Abstract:This paper presents a model CAL4Q for computation of CO and NOx concentrations near signalized intersection in Chinese cities. The model use free flow link and queue link to describe the traffic flow emissions. Formulas for emission source strength and queue length of traffic link are presented. The adjustment factors of bicycles and pedestrians are considered and average delay formulas of the 1994 Highway Capacity Manual are used. The dispersion component of CAL4Q is CALINE4. The algorithm of computer program for the model is also given. CAL4Q is verified by a field experiment at intersection. The calculated and measured concentrations of CO and NOx are compared. The results of linear least-square regression analysis is good.

Simulation on Concentrations of Gas Pollutants from Motor Vehicles Near Signalized Intersection in Chinese City
