Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the classification of global existence and blow-up of solutions to degenerate Kirchhoff problems for the initial energy at different conditions. Firstly, under subcritical or critical conditions, we find two invariant sets and obtain the threshold results of global existence or blow-up in finite time. Furthermore, we apply -limit to prove the existence of blow-up solutions for the supercritical initial energy case. Finally, we give two-sided estimates of asymptotic behavior when the source term is controlled by the diffusion term.

Abstract:This paper investigates the properties of nonnegative solutions of a quasilinear degenerate parabolic system {ut−div(|∇u|p−2∇u)=a∫Ωvα(x,t)dx,vt−div(|∇v|q−2∇v)=b∫Ωuβ(x,t)dx with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain Ω⊂RN(N≥1), where p,q>2, α,β≥1, and a,b>0 are positive constants. Under appropriate hypotheses, we first establish the local existence and uniqueness of solutions, then we show that whether or not the solution blows up in finite time depends on the initial data and the relations between αβ and (p−1)(q−1). In the special case of α=q−1 and β=p−1, we conclude that the solution exists globally if ∫Ωϕp−1dx∫Ωψq−1dx≤1/(ab), while if ∫Ωϕp−1dx∫Ωψq−1dx>1/(ab) then the solution blows up in finite time. Here ϕ(x) and ψ(x) denote the unique solution of the following elliptic problem −div(|∇ϕ|p−2∇ϕ)=1 in Ω, ϕ(x)|∂Ω=0 and −div(|∇ψ|q−2∇ψ)=1 in Ω, ψ(x)|∂Ω=0, respectively.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of a weak solution and blow-up of strong solutions to a two-component Fornberg–Whitham system. Due to the absence of some useful conservation laws, we establish the existence of a weak solution to the system in lower order Sobolev spaces ( ) via a modified pseudo-parabolic regularization method. And then, a blow-up scenario for strong solutions to this system is shown. By the analysis of Riccati-type inequalities recently, we present some sufficient conditions on the initial data that lead to the blow-up for corresponding strong solutions to the system.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for a class of singular parabolic equations with viscoelastic term and logarithmic term. By using the technique of cut-off and the method of Faedo-Galerkin approximation, the local existence of the weak solution is established. Based on the potential well method, the global existence of the weak solution is derived. Furthermore, we prove that the weak solution blows up in finite time by taking the concavity analysis method.

The strategy relies on our observation on new conservative quantities of these systems. Several new global existence results and a new blowup result of strong solutions to the two-component Degasperis- Procesi system and the two-component b-family system are presented by using these new conservative quantities.

Abstract:This paper deals with a reaction-diffusion system with nonlocal sources. Under appropriate hypotheses, we obtain that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by making use of super and sub solution techniques. In the situation when the solution blows up in finite time, we show that the blow-up set is the whole domain, which is quite different from the results with local sources. Furthermore, we obtain the blow-up rate of the solution.

Abstract:In this paper we study the global structure instability of Riemann solution u = U(x/t), containing at least one centred rarefaction wave, for the general nxn quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws. We prove the non-existence of the global piecewise C-1 solution to a class of generalized Riemann problems, which can be regarded as a perturbation of the corresponding Riemann problem. This result shows that this kind of Riemann solution mentioned above is globally structurally unstable. Applications to quasilinear hyperbolic systems arising from physics and mechanics, particularly to surface waves in hyperelastic materials, are also given.

Abstract:The generalized Jang equation was introduced in an attempt to prove the Penrose inequality in the setting of general initial data for the Einstein equations. In this paper we give an extensive study of this equation, proving existence, regularity, and blow-up results. In particular, precise asymptotics for the blow-up behavior are given, and it is shown that blow-up solutions are not unique.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the well-posedness of the weakly damped stochastic nonlinear Schr\"odinger(NLS) equation driven by multiplicative noise. First, we show the global existence of the unique solution for the damped stochastic NLS equation in critical case. Meanwhile, the exponential integrability of the solution is proved, which implies the continuous dependence on the initial data. Then, we analyze the effect of the damped term and noise on the blow-up phenomenon. By modifying the associated energy, momentum and variance identity, we deduce a sharp blow-up condition for damped stochastic NLS equation in supercritical case. Moreover, we show that when the damped effect is large enough, the damped effect can prevent the blow-up of the solution with high probability.

Conditions on the existence of global and blow-up solution are given. Abstract:In this paper, we revisit the problem of finite-time blowup for a multi-dimensional nonlocal transport equation studied in [Dong, Adv. Math. 264 (2014) 747-761]. Inspired by a one-dimensional analogous model considered in [Li-Rodrigo, Adv. Math. 374 (2020) 1-26], we establish a new weighted nonlinear inequality implying the blow-up by a completely real variable based technique.

Abstract:In a recent series of important works \cite{wei-zhang-1,wei-zhang-2,wei-zhang-3}, Wei-Zhang proved several vanishing theorems for non-simple blow-up solutions of singular Liouville equations. It is well known that a non-simple blow-up situation happens when the spherical Harnack inequality is violated near a quantized singular source. In this article, we further strengthen the conclusions of Wei-Zhang by proving that if the spherical Harnack inequality does hold, there exist blow-up solutions with non-vanishing coefficient functions.

Finite time blowup of strong solutions to the two dimensional MHD equations

Abstract:Whether the smooth solution of the multi-dimensional viscous compressible fluids will blow-up in finite time has always been a chanllenging problem. In the recent work\cite{FM}, Merle et al. proved that there are smooth solutions to the 2D radially symmetric compressible Navier-Stokes equations which will inevitably form shell singularities in finite time.\\ \indent In this article, we first prove the existence of local strong solutions that allow vacuum for the two-dimensional viscous compressible MHD equations on bounded domains without magnetic diffusion. Furthermore, it is shown that if the initial data are radial symmetric and its vacuum set contains a ball centered at the origin where the total magnetic field is non-trivial, then the radial symmetric strong solution to the initial boundary value problem will definitely blow up in finite time. This is the first example for the formation of finite time singularity of strong solutions that allows interior vacuum of a viscous compressible fluid.

Abstract:This work was concerned with the weakly coupled system of semi-linear wave equations with time dependent speeds of propagation, damping terms, and derivative nonlinear terms in generalized Einstein-de Sitter space-time on $ \mathbb{R}^n $. Under certain assumptions about the indexes $ k_1, \, k_2 $, coefficients $ \mu_1, \, \mu_2 $, and nonlinearity exponents $ p, \, q $, applying the iteration technique, finite time blow-up of local solutions to the small initial value problem of the coupled system was investigated. Blow-up region and upper bound lifespan estimate of solutions to the problem were established. Compared with blow-up results in the previous literature, the new ingredient relied on that the blow-up region of solutions obtained in this work varies due to the influence of coefficients $ k_1, \, k_2 $.
