This paper presents a sufficient condition for the subcategory P-i((sic)) of mod (sic) to be contravariantly finite in mod (sic), where P-i((sic)) is the subcategory of mod (sic) consisting of (sic)-modules of projective dimension less than or equal to i. As an application of this condition it is shown that P-i((sic)) is contravariantly finite in mod (sic) for each i when (sic) is stably equivalent to a hereditary algebra.

Abstract:Given a non-negative integer n and a complete hereditary cotorsion triple , the notion of subcategories in an abelian category is introduced. It is proved that a virtually Gorenstein ring R is n-Gorenstein if and only if the subcategory of Gorenstein injective R-modules is with respect to the cotorsion triple , where stands for the subcategory of Gorenstein projectives. In the case when a subcategory of is closed under direct summands such that each object in admits a right -approximation, a Bazzoni characterization is given for to be . Finally, an Auslander–Reiten correspondence is established between the class of subcategories and that of certain subcategories of which are -coresolving covariantly finite and closed under direct summands.

Abstract:Abstract The main theme of this paper is to study $\tau $ -tilting subcategories in an abelian category $\mathscr {A}$ with enough projective objects. We introduce the notion of $\tau $ -cotorsion torsion triples and investigate a bijection between the collection of $\tau $ -cotorsion torsion triples in $\mathscr {A}$ and the collection of support $\tau $ -tilting subcategories of $\mathscr {A}$ , generalizing the bijection by Bauer, Botnan, Oppermann, and Steen between the collection of cotorsion torsion triples and the collection of tilting subcategories of $\mathscr {A}$ . General definitions and results are exemplified using persistent modules. If $\mathscr {A}=\mathrm{Mod}\mbox {-}R$ , where R is a unitary associative ring, we characterize all support $\tau $ -tilting (resp. all support $\tau ^-$ -tilting) subcategories of $\mathrm{Mod}\mbox {-}R$ in terms of finendo quasitilting (resp. quasicotilting) modules. As a result, it will be shown that every silting module (resp. every cosilting module) induces a support $\tau $ -tilting (resp. support $\tau ^{-}$ -tilting) subcategory of $\mathrm{Mod}\mbox {-}R$ . We also study the theory in $\mathrm {Rep}(Q, \mathscr {A})$ , where Q is a finite and acyclic quiver. In particular, we give an algorithm to construct support $\tau $ -tilting subcategories in $\mathrm {Rep}(Q, \mathscr {A})$ from certain support $\tau $ -tilting subcategories of $\mathscr {A}$ .

Abstract:In extended hearts of bounded $t$-structures on a triangulated category, we provide a Happel-Reiten-Smalo tilting theorem and a characterization for $s$-torsion pairs. Applying these to $m$-extended module categories, we characterize torsion pairs induced by $(m+1)$-term silting complexes. After establishing Auslander-Reiten theory in extended module categories, we introduce $\tau_{[m]}$-tilting pairs and show bijections between $\tau_{[m]}$-tilting pairs, $(m+1)$-term silting complexes, and functorially finite $s$-torsion pairs.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors introduce a new definition of ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories with infinite projective dimensions (resp. injective dimensions) in an extriangulated category. They give a Bazzoni characterization of ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories. Also, they obtain a partial Auslander-Reiten correspondence between ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories and coresolving (resp. resolving) subcategories with an -projective generator (resp. -injective cogenerator) in an extriangulated category.

Abstract:Let (F, G) be an adjoint pair from a category A to a category B. The contravariantly finiteness of subcategories is proved to be preserved by F, and the covariantly finiteness of subcategories is preserved by F under some additional conditions. If A and B are length categories, G(Im (F)) = Im (G), and F is full, then the inclusion i : Im (F) hooked right arrow B has a right adjoint. This gives a partial answer to a question posed by Auslander and Reiten in [2].

