Abstract:A vehicle model by using the software-ADAMS(Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical System) was builded,and introduces the principles which the ADAMS/Car(one of the professional modules of ADAMS) used to realize control and analyze.Based on this,the author did the steering wheel impulse input test by using ADAMS/Car,and analyzed the results.The virtual experiment system is created by using the virtual—reality software package WTK under VC compiling environment.By applying the emulation curve obtained by ADAMS to drive the motorcar model in the system,the whole dynamic emulation virtual test system is realized and this provides a new method to evaluate the operation stability of vehicles.

Abstract:In this paper, some vehicle models used for dynamometer test bench are put forward to adapt different performance tests of two-axle vehicle. Firstly, the vehicle driving model with two degrees of freedom is established by analyzing the force condition of a moving vehicle. And it can be used in performance tests which do not need complex road condition, such as acceleration test. Secondly, considering pitching motion of vehicle, the driving model with three degrees of freedom is proposed and applied to performance tests which need complex road condition, like thermal balance test or road simulation experiment. Finally, in order to do steering performance test in dynamometer test bench, the driving model is modified by considering the influence caused by steering and combines steering model to become a whole steering model of vehicle. Those models mentioned above provide theoretical support in dynamometer test bench researching.

Abstract:The load simulation methods for comprehensive performance test bench of drive axle are discussed.First,the vertical load is directly applied on tested axle by hydrocylinder through level;and for modification axle,equivalent load should be applied instead.Second,for simulating vehicle moving with maximum traction force,the road resistance moment is simulated by applying a torque through a current-excited magnetic powder brake.Third,for emergency braking performance test,the translational inertia of complete vehicle is simulated by the moment of inertia of a flywheel.Tests show that the loading scheme can rather accurately simulate the actual loads exerting on a vehicle and hence can relatively exactly evaluate the comprehensive performance of drive axle.

Abstract:A method to determine the driving resistances to be loaded on driving axles of a multi-axle vehi-cle in complex road simulation on dynamometer test bench is proposed in this paper. By setting up a driving dynam-ics model for multi-axle vehicle, the method calculates the related state variables of driving vehicle and then deter-mines the load to be applied during vehicle driving simulation on dynamometer. Compared with conventional meth-ods, the method proposed can better reflect the effects of complex road with small, short distance and frequently changed slope on driving state of vehicle, and hence the loads applied are closer to the real driving situation of vehi-cle. In addition, by means of statistical method, the road elevation spectra adopted in vibration test bench are trans-formed into complex terrain spectra to be used in dynamometer test bench. Finally a simulation is performed on ve-hicle model to analyze the variations of state variables of multi-axle vehicle in different driving conditions of cruise, acceleration, coasting and braking on both level and complex roads. The results of simulation preliminarily verify the feasibility of the method proposed.

Abstract:Dual-motor Electric Drive Tracked Vehicles (DDTVs) have attracted increasing attention due to their high transmission efficiency and economical fuel consumption. A test bench for the development and validation of new DDTV technologies is necessary and urgent. How to load the vehicle on a DDTV test bench exactly the same as on a real road is a crucial issue when designing the bench. This paper proposes a novel dynamic load emulation method to address this problem. The method adopts dual dynamometers to simulate both the road load and the inertia load that are imposed on the dual independent drive systems. The vehicle’s total inertia equivalent to the drive wheels is calculated with separate consideration of vehicle body, tracks and road wheels to obtain a more accurate inertia load. A speed tracking control strategy with feedforward compensation is implemented to control the dual dynamometers, so as to make the real-time dynamic load emulation possible. Additionally, a MATLAB/Simulink model of the test bench is built based on a dynamics analysis of the platform. Experiments are finally carried out on this test bench under different test conditions. The outcomes show that the proposed load emulation method is effective, and has good robustness and adaptability to complex driving conditions. Besides, the accuracy of the established test bench model is also demonstrated by comparing the results obtained from the simulation model and experiments.
Identification method of vehicle parameters based on genetic algorithms

Abstract:A parameter identification method based on genetic algorithms was proposed to identify the parameters of vehicle in bridge vibration test. First, the modal parameters of vehicle were identified from the damped free vibration response by wavelet transform. Then, the physical parameters such as inertia moment, stiffness and damping coefficients of the vehicle were inversely calculated from the modal parameters by the combined use of genetic algorithms and calculation of complex eigenvalue. The proposed method was validated by three groups of data from numerical simulation. Finally, the feasibility of the method was validated by field testing of a vehicle. Results show that the physical parameters of vehicle can be identified with high precision by genetic algorithms.

Abstract:Vehicle impact test is one of the mandatory tests for vehicle design regulations in China. The dynamic characteristics of the vehicle impact test system is the basis of the study which involves capability design, process control and speed control. This paper analyzes the vehicle impact test system equipped with the rubber cords, one of the actuating media, presents a biodynamic model which includes the influence of the mass of rubber cords and vehicles, friction coefficient, moment of inertia and air resistance, and develops a process control arithmetic for the dynamic characteristics. The biodynamic model is validated by the data of vehicle test under some special conditions. The conclusions of this paper are helpful for the design of similar test systems, and could improve the precision of process control.

Abstract:This paper compares several currently used in-use vehicle emission testing methods. The acceleration simulation mode (ASM) test used in the USA and its feasibility are described in detail. Based on the analysis of ASM testing method, the paper puts forward a theory and experimental methods for steady state loaded testing suitable to the condition in China. Through the frequency statistics in 15-mode test cycle, the paper justifies the steady state loaded test modes theoretically.

Abstract:Noncontact measurement systems are established for static and dynamic testing platforms respectively,and the digital image correlation method(DICM) is adopted for extracting deformation data,and the tensile test of car body materials and the deformation measurement of spot-welded joints are conducted.The accuracy of noncontact measurement is demonstrated by the comparison between noncontact and extensometer measurements in static test and the comparison between static and dynamic test results of aluminum alloy LY12cz.Noncontact measurement presents advantages over conventional methods in terms of full-field deformation acquisition,compatibility between different test platforms and measurement reliability.

Abstract:The dynamic road adhesion coefficients at 30km/h and 50km/h for dry condition were measured through the real vehicle equipped with a test system driving on the asphalt dry road. The test system included the fifth wheel instrument, the wheel speed sensors, the programmed strain amplifier and ACME portable industrial personal computer. The results show that longitudinal peak adhesion coefficients at 30km/h and 50km/h for the dry condition are about 0.7. Longitudinal adhesion coefficient increases rapidly with the slip rate increasing and soon reaches the maximum. The longitudinal peak adhesion coefficient occures when the slip rate is about 12%.
