Abstract:NCS (networked control system) is a kind of feedback control systems wherein the control loops are closed through real-time control network. The existence of real-time network in the feedback control loop makes the analysis and design of an NCS complex. Conventional control theories must be reevaluated before they can be applied to NCS. Numerous research papers have investigated analysis and design of NCS from different angles. This paper aims to introduce state of arts of NCS and point out the field of further researches.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of robust stability analysis for networked control systems (NCSs). A new NCS model is proposed under consideration of both the network-induced delay and parameter uncertainties. The parameter uncertainties appearing in NCSs are norm-bounded, and possibly time-varying. The conventional method and the descriptor system method are used to obtain maximum allowable delay bound (MADB) guaranteeing robust stability and stability of the NCSs, respectively, where the stability criteria are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). And the MADB can be derived by solving the feasibility problem of the corresponding LMI. Some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:In view of control,the research background and contents on the networked control systems based of field bus are introduced in this paper.Networked control systems is a discipline as the combination of network and control science which covers a wide subjects.First,the three mathematic models of networked control systems are discussed, which consist of short network-induced delay with the controller time or event driven,and long network-induced delay with the controller event driven.Second,the mean value controllability,mean square controllability, mean value observability and mean square observability of networked control systems are analyzed. Third,several methods of controller design under the conditions of networked systems are intrduced.Finally.a further discussion on performance improvement of networked control systems in the furture is proposed.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problems of asymptotic stability and finite-time stability (FTS) analysis, along with the state feedback controller design for networked control systems (NCSs) with consideration of both network-induced delay and packet dropout. The closed-loop NCS is modeled as a discrete-time linear system with a time-varying, bounded state delay. Sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability and the FTS of the closed-loop NCS are provided, respectively. Based on the stability analysis results, a mixed controller design method, which guarantees the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop NCS in the usual case and the FTS of the closed-loop NCS in the unusual case (that is, in some particular time intervals, large state delay occurs), is presented. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed mixed controller design method.
Controllability analysis of Networked Control Systems with packets loss

Abstract:The problem of controllability and control strategy for a class of Networked Control Systems (NCSs) with packets loss are studied in this paper. A probabilistic controllability conception is proposed for these systems. In order to analyze the probabilistic controllability and relevant properties, a representation of the initial state by a group of constructive base of linear space is introduced. Based on this representation the affects to control system caused by packets loss can be expressed by system substates. A control strategy is developed to guarantee, the controllability of NCSs, and the minimum control steps property of this control strategy is discussed as well. Finally, a necessary and sufficient condition of probabilistic controllability for NCSs with packets loss is represented. © 2013 TCCT, CAA.

Abstract:At present, the distribution of a control system based on a network is a "hot" research subject in the field of process control. This paper designs and implements a network-based process control system, which possesses functions such as remote control, clock synchronization, and a friendly man-machine interface. Simulation results over a university campus network confirm that the network-based control system is feasible and effective.

Abstract:This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the current state of research in the area of Networked control systems (NCSs) first. Then two modeling and control methods are introduced for NCSs in details. The first one is a stochastic control method, which investigates the H∞ control problem for NCSs with random network-induced delay. The second one is a switch control method, which focuses on solving the stabilization problem for NCSs in discrete-time domain, where both network-induced delay and packet dropout are taken into account. Illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. Finally, this paper concludes with the discussion of possible future development of NCSs from a control perspective.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel control strategy based on network for power electronics system. The definition of networked control is presented in control through network and control of network. According to the actual situation of power electronics, network selection and communication mechanism are presented. By means of the communication cell, standardized data stream of control loop and characteristics of network- induced delay through communication, some concepts of control through network is described. After the rough estimation of network-induced delay of all kinds of network during the transmission process for data of power electronics, the strategies of networked control for power electronic systems are presented by different MAC and topologies, which embody the essence of control of network.

