Abstract:Intelligent vehicles are an application in which the words "intelligent autonomous systems" represent not only an important research topic but also a strategic solution to the mobility problems that may arise in the coming years. Vehicles that can move autonomously and navigate in everyday traffic, on highways, and in urban and unstructured scenarios will become a reality in the next few decades. Besides the obvious advantages of increasing road safety and improving the quality and efficiency of moving people and goods around, the integration of intelligent features and autonomous functionalities in vehicles will lead to major economic benefits, including reduced fuel consumption, efficient exploitation of the road network and reduced personnel. Furthermore, it is not only the automotive field (public transportation, trucks and automobiles) that is interested in these new technologies, but also other sectors, each with its own target (industrial vehicles, military systems, mission-critical systems and unmanned rescue robots). In this article, the author surveys the major intelligent vehicle projects and activities worldwide, covering not only automotive applications but also special vehicles.

Abstract:IoV (Internet of Vehicles) is a promising paradigm to the future of automobiles, which will undoubtedly boost the automobile market as well as accelerate innovation in Internet services and applications. The concept of SD-IoV (Software Defined IoV) is presented, which is capable of improving resource utilization, service quality, and network optimization in the harsh vehicular network environments. First, A generalized SD-IoV architecture as an intuitive big picture is presented. Then, the major functions realized by SD-IoV are elabrated on to illustrate how the current challenges are resolved. As the key enablers of SD-IoV, three possible implementation methods of the wireless control path are described and compared. Finally, the challenges and existing solutions of SD-IoV are disuessed and open issues are pointed out so as to shed light on future research.

Abstract:Intelligent connected vehicles(ICVs) are believed to change people’s life in the near future by making the transportation safer,cleaner and more comfortable. Although many prototypes of ICVs have been developed to prove the concept of autonomous driving and the feasibility of improving traffic efficiency, there still exists a significant gap before achieving mass production of high-level ICVs. The objective of this study is to present an overview of both the state of the art and future perspectives of key technologies that are needed for future ICVs. It is a challenging task to review all related works and predict their future perspectives, especially for such a complex and interdisciplinary area of research. This article is organized to overview the ICV key technologies by answering three questions: what are the milestones in the history of ICVs; what are the electronic components needed for building an ICV platform; and what are the essential algorithms to enable intelligent driving? To answer the first question, the article has reviewed the history and the development milestones of ICVs. For the second question, the recent technology advances in electrical/electronic architecture, sensors, and actuators are presented. For the third question, the article focuses on the algorithms in decision making, as the perception and control algorithm are covered in the development of sensors and actuators. To achieve correct decision-making, there exist two different approaches: the principle-based approach and data-driven approach. The advantages and limitations of both approaches are explained and analyzed. Currently automotive engineers are concerned more with the vehicle platform technology, whereas the academic researchers prefer to focus on theoretical algorithms. However, only by incorporating elements from both worlds can we accelerate the production of high-level ICVs.

Abstract:The state-of-the-art and technical trends of intelligent and connected vehicle (ICV) are illustrated.The ICV system architecture included the value chain,technology chain and industrial chain.The four stages of ICVs were the advanced assistance,connected assistance,cooperative automation and highly/fully automated driving.Some key technologies of ICVs were introduced such as environmental perception,decision making,dynamical control,human-machine copilot,V2X communication and platform,cyber security.Therefore,China should develop the ICV industry rely on the top-down design by using the national institutional advantages because the ICV will be an important direction of the automotive technology in the future,and the ICV development is a great opportunity for the transformation and upgrading of China's automobile industry.

Abstract:This paper presents a bibliographic and collaboration pattern analysis of the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles (T-IV). In this paper, a journal analysis framework is proposed. The most productiveinfluential authors, institutions, and countriesregions are identified. The research group structure is generated. Hot research topics and trends are discussed. Analysis results find that: i) The U.S. is now dominating the IV research field. It contributes 32 of papers in the IEEE T-IV; ii) Vehicle planning, vehicle perception, and energy management are the top-three hottest research topics from 2016 to 2021; iii) The Cooperative Automation (CA) is a research trend that includes vehicle group control, platoon control, intersection management, cooperation security, and cooperative perception; iv) The new 3224 processing policy is demonstrated to reduce processing durations by 90 and attracts nine times more manuscripts.

