Study on Effection of Nutritional Indexes on Maximal Respiratory Muscle Strength in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between nutritional status and respiratory mu scle strength in patients with chron ic ob-structive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Nutrition comdition of 40patients with COPD were assessed meanwhile maximal inspiratory pressure(MIP)and maximal expiratory pressure(MEP)were detected in COPD and control gro up.Results MIP and MEP of COPD were lower than that of normal group and significantly correlation between ma ximal respiratory muscle strength a nd some nutritional indexes(P0.05～0.01).Conclusion The respiratory muscle strength whi ch decreases in COPD bears a close relationship to nutritional status.