Abstract:Let Λ be Artin algebra, partial tilting module is defined by projective dimension less than 1 and the first tensor equals to 0. Then a module is the middle term of a short chain equaling to lying in a short cycle, which can be used to prove some theorems of partial tilting modules. The main conclusion of this article is M and X are indecomposable modules in module categories without short cycles. If M is sincere module, then M is partial tilting module. Moreover, if there exists nonzero morphism from X to M, then X is also partial tilting module.
Universal Extensions and Ext-Orthogonal Complements of Torsion Classes

Abstract:We show that torsion pairs in Krull--Schmidt abelian categories induce an equivalence between the subcategory of torsion-free objects admitting universal extensions to the torsion subcategory, and a quotient of the ext-orthogonal complement of the torsion subcategory. This generalize an equivalence described by Bauer--Botnan--Oppermann--Steen for tilting-torsion pairs and by Buan--Zhou for functorially finite torsion pairs. The result also provides a more direct proof of the functorially finite case, not relying on the machinery of two-term silting complexes. We illustrate the equivalence in the special case of tube categories. After first appearing on the arXiv, the author learnt that the equivalence has previously been described by Demonet--Iyama.

Abstract:Let C be a triangulated category with shift functor [1] and R a rigid subcategory of C. We introduce the notions of two-term R[1]-rigid subcategories, two-term (weak) R[1]-cluster tilting subcategories and two-term maximal R[1]-rigid subcategories. Our main result shows that there exists a bijection between the set of two-term R[1]-rigid subcategories of C and the set of τ-rigid subcategories of modR, which induces a one-to-one correspondence between the set of two-term weak R[1]-cluster tilting subcategories of C and the set of support τ-tilting subcategories of modR. This generalizes the main results in [15] where R is a cluster tilting subcategory. When R is a silting subcategory, we prove that the two-term weak R[1]-cluster tilting subcategories are precisely two-term silting subcategories in [9]. Thus the bijection above induces the bijection given by Iyama-Jørgensen-Yang in [9].

Abstract:For a triangulated category C with a cluster tilting subcategory T which contains infinitely many indecomposable objects, the notion of weak T[1]-cluster tilting subcategories of C is introduced. We use them to study the tau-tilting theory in the module category over T. Inspired by the work of Iyama, Jorgensen and Yang (2014), we introduce the notion of tau-tilting subcategories of mod T, and show that there exists a bijection between weak T[1]-cluster tilting subcategories of C and support tau-tilting subcategories of mod T. Moreover, we describe the subcategories of mod T which correspond to cluster tilting subcategories of C. This generalizes and improves results by Adachi, Iyama and Reiten (2014), Beligiannis (2013), and Yang and Zhu (2019).

Abstract:In this paper we study categories of tilting modules. Our starting point is the tilting modules for a reductive algebraic group G in positive characteristic. Here we extend the main result in [8] by proving that these tilting modules form a (strictly object-adapted) cellular category. We use this result to specify a subset of cellular basis elements, which generates all morphisms in this category. In a different direction we generalize the earlier results to the case where G is replaced by the infinitesimal thickenings G_rT of a maximal torus T in G by the Frobenius subgroup schemes G_r. Here our procedure leads to a special set of generators for the morphisms in the category of projective G_rT- modules. Our methods are rather general (applying to "quasi hereditary like" categories). In particular, there are completely analogous results for tilting modules of quantum groups at roots of unity. As examples we treat the tilting modules in the ordinary BGG category O, and in the modular case we examine G = SL_2 in some details.

Abstract:Let E=(A,S) be an exact category with enough projectives P. We introduce the notion of support τ-tilting subcategories of E. It is compatible with the existing definitions of support τ-tilting modules (subcategories) in various contexts. It is also a generalization of tilting subcategories of exact categories. We show that there is a bijection between support τ-tilting subcategories and certain τ-cotorsion pairs. Given a support τ-tilting subcategory T, we find a subcategory ET of E which is an exact category and T is a tilting subcategory of ET. If E is Krull-Schmidt, we prove the cardinal |T| is equal to the number of isomorphism classes of indecomposable projectives Q such that HomE(Q,T)≠0. We also show a functorial version of Brenner-Butler's theorem.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an abelian length category containing a $d$-cluster tilting subcategory $\mathcal{M}$. We prove that a subcategory of $\mathcal{M}$ is a $d$-torsion class if and only if it is closed under $d$-extensions and $d$-quotients. This generalises an important result for classical torsion classes. As an application, we prove that the $d$-torsion classes in $\mathcal{M}$ form a complete lattice. Moreover, we use the characterisation to classify the $d$-torsion classes associated to higher Auslander algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$, and give an algorithm to compute them explicitly. The classification is furthermore extended to the setup of higher Nakayama algebras.

