Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of interleukin-6 (IL-6) on cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection during pregnancy. Methods: The specimens were taken from the blood of 305 pregnant women Among them, milk, blood and neonatal urine were taken from 48 women who were infected with CMV during pregnancy, within 2 weeks after delivery, maternal milk and blood were taken from 68 women who were not infected with CMV during pregnancy within 2 weeks after delivery of CMV IgM and DNA in blood, CMV DNA in milk and urine were detected to determine the concentration of IL-6 in the blood. Results: The concentration of IL-6 in blood was significantly higher in CMV infection, CMV transmission to fetus or milk was higher than that did not transmit CMV (P<0.05). Conclusion: IL-6 is involved in CMV infection during pregnancy and CMV is transmitted from the mother to fetus and milk.
