Abstract:A series of polyethylene glycol polyurethane (PEG-PU)/NaClO4 complexes were prepared and their properties and morphology were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The results showed that salt concentration significantly influenced the morphology, glass transition temperature and thermal decomposition temperature of PEG-PU/NaClO4 system. With the increase of salt concentration, thermal decomposition temperature of soft segment dropped, glass transition temperature of sample enhanced firstly, however, above a certain salt concentration, glass transition temperature of the system decreased. At low salt concentrations, the compatibility of the hard and soft segments of polyurethane improved apparently with the increase of salt concentration. When the molar ratio of the ether oxygen atom and sodium cation was about 12, the maximum compatibility of the system was achieved. With further increase of salt concentration, interaction between polymer and ion enhanced, which brought about the formation of new hard-segment aggregates.