Abstract:Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an extriangulated category with enough projectives and injectives. We give a new definition of tilting subcategories of $\mathscr{C}$ and prove it coincides with the definition given in [19]. As applications, we introduce the notions of support $\tau$-tilting subcategories and $\tau$-cotorsion pairs of $\mathscr{C}$. We build a bijection between support $\tau$-tilting subcategories and certain $\tau$-cotorsion pairs. Moreover, this bijection induces a bijection between tilting subcategories and certain cotorsion pairs.

Filtrations of torsion classes in proper abelian subcategories

Abstract:In an abelian category $\mathscr{A}$, we can generate torsion pairs from tilting objects of projective dimension $\leq 1$. However, when we look at tilting objects of projective dimension $2$, there is no longer a natural choice of an associated torsion pair. Instead of trying to generate a torsion pair, Jensen, Madsen and Su generated a triple of extension closed classes that can filter any objects of $\mathscr{A}$. We generalize this result to proper abelian subcategories.

Abstract:We study infinite dimensional tilting modules over a concealed canonical algebra of domestic or tubular type. In the domestic case, such tilting modules are constructed by using the technique of universal localization, and they can be interpreted in terms of Gabriel localizations of the corresponding category of quasi-coherent sheaves over a noncommutative curve of genus zero. In the tubular case, we have to distinguish between tilting modules of rational and irrational slope. For rational slope the situation is analogous to the domestic case. In contrast, for any irrational slope, there is just one tilting module of that slope up to equivalence. We also provide a dual description of infinite dimensional cotilting modules and a classification result for the indecomposable pure-injective modules.

The rigidity of filtered colimits of n-cluster tilting subcategories

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be an artin algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ be an n-cluster tilting subcategory of $\Lambda$-mod with $n\ge 2$. From the viewpoint of higher homological algebra, a question that naturally arose in [17] is when $\mathcal{M}$ induces an n-cluster tilting subcategory of $\Lambda$-Mod. In this paper, we answer this question and explore its connection to Iyama's question on the finiteness of n-cluster tilting subcategories of $\Lambda$-mod. In fact, our theorem reformulates Iyama's question in terms of the vanishing of Ext; and highlights its relation with the rigidity of filtered colimits of $\mathcal{M}$. Also, we show that Add$(\mathcal{M})$ is an n-cluster tilting subcategory of $\Lambda$-Mod if and only if Add$(\mathcal{M})$ is a maximal n-rigid subcategory of $\Lambda$-Mod if and only if $\lbrace X\in \Lambda$-Mod$~|~ {\rm Ext}^i_{\Lambda}(\mathcal{M},X)=0 ~~~ {\rm for ~all}~ 0<i<n \rbrace \subseteq {\rm Add}(\mathcal{M})$ if and only if $\mathcal{M}$ is of finite type if and only if ${\rm Ext}_{\Lambda}^1({\underrightarrow{\lim}}\mathcal{M}, {\underrightarrow{\lim}}\mathcal{M})=0$. Moreover, we present several equivalent conditions for Iyama's question which shows the relation of Iyama's question with different subjects in representation theory such as purity and covering theory.

Abstract:Let (C, E, s) be an extriangulated category. We show that certain quotient categories of extriangulated categories are equivalent to module categories by some restriction of functor E, and in some cases, they are abelian. This result can be regarded as a simultaneous generalization of Koenig-Zhu [KZ] and Demonet-Liu [DL]. In addition, we introduce the notion of maximal rigid subcategories in extriangulated categories. Cluster tilting subcategories are obviously strongly functorially finite maximal rigid subcategories, we prove that the converse is true if the 2-Calabi-Yau extriangulated categories admit a cluster tilting subcategories, which generalizes a result of Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott [BIRS] and Zhou-Zhu [ZZ].
