Abstract:It is proved that a homeomorphism on a compact metric space with the average-shadowing property has only one chain component which is the whole space. In particular, every point is chain recurrent. Using this result it is given a short proof for a recent theorem of Sakai.

Abstract:Let $\left(X_n, d_n\right)$ be a sequence of metric spaces and let $\mathcal{F}=\left\{f_n\right\}_{n \in \mathbb{Z}}$ be a sequence of continuous and onto maps $f_n: X_n \rightarrow X_{n+1}, n \in \mathbb{Z}_{+}$. In this paper, we prove that if the compression ratio meets $\prod \lambda_i=0$, then there exists $\delta_n>0$ such that any $\delta_n$ - pseudo-orbit $\left\{x_n\right\}_{n \in \mathbb{Z}}$ is $\varepsilon$ - shadowed by a unique point $x \in X_0$. For the asymptotic average shadowing property, we prove that if $\left.\mathcal{F}\right|_A$ has asymptotically average shadowing property, then $\mathcal{F}$ also has a asymptotically average shadowing propertywhen a density-related condition is satisfied. Additionally, the conclusion that the shadowing performance of strong equicontinuity and pseudo-shadowing property implies limit shadowing is also obtained. Furthermore, the shadowing property of non-autonomous product space is also discussed.

Abstract:We prove that every singular hyperbolic chain transitive set with a singularity does not admit the shadowing property. Using this result we show that if a star flow has the shadowing property on its chain recurrent set then it satisfies Axiom A and the no-cycle conditions; and that if a multisingular hyperbolic set has the shadowing property then it is hyperbolic.

Abstract:We provide an alternative view of some results in [1, 3, 11]. In particular, we prove that (1) if a continuous self-map of a compact metric space has the shadowing, then the union of the basins of terminal chain components is a dense $G_\delta$-subset of the space; and (2) if a continuous self-map of a locally connected compact metric space has the shadowing, and if the chain recurrent set is totally disconnected, then the map is almost chain continuous.

Abstract:For topological dynamical systems defined by continuous self-maps of compact metric spaces, we consider the contractive shadowing property, i.e., the Lipschitz shadowing property such that the Lipschitz constant is less than 1. We prove some basic properties of contractive shadowing and show that non-degenerate homeomorphisms do not have the contractive shadowing property. Then, we consider the case of ultrametric spaces. We also discuss the spectral decomposition of the chain recurrent set under the assumption of contractive shadowing. Several examples are given to illustrate the results.

Abstract:We propose a novel unifying approach to study the shadowing property for a broad class of dynamical systems (in particular, discontinuous and non-invertible) under a variety of perturbations. In distinction to known constructions, our approach is local: it is based on the gluing property which takes into account the shadowing under a single (not necessarily small) perturbation.

Abstract:We prove that when f is a continuous selfmap acting on compact metric space (X,d) which satisfies the shadowing property, then the set of irregular points (i.e. points with divergent Birkhoff averages) has full entropy. Using this fact we prove that in the class of C^0-generic maps on manifolds, we can only observe (in the sense of Lebesgue measure) points with convergant Birkhoff averages. In particular, the time average of atomic measures along orbit of such points converges to some SRB-like measure in the weak^* topology. Moreover, such points carry zero entropy. In contrast, irregular points are non-observable but carry infinite entropy.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore a topological system f:M→M with asymptotic average shadowing property and extend Sigmund's results from Bowen's specification case. We show that every non-empty, compact and connected subset V⊆Minv(f) coincides with some Vf(y). Moreover, we show that the set MV={y∈M:Vf(y)=V} is dense in ΔV=⋃ν∈Vsupp(ν)¯. In particular, if Δmax=⋃ν∈Minv(f)supp(ν)¯ coincides with M, then Mmax={y:Vf(y)=Minv(f)} is residual in M. As consequences, we have several corollaries. One is that every invariant measure has generic points. Another is that the set consisting of those points for which the Birkhoff ergodic average does not exist (called irregular set) is either dense in Δmax (residual provided that Δmax=M) or empty. In particular, we give an uncountable division of irregular set and obtain a refined characterization which can be as a substantial generalization of [18] with a different method. Remark that for systems with asymptotic average shadowing property, this article studies Birkhoff ergodic average from topological viewpoint but it is still unknown how about the theory from the perspective of dimension theory.

Abstract:We establish the equivalence between the asymptotic average shadowing and the vague specification properties and we use this equivalence to answer a question posed by Downarowicz and Weiss [Ergod. Th. \& Dynam. Sys. 44 (9) (2024), 2565-2580]. Additionally, we prove that the asymptotic average shadowing property is equivalent to the average shadowing property if the phase space is complete with respect to the dynamical Besicovitch pseudometric. We use the latter result to prove that proximal and minimal shift spaces from [Minimal and proximal examples of $\bar{d}$-stable and $\bar{d}$-approachable shift spaces, Ergod. Th. \& Dynam. Sys., (2024) First View] possess the asymptotic average shadowing property.

