considering both eavesdropping attacks and potential dishonesty from the participants. Finally, we conduct a comparative analysis of our protocol against existing schemes. Our scheme exhibits economies of scale by exclusively employing quantum product states, thereby realizing significant cost-efficiency advantages. In terms of access structure, we adopt an -threshold architecture, a strategic choice that augments the protocol's practicality and suitability for diverse applications. Furthermore, our protocol includes a rigorous integrity verification mechanism to ensure the honesty and reliability of participants throughout the execution of the protocol.

Abstract:The security of most quantum signatures cannot be proved with security model under chosen-message attack. No formal proof can prove that their security is fully dependent on the basic quantum theory. Based on the orthogonal quantum state and key-controlled quantum hash function, an arbitrated quantum signature is proposed. In this scheme, the signatory produces the quantum signature by quantum-encrypting the output of key-controlled quantum hash function. The signature verification is performed by decrypting the signed message and comparing the decrypted message with the output of the key-controlled quantum hash function. The security of the proposed scheme depends on the indistinguishability of the unknown quantum sequence. Its unforgeability can be formally proved with security model under chosen-message attack. Therefore, its security can be supported by the formal proof. On the other hand, in the proposed scheme, no entangled state is used. It also has better qubit efficiency as well.

Abstract:We propose a new quantum key distribution scheme that is based on the optimum expectation values of maximally entangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states. Our protocol makes use of the degrees of freedom in continuously variable angles, thereby increasing the security of the key distribution. Outlined are two protocols that distribute a key from Alice to Bob using the above idea, followed by an extension that allows for the same key to be shared with Charlie. We show how this scheme provides for certain detection of any eavesdropper through absolute violation rather than the probabilistic violation used in many protocols.

Abstract:<p>A quantum deniable authentication protocol based on the theory of continuous quantum by using two-mode squeezed quantum states is proposed. By introducing the key agreement mechanism, the message sender and the specified receiver will first agree a new shared secret key by key update phases without the help of a third center and without their interaction by utilizing the amplitude and the phase properties of the entangled optical modes, and then the sender generates the message authentication code by using the new shared secret key. Security analysis results show that the protocol satisfies the basic security requirements of deniable authentication protocol such as completeness and deniability, and can withstand forgery attack, impersonation attack, inter-resend attack and beam splitter attack.</p>

Abstract:We propose a prepare-and-measure scheme for quantum key distribution with two-qubit quantum codes. The protocol is unconditionally secure under all types of intercept-and-resend attack. Given the symmetric and independent errors to the transmitted qubits, our scheme can tolerate a bit of an error rate up to 26% in four-state protocol and 30% in six-state protocol, respectively. These values are higher than all currently known threshold values for the prepare-and-measure protocols. Moreover, we give a practically implementable linear optics realization for our scheme.

Abstract:Bipartite and multipartite entangled states are basic ingredients for constructing quantum networks and their accurate verification is crucial to the functioning of the networks, especially for untrusted networks. Here we propose a simple approach for verifying the Bell state in an untrusted network in which one party is not honest. Only local projective measurements are required for the honest party. It turns out each verification protocol is tied to a probability distribution on the Bloch sphere and its performance has an intuitive geometric meaning. This geometric picture enables us to construct the optimal and simplest verification protocols, which are also very useful to detecting entanglement in the untrusted network. Moreover, we show that our verification protocols can achieve almost the same sample efficiencies as protocols tailored to standard quantum state verification. Furthermore, we establish an intimate connection between the verification of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states and the verification of the Bell state. By virtue of this connection we construct the optimal protocol for verifying Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states and for detecting genuine multipartite entanglement.
A practically feasible entanglement assisted quantum key distribution protocol

Abstract:We give an entanglement assisted scheme for quantum key distribution. The scheme requires the maximally entangled 2-qubit state but does not require any quantum storage. The scheme is unconditionally secure under whatever Eve's attack. Given the symmetric noisy channel with uncorrelated noise, our scheme can tolerate the bit error rate up to 26% in the 4-state case and 30% in the 6-state respectively, respectively. These values are higher than those of all currently known two-level-state schemes without using a quantum storage.

Abstract:In quantum key distribution, secret randomness is extracted quantum-mechanically from two-sided local random choices of measurement bases. Subsequently, the public announcement of basis information is necessary to perform a security check and establish the key. Recent studies have demonstrated that, provided the basis information is accessible, even adversaries with limited computational power can readily compromise the key through side-channel attacks. In this paper, we propose a quantum key distribution scheme using entangled coherent states. The present scheme is based on the secure exchange of one-sided quantum randomness, thus obviating the necessity for basis-information announcement. This effectively closes the security loophole associated with access to basis information during side-channel attacks. The security of the present protocol has been verified against both local and global quantum attacks. Furthermore, the impact of high photon loss and an authentication scheme has been discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we first study the maximally commutative set in prime dimensional systems, which is a set of generalized Pauli matrices, and it can be used to detect the local discrimination of generalized Bell states. We give a simple characterization of prime dimensional maximally commutative sets, that is, a subset of a set of generalized Bell states, whose second subscript is a multiple of the first subscript. Furthermore, some sets of generalized Bell states which can be locally distinguishable by one-way local operation and classical communication (LOCC) are constructed by using the structural characteristics of prime dimensional maximally commutative sets. Based on these distinguishable generalized Bell states, we propose a ( t , n )-threshold quantum secret sharing scheme. Compared with the existing quantum secret sharing scheme, it can be found that there are enough distinguishable states to encode classical information in our scheme, the dealer only needs to send entangled particles once to make the participants get their secret share, which makes the secret sharing process more efficient than the existing schemes. Finally, we prove that this protocol is secure under dishonest participant attack, interception-and-resend attack and entangle-and-measure attack.