Abstract:This paper reviews the development of vehicle road collaborative simulation in the new era, and summarizes the simulation characteristics of two core technologies in the field of transportation after entering the era of Intelligent Networking: Internet of Vehicles technology and automatic driving technology. This paper analyzes and compares the mainstream Internet of Vehicles (IoV) simulation and automatic driving simulation platforms on the market, deeply analyzes the model-based IoV simulation, and explores a new mode of IoV simulation in the era of big data. According to the latest classification standard of automatic driving in 2020, we summarize the simulation process of automatic driving. Finally, we offer suggestions on the development directions of intelligent network-connected vehicle simulation.

Abstract:The new-generation smart vehicles are intelligent network terminals that integrate smart vehicle, smart transportation, smart city, and smart energy (i.e., 4S integration). They move flexibly to connect the flow of people, materials, energy, and information of a city, and have more strategic values than traditional vehicles. This study aims to clarify the significance in developing the newgeneration smart vehicles based on 4S integration, determine the technology path for the innovative development of the new-generation smart vehicle industry, and establish a novel technology system by summarizing relevant key technologies. The new-generation smart vehicles based on 4S integration is an upgrade of smart vehicles in terms of value, function, and technology. China should select a smart vehicle technology path considering vehicle infrastructure cooperation to acquire the leadership in scientific and technological innovation. To establish the technology system of the new-generation smart vehicles based on 4S integration, the automation and connectivity levels of vehicles should be coordinated simultaneously, and common basic technologies such as big data, cloud computing, information, and communications should be promoted, together with the core key technologies related to vehicles, roads, and cloud. Furthermore, we propose suggestions from the aspects of top-level design, industrial integration, technological innovation, and practical implementation, hoping to provide theoretical references for long-term development of China’s smart vehicle industry.

Abstract:This paper brings forward a concept of vehicle global intelligent electric/electronic system (GIEES) which is one of the tendencies in future vehicle development. The GIEES framework is built up according to analyzing the properties of electric/electronic devices in current vehicle, applying the advanced network technology - CAN/LIN and joining an on-board central computer. By means of integrating the micro electronic controller into individual device, intelligent electric/electronic devices are developed. On-board central computer which is manager of the system and interface to passengers is designed. CAN/LIN topology and network framework are set up to adapt vehicle layout. Based on these, electricity distribution mechanism and uniform wiring are studied as well. Functions of the whole system are explained in detail.

Abstract:The concept of intelligent environment-friendly vehicle (i-EFV) and recent research progress were annotated to explore the next generation of vehicle. The i-EFV integrates three main components including intelligent information interaction, clean energy powertrain and electrified chassis while employing key technologies of structure sharing design, data fusion and control coordination to achieve comprehensive performance, in terms of traffic safety, comfortableness, fuel efficiency and environmental protection. Two typical i-EFV applications including intelligent battery electric vehicle and intelligent hybrid electric vehicle were revealed to prove comprehensive i-EFV advantage with two major foundational research problems in vehicle dynamics and control fields being proposed.

The research results show that intelligent technology plays a significant role in improving the performance and market competitiveness of new energy vehicles, while also identifying key directions and challenges for future development.

Abstract:Purpose - The rapid development of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (ICVs) has boomed a new round of global technological and industrial revolution in recent decades. The Technology Roadmap of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (2020) comprehensively analyzes the technical architecture, research status and future trends of ICVs. The methodology that supports the roadmap should get studied. Design/methodology/approach - This paper interprets the roadmap from the aspects of strategic significance, technical content and characteristics of the roadmap, and evaluates the impact of the roadmap on researchers, industries and international strategies. Findings - The technical architecture of ICVs as the "three rows and two columns" structure is studied, the methodology that supported the roadmap is explained with a case study and the influence of key technologies with proposed development routes is analyzed. Originality/value - This paper could help researchers understand both thoughts and methodologies behind the technology roadmap of ICVs.

Abstract:The Internet of vehicles, the most important component of intelligent transportation system (ITS) in the future, is one of the most important technologies to achieve smart traffic and convenient travel for the people.With the vigorous development and continuous utilization of sensing and communication functions, the combination of these two functions, that is, integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) technology of vehicular communication networks, has become the current research hotspot and is of great significance to the development of ITS.Firstly, two different models of ISAC system, i.e., functional ISAC and signaling ISAC were defined and differentiated.Then, for the two different ISAC models, the existing works were reviewed and analyzed comprehensively.Finally, the future development directions and technical challenges of ISAC design in vehicular communication networks were proposed.