Shadowing, average shadowing and transitive properties of multiple mappings

Abstract:In 2016, Hou and Wang introduced the concept of multiple mappings based on iterated function system, which is an important branch of fractal theory. In this paper, we introduce the definitions of shadowing, average shadowing, transitive, weakly mixing, mixing, chain transitive and chain mixing properties of multiple mappings from a set-valued perspective. We show that both two continuous self-maps have shadowing (respectively, average shadowing, transitive, weakly mixing, mixing) property may not imply the multiple mappings they form has the corresponding property. While a sufficient condition for multiple mappings to be transitive (respective, weakly mixing, mixing, chain transitive, chain mixing) is given. Both shadowing and average shadowing properties are invariant under the iterative action of multiple mappings. Also, we study that for multiple mappings shadowing property plus chain mixing implies mixing and average shadowing properties implies chain transitivity.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:We introduce topological definitions of strong chain transitivity and we prove that topological average shadowing and topological pseudo-orbital specification each imply topological strong chain transitivity. Furthermore, we introduce the notion of the topological Lipschitz property and we show that it is a sufficient condition for the coincidence of the strong chain recurrent set of a dynamical system and its iterations.

Using tent map as an example it is proved that, in contrast to what happens for standard shadowing, there are significantly non-uniformly hyperbolic systems that satisfy stochastic shadowing property.

Abstract:In this note we study some properties of topological entropy for non-compact non-metrizable spaces. We prove that if a uniformly continuous self-map $f$ of a uniform space has topological shadowing property then the map $f$ has positive uniform entropy, which extends the similar known result for homeomorphisms on compact metric spaces having shadowing property.

Abstract:The concept referred to as the measure shadowing property for a dynamical system on compact metric space has recently been introduced, acting as an extension of the classical shadowing property by using the property of the Borel measures on the phase space. In this paper, we extend the concept of the measure shadowing property of continuous flows from compact metric spaces to the general metric spaces and demonstrate the equivalence relation between the measure shadowing property and the shadowing property for flows on metric spaces via the shadowable points.

Abstract: In this paper, we explore a topological system $f:M\rightarrow M$ with average shadowing property. We extend Sigmund's results and show that every non-empty, compact and connected subset $V\subseteq\mathcal {M}_{inv}(f)$ coincides with $V_f(y)$, where $\mathcal {M}_{inv}(f)$ denotes the space of invariant Borel probability measures on M, and $V_f(y)$ denotes the accumulation set of time average of Dirac measures supported at the orbit of $y$. We also show that the set $M_{V}=\{y\in M\,\,|\,\,V_{f}(y)=V\}$ is dense in $\Delta_{V}=\bigcup_{\nu\in V}supp(\nu)$. In particular, if $\Delta_{max}=\bigcup_{\nu\in\mathcal {M}_{inv}(f)}supp(\nu)$ is isolated or coincides with $M$, then $M_{max}=\{y: V_{f}(y)=\mathcal {M}_{inv}(f)\}$ is residual in $\Delta_{max}$.

Abstract:We consider a hyperbolic ergodic measure of a C1 flow on a compact manifold. Under the hypothesis that there are no fixed points and that the Oseledec splitting of the normal bundle satisfies a limit domination property, we prove that the measure has a shadowing property. As an application of this result we prove that the measure can be approached on the weak⁎ topology by measures supported on hyperbolic periodic orbits.

Abstract:We consider some local entropy properties of dynamical systems under the assumption of shadowing. In the first part, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for shadowable points to be certain entropy points. In the second part, we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for (non) h-expansiveness under the assumption of shadowing and chain transitivity; and use the result to present a counter-example for a question raised by Artigue et al. [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 150 (2022), 3369-3378].

Abstract:In this paper, we study stochastic stability of a dynamical system with shadowing property, which evolves under small random perturbation. We prove that time averages along the pseudo-trajectory converge with respect to stationary measure for the randomly perturbed dynamics. In particular, we prove that stationary measures converge to physical measures when the noise level goes to zero if dynamical system has a shadowing property.

Abstract:We prove a shadowing lemma for nonuniformly hyperbolic maps in Hilbert spaces. As applications, we firstly prove that the positive Lyapunov exponents of a hyperbolic ergodic measure μ can be approximated by positive Lyapunov exponents of atomic measures on hyperbolic periodic orbits; secondly, give an upper estimation of metric entropy by using the exponential growth rate of the number of such periodic points that their atomic measures approximate μ and their positive Lyapunov exponents approximate the positive Lyapunov exponents of μ.

Abstract:We study shift spaces over a finite alphabet that can be approximated by mixing shifts of finite type in the sense of (pseudo)metrics connected to Ornstein's metric ( -approachable shift spaces). The class of -approachable shifts can be considered as a topological analog of measure-theoretical Bernoulli systems. The notion of -approachability, together with a closely connected notion of -shadowing, was introduced by Konieczny, Kupsa, and Kwietniak [Ergod. Th. & Dynam. Sys.43(3) (2023), 943–970]. These notions were developed with the aim of significantly generalizing specification properties. Indeed, many popular variants of the specification property, including the classic one and the almost/weak specification property, ensure -approachability and -shadowing. Here, we study further properties and connections between -shadowing and -approachability. We prove that -shadowing implies -stability (a notion recently introduced by Tim Austin). We show that for surjective shift spaces with the -shadowing property the Hausdorff pseudodistance between shift spaces induced by is the same as the Hausdorff distance between their simplices of invariant measures with respect to the Hausdorff distance induced by Ornstein's metric between measures. We prove that without -shadowing this need not to be true (it is known that the former distance always bounds the latter). We provide examples illustrating these results, including minimal examples and proximal examples of shift spaces with the -shadowing property. The existence of such shift spaces was announced in the earlier paper mentioned above. It shows that -shadowing indeed generalizes the specification property.