Abstract:Performance analysis is an integral part in the development of a networked control system (NCS) since it answers the key question of whether the resulting quality of control (QoC) fulfills its requirements. It is also difficult to analytically quantify the impacts of CPU and network constraints on QoC of NCS. In present work, a simulation-based approach to performance analysis of NCSs subject to CPU and network constraints is proposed, in a manner of integrating scheduling, communication and control. The characteristics of control loop timing are presented as a combination of computational delay and communication delay. A numerical example involving DC servo problems is employed to illustrate our simulation-based approach. How CPU and network constraints, based on different scheduling schemes and network protocols, affect the control performance is shown. Simulation results and analysis give valuable suggests for NCS design.

Abstract:This paper considers joint problems of control and communication in wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs) for building-environment control systems. In traditional control systems, centralized control (CC) and distributed control (DC) are two major approaches. However, little work has been done in comparing the two approaches in joint problems of control and communication, particularly in WSANs serving as components of control loops. In this paper, we develop a CC scheme in which control decisions are made based on global information and a DC scheme which enables distributed actuators to make control decisions locally. We also develop methods that enable wireless communications among system devices compatible with the control strategies, and propose a method for reducing packet-loss rate. We compare the two schemes using simulations in many aspects. Simulation results show that the DC can achieve a comparable control performance of the CC, while the DC is more robust against packet loss and has lower computational complexity than the CC. Furthermore, the DC has shorter actuation latency than the CC under certain conditions.

Abstract:Networked control systems (NCSs) is drawn a lot of attention recently. A new method is proposed in this paper, which involves the predictive control algorithm. A queuing strategy is presented for coping with the networked delay, so that NCSs can be stabilized and achieve quite a good dynamic performance for both linear and nonlinear plants. The advantages of this method are (1) no need to redesign the existed predictive controllers; (2) no requirement of clock synchronization; (3) only slight influence of bad network condition such as package loss. Simulations and experiments are designed to show these advantages

Abstract:Networked control systems (NCSs) have been one of the main research focuses in academia as well as in industry for many decades and have become a multidisciplinary area. With these growing research trends, it is important to consolidate the latest knowledge and information to keep up with the research needs. In this paper, the NCS and its different forms are introduced and discussed. The beginning of this paper discusses the history and evolution of NCSs. The next part of this paper focuses on different fields and research arenas such as networking technology, network delay, network resource allocation, scheduling, network security in real-time NCSs, integration of components on a network, fault tolerance, etc. A brief literature survey and possible future direction concerning each topic is included.

Abstract:There is a strong trend in modern industrial systems to integrate computation, communication, and control theories into networked control systems (NCSs). This is anticipated to be the next wave in the information technology revolution. From a control perspective, the interdisciplinary relationship between computation, communication and control is illustrated through control loop timing analysis of NCSs. Critical issues in the emerging field of integrated computation, communication and control (ICCC) are discussed. Since it is difficult to analytically quantify the impacts of computation and communication constraints on the quality of control (QoC), a simulation-based approach is proposed. A numerical example of networked DC motor control is utilized in simulations, with different scheduling schemes and communication protocols employed. Results and analysis give valuable suggests for improving the control performance of NCSs which feature the integration of control with computation and communication.

Abstract:With the rapid development of sensing, information processing, and communication technologies, the research in the emerging area of networked control systems (NCSs) has attracted considerable attention in the research community. The purpose of this survey is to provide a review of the state-of-the-art of such research. We particularly discuss various network conditions required for different control purposes, such as the minimum rate coding for stabilizability of linear systems in the presence of time-varying channel capacity, the critical packet loss condition for stability of the Kalman filter with intermittent observations, network topology for coordination of networked multi-agent systems, as well as event-based sampling for energy and communication efficiency. The common goal of discussion on these topics is to reveal the effect of the communication network on the operation of the networked systems.

Abstract:This paper presents a theoretical model of control and communication over wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs). We propose two control schemes, a centralized control scheme (CC) in which decisions are made based on global information, and a distributed control scheme (DC) that enables distributed actuators to make decisions locally. Because of global information, CC can obtain optimal control at each step. However, when that information is delivered over lossy wireless channels, it could become unstable. It is demonstrated by simulations that DC could also stabilize the control system analogously with the CC, though with more steps.
